Chengdu layovers require identifying your arrival airport: TFU handles most international flights while CTU is closer to downtown. Eligible travelers use the 240-hour visa-free transit, provided they hold onward tickets to third regions. Optimal short-stay activities include the Giant Panda Breeding Base before 10:00 or local Sichuan dining. Always confirm airport codes, as transfer times between airports can exceed 75 minutes.

What to Expect? Chengdu Layover at a Glance

What to Expect? Chengdu Layover at a Glance

Chengdu is a better layover city than most people expect, with one important catch: it has two airports, and which one you land at changes almost everything about what you can fit in. Tianfu, the newer airport that handles most international flights, sits 50 to 60 km from the city centre but is connected by an express metro line. Shuangliu, the older airport, is much closer, so a city detour is realistic even on a shorter stop.

Detail

Airports

Chengdu Tianfu (TFU), the main international hub, and Chengdu Shuangliu (CTU), mostly domestic

Distance to the city

TFU about 50 to 60 km; CTU about 16 to 18 km

Which Chengdu Airport Are You Landing At?

Airport-to-airport

About 68 to 76 km apart, linked by Line 19 in roughly 30 to 45 minutes

Same line in the other direction

Two practical rules fall out of this. If you land at CTU, a quick trip into the city is easy even on a moderate layover, because you are effectively already on the edge of town. If you land at TFU, the journey in and out consumes at least an hour each way, which means city sightseeing is only worth it on a longer stop, and anything you plan has to survive that transfer time.

A third thing to check before you plan anything: your own flight number. Some itineraries connect through both airports, and the transfer between them takes 30 to 75 minutes, so a tight connection between TFU and CTU is not the same as a connection within one airport.

Do You Need a Visa for a Chengdu Layover?

Probably not, if your passport is on the right list and your route qualifies.

China's 240-hour visa-free transit allows citizens of a designated list of around 55 countries, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, most Schengen countries, Japan and South Korea, to enter without a visa for up to ten days. Both Chengdu Tianfu and Chengdu Shuangliu are eligible entry ports.

Three conditions decide whether you qualify:

  • You need a confirmed onward ticket to a third country or region, with a fixed date and seat, departing within 240 hours. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan count as third regions. A return to the country you came from does not qualify.
  • Your passport needs at least three months of validity remaining.
  • The stay clock starts at midnight the day after you arrive, which in practice gives you slightly more than ten days.

The permitted area from Chengdu covers Chengdu itself plus the surrounding prefecture-level cities, including Leshan, Meishan, Deyang, Ya'an, Ziyang, Zigong, Luzhou, Suining, Neijiang and Yibin. Movement between other designated visa-free zones across China is allowed, but remote parts of Sichuan, including Jiuzhaigou and the Aba area, are outside the open zones, so check before planning that detour.

If your passport is not on the list, or your route is a simple return rather than a true transit, you will need a full visa, so check before you fly rather than at the border.

Eating Sichuan Food on a Short Chengdu Layover

Eating Sichuan Food on a Short Chengdu Layover

Eating Sichuan Food on a Short Chengdu Layover

Chengdu is one of the few cities where a single meal justifies leaving the airport, and you do not need a long lunch to do it.

  • Dan dan noodles are fast, cheap and everywhere.
  • Mapo tofu and twice-cooked pork are the dishes to order in a proper restaurant if you have an hour.
  • Hotpot is the full Chengdu experience, best shared and best with more time than a tight connection allows.
  • Street food in Kuanzhai Alley or Jinli is the quickest way to try a lot of things at once, at the cost of some authenticity in the most touristed spots.

Two practical notes. Real Sichuan food is numbingly spicy in a way that surprises first-timers, so order less than you think and say you want it mild if you need to. And meals are paid for by QR code almost everywhere, so set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with a card before you arrive.

Best Things to Do on a Chengdu Layover

Best Things to Do on a Chengdu Layover

Four experiences justify leaving the airport, and they map neatly onto how long you have.

  • See the giant pandas. The single best reason to leave the terminal, but it only pays off if you can be at the base early, because pandas are most active at breakfast and sleep through the afternoon.
  • Visit the Sanxingdui Museum. A Bronze Age civilisation with artefacts unlike anything else in China, about an hour from the city by car or a short high-speed train plus a shuttle.
  • Eat Sichuan food. Chengdu is the home of Sichuan cuisine, and a short stop is enough for a proper bowl of dan dan noodles, a hotpot, or street food in the old alleys.
  • Drink tea in a park teahouse. Cheaper and more atmospheric than any museum, and it needs no reservation and no timing.

Chengdu Layover Itineraries by Length

Chengdu Layover Itineraries by Length

4 to 6 hours

Stay near the airport. At TFU the terminal itself has rest zones, dining and a capsule hotel, and at either airport a lounge or a nap is a better use of the time than a rushed, stressful trip into the city that leaves no margin for the return. This is the honest answer for a short stop, however tempting the city looks on the map.

7 to 10 hours

Enough for one city experience if you are landing at CTU, and a squeeze from TFU. Head into town, walk Chunxi Road and the Taikoo Li area, climb past the IFS panda sculpture, eat one proper Sichuan meal, and head back. Skip the pandas and Sanxingdui on this window, because both need more time than you have.

12 hours

A full city day. From either airport you can reach the centre, eat, visit one or two of the old-town areas such as Kuanzhai Alley or Jinli, sit in a teahouse, and return with margin. The pandas are possible from CTU with an early start, and borderline from TFU because of the transfer.

Overnight or 24 hours

This is the window where Chengdu pays off. Arrive, sleep at or near the airport, and go to the panda base for opening the next morning, before the pandas retreat indoors and the crowds arrive. Use the afternoon for Sanxingdui or for the old town and food, then head back for your flight. A full layover day is the difference between having seen Chengdu and having merely passed through it.

Seeing the Pandas on a Chengdu Layover

Seeing the Pandas on a Chengdu Layover

The panda base is about 10 km northeast of Tianfu Square, a 30 to 40 minute drive or a metro ride on Line 3 to Panda Avenue followed by a shuttle. It is the most rewarding thing in Chengdu and the most timing-sensitive.

Pandas are most active between roughly 7:30 and 10:00, when they are fed. After mid-morning, especially in warm weather, they sleep or retreat into air-conditioned enclosures. The practical conclusion is that a panda visit is only worth it if you can be at the gate for opening: 7:30 in summer, 8:00 in winter.

Tickets are real-name and tied to your passport, and you must bring the physical passport. The base caps visitors daily, so book several days ahead through the official mini-program or a platform such as Trip.com. If you can choose, the South Gate gives you the classic areas and the star pandas, while the West Gate is newer and less crowded.

Sanxingdui Museum on a Chengdu Layover

Sanxingdui Museum on a Chengdu Layover

Sanxingdui is the other thing worth rearranging a schedule for: a Bronze Age culture that disappeared without leaving written records, with masks and figures unlike anything else in Chinese history.

It is reachable by a high-speed train from Chengdu East station to the dedicated Sanxingdui station, a journey of about 18 to 25 minutes, followed by a ten-minute shuttle or taxi. There is no direct train from either airport, so you travel into the city first, which is what makes this a 10-hour-plus activity rather than a quick detour. A taxi straight from the airport works too: about an hour from Shuangliu and an hour twenty from Tianfu.

Tickets sell out, and the museum runs a reservation system, so book several days ahead if you want to go. Give the site two to three hours on the ground, and count the full door-to-door time before you commit.

Where to Store Your Luggage and Where to Sleep for Chengdu Layover

Both airports have left-luggage counters, generally charging around CNY 10 to 30 per piece depending on size and duration. Storing your bag is the difference between a layover where you are dragging a suitcase through the metro and one where you are not.

If you need to sleep, the options are better than most airports. Both Tianfu and Shuangliu have capsule hotels, including the Take A Nap pod hotels inside the terminals, bookable by the hour or overnight. Tianfu also has full-service hotels between its terminals, and there is one a short walk from Shuangliu Terminal 1. For a short night before a panda-morning, the capsule pods are the practical choice; for a full night's rest, take the hotel.

Practical Tips for a Chengdu Layover

Practical Tips for a Chengdu Layover
  • Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with an international card before you fly. Almost everything in the city is paid by QR code, including the metro.
  • Download DiDi for ride-hailing in English, and keep the airport's Chinese name in your phone to show a driver.
  • Use an eSIM or roaming plan that keeps maps and messaging working.
  • Check your airport code before you plan anything. CTU and TFU are far apart, and a plan built for the wrong one is a plan that fails at the first step.
  • Book pandas and Sanxingdui ahead. Both cap visitors and sell out, and neither is worth discovering at the gate that you cannot enter.
  • Keep a buffer on the return. Chengdu's airport expressways slow at peak times, and the metro, while reliable, needs you to allow for the transfer from the station to your gate.

The hotel has obvious pros and cons. The pros are that it meets standard five-star expectations. The rooms are generally good and spacious enough, perfect for families with two children as the bunk beds plus the large bed provide ample space. The location is excellent, right across from Chunxi Road. The breakfast is good, and there's a parking lot. The cons are also clear: the facilities are a bit old, the parking lot is narrow, it's not smart at all, and there aren't even enough power outlets. Checking in was also a bit cumbersome and required waiting.

Not to sound exaggerated, but Grand ParcVue Hotel is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Having travelled to many countries and stayed in different types of hotels, I would rank the overall experience and service here among the top tier. I stayed in a Deluxe King Room for 3 days and 2 nights and was already impressed upon arrival. I checked in at around 1am and was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff before being assigned a room on the 23rd floor. There was a slight unpleasant smell in the room, possibly coming from the kitchen, but it wasn't a major issue as I could close the doors to prevent it from coming in. I bought an air freshener myself, and what impressed me was that the manager came personally the next day to check on the situation and even provided an air purifier. The breakfast was another highlight. I enjoyed trying the local dan dan noodles, and I noticed many international guests from Korea, Japan and Western countries. The dining hall staff were all friendly and professional. The gym on the 6th floor was also surprisingly well-equipped, with a good selection of dumbbells and machines for a full-body workout. Even more impressive was the Relaxation Room on the 7th floor, where guests can enjoy several massage chairs 24 hours a day. There is also a Business Lounge on the same floor, which is a great place for meetings, conversations or simply getting some work done. The hotel is also directly connected to Yanlord Mall, so you will never have to worry about finding restaurants or shops. Do note that it is a high-end mall, so food there can be relatively expensive. One thing I particularly appreciated was the hotel's hospitality even after checkout—I was offered access to the Business Lounge on my final day so I could conduct my online classes comfortably before heading to the airport. Overall, I had an excellent stay at Grand ParcVue Hotel. The combination of great facilities, convenient location and, most importantly, genuinely attentive service made this stay memorable. I would have no hesitation booking this hotel again if I return to Chengdu. **Highly recommended!**

Traveling with kids, we stayed for three nights. Without a doubt, this is the hotel with the best value for money in China—hands down. The well-trained staff provided service that made us feel completely taken care of and at ease. The breakfast was lavish, featuring unique latte art, and the menu changed every single day without repetition. The room was spacious, and the facilities were exceptionally well-maintained, with no sense of wear and tear at all. The surfaces were almost miraculously spotless, which was truly impressive. We arrived quite late on the first day, and turndown service had already been prepared for us. There were no strange odors in the room whatsoever, which speaks volumes about the hotel's management standards. Chengdu is a wonderful city, and we will definitely stay here again next time. I also accidentally left some items behind at the hotel, and they kindly shipped them back to me. Truly a huge thank you to the team!

My overall experience during the stay was fantastic. This St. Regis hotel seems to have been around for quite some time, as the furniture and decor are a bit dated. However, the maintenance and upkeep are quite good, and the signature St. Regis elegance and quality are still very much present. The Manhattan Suite was very comfortable. It's quite spacious at 130 square meters, featuring a huge living room and a large, comfortable bed. It also has two bathrooms. The breakfast was excellent, with many local Sichuan snacks, and the freshly wrapped wontons were delicious. There's 24-hour butler service, and you can order free drinks to your room anytime. It offers great value for money.

It is very convenient to go to Kuanzhai Alley or Tianfu Square. The rooms are spacious and bright, the hygiene is spotless, the bedding is soft and comfortable, and you can have a good night's sleep. What surprises people the most is the hotel's ”Little Red Dress Butler” service. It is not only warm and thoughtful, but also provides a local food map. It asks every day whether the room needs to be replenished with items and mineral water, which makes people feel warm. The breakfast combines Chinese and Western styles, is rich in variety, and has excellent taste. The overall cost is very high, and it is the best choice for business trips or family travel. We stayed for one night with our child to go swimming. It's an older hotel style, but well-maintained and clean. The only downside is that the bed was too small – I haven't slept on a 1.35m bed in ages! I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Ms. Weiwei at the front desk. We were in a rush to head out and didn't have our IDs, but she patiently helped us with the check-in process. She even upgraded our room for free! Every year, I visit Chengdu for a few recuperation trips, and it's always the Grand Hyatt. It feels like visiting old friends… It's been many years, and I've watched the Grand Hyatt grow and improve step by step… Every detail is a testament to the hard work of every Grand Hyatt employee! This National Day, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt again and clearly felt the changes in team management and the subtle improvement in service. The new employees were humble and enthusiastic, and the experienced staff and management showed great insight and quick, effective problem-solving skills – thumbs up! 👍 **Facilities:** The room was cozy and comfortable. The hotel had installed anti-collision protection on sharp corners in the bathroom, and anti-slip reminders around the bathtub. The peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling was also refreshed, and the room corners were clean, with toiletries replenished promptly. **Dining:** The executive lounge ambiance was still great; I especially love that touch of Hermès orange… The cakes, pastries, and drinks were unchanged, still of Grand Hyatt quality. However, the orange juice was too diluted. I suspect the Chinese chef in the executive lounge has changed, as the Chinese food has lost its previous Chengdu characteristics, and the quality of the ingredients is significantly worse than before, especially the cold mixed bean curd skin and garlic pork belly, which were particularly salty. For breakfast, the overall quality and features were maintained. Dandan noodles were still the most popular. However, most of the fruit and vegetable juices were too watered down, affecting the taste and quality. The previous carrot, celery, and bitter gourd juices were replaced by a 'vitality water' that felt cheap. The whole wheat bread was hard and not fresh enough! **Issues and Suggestions:** When collecting entrusted luggage, it's understandable that a luggage tag is required for security. However, if a guest cannot produce the luggage tag due to special circumstances, there should be alternative ways to verify the owner of the luggage, instead of demanding a photocopy of their ID. Such a non-compliant action could lead to the leakage of guest information and undesirable consequences, for which the hotel would be unable to bear responsibility! Finally, I'd like to express my gratitude once again to every staff member of the Grand Hyatt Chengdu for their hard work! I hope the Grand Hyatt Chengdu continues to thrive! Looking forward to my next visit! 👏👏👏👍👍👍🍎🍎🍎🌺🌺🌺

The hotel isn't new, but it's generally fine and has a smart toilet. The concierges at the entrance are excellent, very proactive with luggage, especially when we checked out and stored our bags. When we came back and took a taxi past the hotel, we asked a concierge to bring our luggage out beforehand to wait at the entrance, and when the car passed, the bags were seamlessly loaded. It was a fantastic experience! The front desk, however, wasn't great. I specifically requested a non-smoking room when booking, but the room assigned still smelled of smoke. It wasted half an hour to change rooms, and in the end, it was the concierge who had to clean up the front desk's mess, coming up to deliver the new room card. A big thanks to him! When we returned in the evening, we found the hotel had provided some complimentary snacks and fruit; although it was a small gesture, it was thoughtful. The lights outside the hotel are quite beautiful, probably from the Year of the Horse Chinese New Year. Overall, I'd recommend it!

The private hot spring water was reassuringly clean, and the intelligent temperature control was a thoughtful touch. Soaking in it instantly melted away all my fatigue. In the evening, paired with a home theater, the comfort was simply unparalleled. The guesthouse's details were even more stunning: the rustic yet exquisite decor created a wonderful atmosphere, the teaware was so delicate I almost didn't want to leave it behind, and afternoon tea with the mountain view was incredibly pleasant; the smart appliances in the bathroom were convenient and high-end, and even the sweet fermented rice balls with brown sugar were incredibly soft and delicious—you could feel the owner's care. The owner's hospitality and the two adorable dogs were the biggest pluses! Playing with the dogs and taking them for walks felt like being at a friend's house. This stay was so comfortable; I'm already thinking about coming back again. Highly recommended, a top choice for family trips!

Yuanyuanxiang is genuinely delicious! Usually, mountain guesthouses either have inconvenient dining or aren't quiet enough. Yuanyuanxiang is both peaceful and offers amazing food! The chef's skills are truly impressive, and you can even order from nearby restaurants to have food delivered to you! The breakfast is also incredibly rich and varied! It's a Western and Chinese buffet, and you can order super tasty noodles! The room also has a variety of snacks, drinks, and fruits, and they are proactively refilled every day! The private hot springs are also meticulously cleaned. When I checked in, there weren't many guests, and the butler even came to help clean it again! All the butlers are very enthusiastic and attentive! I felt extremely well taken care of! Highly recommend!

This is our second stay within a week (after 2 nights at Jiuzhaigou). When we returned, it’s comforting to be greeted warmly by Xiao Zhang at the reception again (he checked us in one our first stay). Although the staff are on shifts and we met different people each day, everyone showed the same level of friendliness and helpfulness. We enjoyed a free upgrade again and loved the room with modern decor, and opportunity to wash our clothes before heading out again. We’re convinced that Sungold is the perfect base to explore Chengdu and other attractions in Sichuan. We’re off to Dujiangyan and Qingchen, and will be back here again for another 2 nights!

The location is excellent; you can walk to Hejiang Pavilion and Taikoo Li. The area is lively, yet the hotel itself is very quiet. The executive lounge was closed, but all benefits were moved to the all-day dining on the first floor. Both afternoon tea and happy hour were decent. The minibar and complimentary laundry service were a nice touch. Service was prompt and the staff were friendly. However, shortly after I booked, the pool was suddenly announced to be closed. When I spoke to the front desk, they said they didn't have the authority to upgrade me to a suite. Upon check-out, they mistakenly charged for the complimentary laundry service. I only realized it after leaving and had to go back to remind them to refund the extra deposit, which was a bit annoying.

Chengdu Jinjiang Hotel is about to celebrate its 70th anniversary, and the philosophy of making guests feel at home is deeply ingrained in every staff member. Everyone I encountered in the hotel had a smile on their face. Although some rooms are currently undergoing renovation, you won't feel any inconvenience from the construction. The breakfast is rich and the service is meticulous. Because of my old age and poor eyesight, I couldn't find the toiletries. A staff member immediately brought them to me and pointed out where they were placed. It turned out I had mistakenly blamed the staff, but from the lobby to the service staff, everyone greeted me with smiles and genuine sincerity.

We booked a family room with a small balcony, and both the elderly and children had a very comfortable stay. The hotel service was thoughtful and accommodating, always ready to help. The location is great, about a 12-minute walk to Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li. The bathroom had no unpleasant odors and was cleaned thoroughly every day. The only drawback was that the air conditioning was a bit noisy. Overall, we were very satisfied with the hotel.

Traveling with my family during the National Day holiday, we chose this hotel. The location is excellent, with many attractions nearby and plenty of great food options. The room layout was well-designed, and the hygiene was good. It also happened to be my husband's birthday, and when we returned to the room that evening, we were pleasantly surprised to find a birthday cake prepared by the hotel. The cake was delicious 😋 and we finished it all that night.

This is my top choice hotel when I come to Chengdu. The surrounding area is very convenient with convenience stores and a commercial street. Downstairs, there are many cafes and local Chengdu snack shops. This time, I brought my elderly family members for the National Day holiday. The day before check-in, the hotel butler called to ask if we had any special requests, which was very thoughtful. We were very satisfied with the entire stay. Everyone, from the greeter on the first floor to the front desk staff and even the floor attendants, was warm and attentive. The hotel also offered a complimentary travel photography service, which was perfect for creating beautiful memories with my family. The breakfast selection was rich and varied, catering to the convenience needed during travel. If I come to Chengdu again, this will still be my first choice.

Staying at Wanda Reign Chengdu this time was an absolutely stellar experience, I just had to write a detailed positive review! First off, the check-in process was excellent; the front desk staff were efficient, so there was no long wait, and they were all friendly and professional. Throughout my stay, I had a dedicated butler providing attentive service – whether it was directions, room requests, or dining reservations, their responses were incredibly prompt, truly showcasing a high level of premium service. The room itself far exceeded my expectations; it was meticulously cleaned, every corner spotless, and the bedding was fresh and odor-free. The mattress had the perfect balance of softness and support, allowing me to completely unwind after exploring Chengdu's streets and alleys, leading to truly restful sleep. The hotel's facilities are also comprehensive. The underground parking has ample spaces and easy access, making it stress-free for those traveling by car. The heated swimming pool has clean water and a serene environment, and the gym is well-equipped, creating a great workout atmosphere – it was a real pleasure to relax and exercise during my free time. The dining was another major highlight. Breakfast runs from 6:30 AM all the way until 1:30 PM, which was incredibly convenient for someone like me who enjoys sleeping in! The variety was extensive, offering everything from Western pastries and live cooking stations to authentic Sichuan snacks, freshly made noodles, and specialty bites. I left feeling completely satisfied and happy. The afternoon tea on the 41st floor boasts an amazing view, overlooking the city and offering a panoramic sight towards Jiuyan Bridge. Both the sweet and savory treats were exquisitely crafted, creating a wonderful ambiance. For dinner, I chose the Pin Zhen Chinese Restaurant. The dishes were authentically flavored, with the Sichuan cuisine being fresh, fragrant, and rich in taste. The private rooms offer great privacy, making it suitable for both casual gatherings with friends and business dinners. From the meticulous service and room comfort to the dining and recreational facilities, every aspect was impeccable. Its excellent location also made sightseeing convenient. It truly lives up to its reputation as a benchmark for luxury hotels in Chengdu. I will definitely choose Wanda Reign again on my next visit to Chengdu, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone!

I had a wonderful stay at W Chengdu. Its trendy design blends local Sichuan features, and the public areas are great for photos. The guest room was clean and tidy with expansive floor‑to‑ceiling windows and comfy bedding, plus complete bathroom amenities. The staff were friendly and check‑in was efficient. Breakfast offered a wide selection, with authentic Sichuan wontons and dan dan noodles. It also features a well‑kept indoor heated pool and gym, and the rooftop bar boasts stunning night views. Perfect for both leisure and business trips. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Chengdu.

I really enjoyed the stay in the hotel! Everyone were super keen to help and the hotel room itself was really clean no weird smells and spacious. The location is quiet and nice. 5 min walk from the metro and there are bikes parked right outside so you can ride wherever. There’s only one washing machine but they were completely ok with my delayed checkout due to waiting to the dryer to end. Didn’t take photos of my room but it was exactly as the pictures they put if not better:)

Every time I come to Chengdu, I choose Hilton. This time I brought my family to Chengdu for a trip, and the experience was excellent. The hotel facilities are comprehensive, and the breakfast is abundant. The Executive Lounge's happy hour also offers a great selection, which can even serve as an alternative for dinner. A special thanks to Guest Relations Manager Racine Zhou for her thoughtful arrangements. She inquired about my arrival time before check-in to ensure everything was ready, and I appreciate that she handled my feedback from my previous stay appropriately. I will definitely be returning often!

We drove to Chengdu, and since there are traffic restrictions based on license plates, having a parking lot at this hotel was incredibly convenient. The security guard was also very kind and welcoming. The front desk staff was diligent and responsible. The room wasn't huge, but it was very elegant, and the bedding was super comfortable. There are lots of great food options nearby, and it's really close to Chunxi Road. If you want to go to Sanxingdui, you can just take a bus from Chunxi Road. Chengdu truly is a relaxing city! After a long day of sightseeing, coming back and having some tea was just perfect. The front desk even gave us a Wenshu Monastery prayer bracelet with 18 beads!

The location is excellent, very close to Metro Line 2 and convenient for buses. Kuanzhai Alley is also nearby and within walking distance. There are plenty of dining options in the surrounding area, catering to all budgets. The room was spacious enough, and it came with tea bags, soft candies, and cookies. In the hallway, there were cold fruit drinks and hot coffee available. All the hotel staff were very friendly. The hygiene was good, and the facilities were neither new nor old. The bathroom occasionally had a slight odor, but that's a minor point, and overall, I highly recommend it.

We chose this hotel because it was close to the zoo and panda base, and the receptionist, Xiao Shu, greeted us warmly as soon as we entered the lobby.
