Chengdu Shopping at a Glance

Chengdu Shopping at a Glance Taikoo Li Chengdu

Chengdu Shopping at a Glance Mala Hotpot Base

Chengdu is a better shopping city than its sleepy teahouse reputation suggests. It is the capital of Sichuan cooking, the home of one of China's four great embroidery traditions, and the only city where the most reliable meeting point is a giant panda climbing a department store.

What to Buy in Chengdu

The edible souvenirs are the best value in the city: cheap, easy to pack, and they reproduce the flavour of Sichuan at home in a way no photograph can. The crafts are the opposite kind of value, expensive and fragile and worth it for the right buyer.

What to Buy in Chengdu

What to Buy in Chengdu

Sichuan seasonings and hotpot base

The hotpot base is the first thing to buy. A block of beef-tallow base contains the entire seasoning of a Sichuan hotpot, and at home you melt it into water and add ingredients. Look for one marked 牛油, meaning beef tallow, which is what gives real Sichuan hotpot its richness. The Chengdu brand 名扬 makes well-regarded hand-made tallow bases, and 桥头 is another name you will see everywhere.

Around it, the supporting cast: Sichuan peppercorn (花椒), red for aroma and green for a sharper, citrusy numbness; doubanjiang, the fermented chilli-and-bean paste behind mapo tofu and twice-cooked pork, with 鹃城 as the old-line producer and 丹丹 as the modern one; dried 二荆条 chilli, valued for aroma and colour rather than raw heat; sesame oil for the hotpot dip; peppercorn oil for the numbing note; and pickled mustard greens (芽菜), without which real dan dan noodles cannot be made.

Chengdu tea

Chengdu sits in the Sichuan Basin, where humidity, fog and rich soil make it genuinely good tea country.

  • Sanhua tea (三花茶). Jasmine-scented green tea, and the taste of the city's teahouses. Fragrant, cheap and deeply local.
  • Gaiwan tea. Not a variety but a way of serving: loose tea brewed in a lidded cup. The shops sell blends made for this method.
  • Countryside teas. Pujiang Queshe (蒲江雀舌), delicate "bird tongue" buds; Qionglai dark tea; and Qingcheng Xueya (青城雪芽), the "snow buds" from Mount Qingcheng.
  • Premium options. Zhuyeqing (竹叶青), the famous green tea from Mount Emei, and the red tea Chuanhong Gongfu (川红功夫).

Sweets and snacks to take home

The famous Chengdu desserts are mostly eaten fresh and do not travel: brown sugar ice jelly (冰粉), rice cake in brown sugar, and the rice balls called 三大炮. What you buy instead are their portable relatives.

  • Pujiang rice crisp candy (蒲江米花糖). Glutinous rice, peanuts and sesame; a listed intangible cultural heritage of Pujiang County, crisp and lightly sweet.
  • Ice jelly powder (冰粉粉). A powder you mix with water to make 冰粉 at home, ideally with a bottle of brown sugar syrup.
  • Dragon beard candy and sesame brittle. Classic sweets that keep well and make easy gifts.
  • Dried beef and rabbit. The paper-thin spicy beef 灯影牛肉 and vacuum-packed rabbit are the savoury, more distinctive alternatives to a panda keyring.

What to Buy in Chengdu

What to Buy in Chengdu Panda Post (Sichuan University Museum Branch)

Panda souvenirs and creative goods

The official shop at the Panda Base sells the highest-quality merchandise, with part of the proceeds supporting the animals, at prices higher than anywhere else and quality to match. In the city, Kuanzhai Alley has the densest concentration of creative boutiques, selling panda designs you will not find elsewhere.

Beyond plush toys, the design-driven chains worth knowing are Panda Post, where you can buy and send a postcard; Panda Bookstore; and Mingtang, a cultural creative brand. They stock fresher goods than the identical stuffed pandas on the street stalls. If you buy from a street stall, bargain, because the starting price is a suggestion rather than a quote.

Shu embroidery and traditional crafts

Shu embroidery is one of China's four great embroidery traditions, with more than a thousand years of history, and the most meaningful craft souvenir the city produces. The work is defined by smooth silk, precise stitching and strong colour.

For a wide selection with guaranteed quality, the salon 蜀龙绣庄 near the Sichuan Brocade and Embroidery Museum is the reliable choice. For museum-grade pieces, look around Songxianqiao and the Wenshu Monastery district, where master studios operate. For gifts, the practical pieces are the double-sided fans, bookmarks, silk scarves, brooches and coasters; for a serious piece, the classic panda or lotus-and-carp motifs. Ask whether a piece is hand or machine embroidered, because the price difference is large and no one volunteers it.

Antiques: buy for looks, not investment

Chengdu has real antique markets, and they are genuinely enjoyable to walk: the Songxianqiao art town, the Jinsi factory antique market and the Caotang west market. Unless you genuinely know Chinese porcelain, jade or calligraphy, treat them as museums rather than shops. Buy what you like at a price you would pay for a decorative object, and never treat an antique as an investment.

Where to Shop in Chengdu

Where to Shop in Chengdu

Where to Shop in Chengdu

Supermarkets and grocery stores

For food, spices and packaged snacks, go to a supermarket, not a souvenir shop. The large hypermarkets, including Walmart, RT-Mart, Yonghui and Ito Yokado, stock the same sauces and spices locals buy, with fixed, honest prices and fresh stock. This is where the hotpot base, peppercorn and doubanjiang come from, and it is the difference between a fair price and three times it in a tourist lane. For premium imported goods or a gift-ready selection, Hema Fresh and the higher-end supermarkets inside the large malls are the upgrade.

Tea shops and the tea factory store

For Sanhua tea, skip the boutiques and go to the tea factory store (成都茶厂门市部). It sells in plain bags, at honest prices, to locals who drive across town for it, and the area has lookalikes with similar names, so use the exact address: No. 265 Jindong Road, Jinjiang District. For the same tea in a gift box, the brand 成都三花1951 is the presentable version. For gaiwan tea, the shops around Kuanzhai Alley, Wenshu Monastery and Jinli carry a wide range, with 子乐宅 popular among Chinese visitors. For countryside and premium teas, the large city-centre tea shops stock them without you needing to travel to the counties.

Hehuachi wholesale market

Hehuachi is the city's "offline Taobao": a vast wholesale district where buyers from across China stock their boutiques, and where clothes, bags and accessories sell at factory prices. It is split into several buildings, with Jinniu Zhixin for trendy items, the so-called Korea Town for K-pop style, and Dacheng for volume basics. The local rule for retail buyers is to start on the fourth floor of Jinniu Zhixin or Languang Jinhehua, where the season's showrooms are, and work downwards. Prices are rarely fixed, so bargain firmly and with a smile.

Chengdu Shopping Outlets: Where to Find Discounts

Chengdu Shopping Outlets: Where to Find Discounts

Chengdu Shopping Outlets: Where to Find Discounts

For discounted global brands, Chengdu has two main outlets, and they are different enough that the choice matters.

Times Outlets (时代奥特莱斯) in Shuangliu is the older, busier option and the easiest to reach, a few minutes' walk from Longqiao Road station on Metro Line 3. It is strongest on sport and casual wear, with brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma and Skechers alongside entry-level luxury such as Coach and Michael Kors, and it runs seasonal and stackable discounts year-round. If you want sports or everyday fashion cheaply, go here.

Florentia Village (佛罗伦萨小镇) in Pidu is the newer, more upmarket alternative, built in an Italian style that makes it a destination in itself. It carries more full-luxury names, including Gucci, Prada, Burberry, Ferragamo and Armani, with heavier discounts than the downtown stores. It is less convenient to reach by public transport, roughly a metro ride on Line 2 to Xipu followed by a tram or taxi, so budget the trip if you are not driving.

Both outlets run extra promotions around public holidays, and their mini-programs carry member coupons, so check before you go rather than paying the first price shown.

Chengdu's Main Shopping Streets: Chunxi Road and the Old Lanes

Chengdu's Main Shopping Streets: Chunxi Road and the Old Lanes Chunxi Road

Chengdu's Main Shopping Streets: Chunxi Road and the Old Lanes Kuanzhai Alley

Chunxi Road is the city's main shopping street, a pedestrian district where malls merge into one continuous labyrinth, lined with multi-floor flagships of the global mass-market chains. The landmark here is the IFS mall and its giant panda climbing the façade, officially titled "I Am Here", photographed from the rooftop garden in the front and from the street in the rear, and used by locals as the city's most reliable meeting point. If you only have time for one shopping street, this is it.

Kuanzhai Alley, the wide and narrow lanes, is where the creative boutiques and design shops cluster, and the best place for panda goods with actual design behind them. Jinli, the restored old street, is more food and atmosphere than serious shopping, but its tea houses and stalls are part of the experience. Both are more pleasant in the evening, and neither has the fixed-price certainty of a mall.

Chengdu Shopping Malls: IFS, Taikoo Li, SKP and MixC

Chengdu Shopping Malls: IFS, Taikoo Li, SKP and MixC Chengdu IFS

Chengdu IFS

Chengdu Shopping Malls: IFS, Taikoo Li, SKP and MixC

Chengdu Taikoo Li

Chengdu's malls are the reliable, fixed-price side of the city's shopping, and they cluster in two ways.

IFS and Taikoo Li sit across the road from each other on the edge of Chunxi Road. IFS is the home of the climbing panda and a heavy-luxury department store. Taikoo Li is an open-air complex built in traditional Sichuan style around an ancient temple, with the city's densest concentration of luxury brands and a flagship Apple Store. If your list is Gucci, Hermès, Louis Vuitton or Dior, this is where you are going.

SKP and MixC are the comfort alternatives when Chunxi's crowds are too much. SKP is the newest luxury complex and the quietest. MixC, the 万象城 chain, is the all-rounder, good for a weekend of shopping under one roof. The city also has the enormous Global Center, one of the largest buildings in the world by floor area, which is more of an attraction than a shopping list.

Grocery Shopping in Chengdu, Online and In Stores

Grocery Shopping in Chengdu, Online and In Stores

For cooking ingredients, snacks and everyday supplies, you do not even need to leave your hotel. Chengdu has a full layer of grocery delivery apps, and they are the fastest way to buy the seasonings and sweets on this list.

Platform

What it is best for

Delivery

Hema Fresh (盒马鲜生)

High-quality fresh food, seafood, own-brand and bakery items

About 30 to 45 minutes within a store's range; half-day or next-day further out

Xiaoxiang Supermarket (小象超市)

All-round daily groceries at low prices

Around 30 minutes

Dingdong Maicai (叮咚买菜)

Fresh vegetables and live seafood

Around 30 minutes

JD Daojia (京东到家)

Orders from physical stores such as Sam's Club, Walmart, Yonghui and Ito Yokado

Around an hour

These apps run inside Alipay and WeChat, which is another reason to set up mobile payment before you arrive. Delivery to your hotel is normal, and the rider either hands the order to you or leaves it with the front desk. If you want to pick your own tea and spices rather than have them chosen for you, the hypermarkets remain the better option, but for snacks, water and daily essentials, delivery beats a shopping trip.

How to Shop Smart in Chengdu

Bargaining: what works and what doesn't

The rule is simple: fixed prices in malls, supermarkets and brand stores, negotiable prices in markets, wholesale halls and street stalls. Where bargaining applies, a 30 to 50 per cent reduction off the first quoted price is normal rather than aggressive. Smile, be ready to walk away, and the price usually comes down. Where it does not apply, asking is pointless.

Payment and apps

Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay with an international card before you arrive, because almost everything is paid by QR code and cash is increasingly awkward. Download DiDi for rides and a translation app for the market stalls. These are the two tools that make the difference between a smooth shopping trip and one spent fumbling at the counter.

Shipping it home

Markets and malls are used to overseas buyers, and a courier from a market or a shipping counter at a mall is often cheaper than an airline excess-baggage fee. Pack a small amount in your luggage and send the rest, especially the food and tea, which weigh more than they look.

Pros: (1) Excellent location, right on Chunxi Road, with a direct shuttle service from the hotel to the Panda Base. (2) The staff were very friendly and even gave small gifts to the children. (3) The package deal offered great value for money. Cons: During my stay at the hotel, I constantly suffered from rhinitis and skin allergies. Both issues resolved immediately after checking out/changing hotels, suggesting that the room's cleanliness needs significant improvement.

This place was such a good find for us travelling with our toddler. It was like an apartment with great features such as a fully equipped kitchen, washing machine and drier, but with all services and amenities of a 5 star hotel as well such as room service, daily cleaning, and hotel breakfast. The room separation to the living area was a bonus for us with a toddler with an earlier bed time, and this hotel was was the only place during our travels where they provided a proper cot rather than a travel or foldable one. Staff were very helpful and saw our needs before we asked. Great pool and kids play area.

An Exceptional Stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu I had a wonderful stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu, where the service truly went above and beyond my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality and attention to detail were outstanding. I was generously upgraded to a Club Suite, which was a lovely surprise. When I was feeling unwell, the team kindly arranged some ice for me, and when I slept in and missed the usual Club breakfast timing, they graciously allowed me to enjoy breakfast even though it normally finishes at 11 am. These thoughtful gestures made such a difference and demonstrated genuine care for their guests. A very special thank you to Meria Pan, whose hospitality, professionalism, and kindness were exceptional. She made me feel genuinely looked after, and I cannot thank her enough for going the extra mile to ensure my comfort. She is a real credit to the hotel. Another highlight was the excellent service throughout the property. All the staff I encountered spoke English and were friendly, attentive, and professional, making the entire experience seamless and comfortable. The buffet at Spices Restaurant was also excellent, with an extensive variety of dishes to choose from, all delicious and beautifully presented. What sets this hotel apart is not just the beautiful accommodation or excellent dining, but the genuine warmth and willingness of the team to go above and beyond for their guests. I would highly recommend The Ritz-Carlton, Chengdu, and I look forward to returning. Thank you to Meria Pan and the entire team for making my stay so memorable!

Located close to Chunxi Road(5 min walk) and Tianfu Square(10 min walk), exit at Exit E1 or Exit A from Chunxi Metro Station for nearest exit. The lobby is huge and clean, the single room also huge and comfortable. The breakfast variety is good for 4* rated hotel with noodle/salad/pastry station and hot dishes like Thai chicken curry, fried mixed vegetable etc, good breakfast to start the day. The staffs are helpful but might hv some difficulty to understand some crucial request. I asked for no room clean but need water bottles and ended up getting none. I very like the carpetted room but I found few strains of hair left, the housekeepers could do abit more hard vacuum during cleaning I guess. Others were spotless. There a lot of eateries and shops around the hotel and this is very convenient for guests. The local post office is nearby for someone love to postcross too. Very recommend this hotel for all travellers coming to Chengdu.

I highly recommend this hotel with five stars! The location is absolutely fantastic, right in the city center. You can walk to Chunxi Road and Tianfu Square, and it's also very convenient to get to other attractions by public transport. The front desk staff were warm and polite, making check-in and check-out super fast. They also patiently helped us with directions and travel routes. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and all the facilities were well-equipped. The bathroom's wet and dry separation was very well done. After a long day of travel, coming back to the hotel for a quiet and comfortable rest was wonderful. There are tons of great food places and shops nearby, so you'll never have to worry about eating or shopping. Choosing this place for a trip to Chengdu truly takes all the hassle out of it. I stayed in an executive twin room on the 19th floor. The hotel is conveniently located right next to Tongzilin subway station, making it easy to get to Yulin and Chunxi Road. The room has been renovated and feels simple yet spacious. The two standard single beds with soft bedding provided ample space for two people. The bathroom features an open-plan shower design, without a bathtub. Booking an executive room grants exclusive access to the executive lounge, with complimentary buffet breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening happy hour. The lounge was quiet with few people, and offered a good selection of light meals and a hot noodle station. The high-floor, floor-to-ceiling windows offered expansive views of the city's nightscape in the southern part of town. All soft drinks in the in-room mini-bar were complimentary, and a coffee machine was provided, ensuring all essential amenities were available. Service was prompt, and the elevators operated smoothly. Overall, the location is convenient, and the executive lounge benefits offer great value for money. However, the bathroom setup is quite basic; I wouldn't recommend it for guests looking for a bathtub or high-end toiletries. It's a great choice for business travelers or short trips.

Every year, I visit Chengdu for a few recuperation trips, and it's always the Grand Hyatt. It feels like visiting old friends… It's been many years, and I've watched the Grand Hyatt grow and improve step by step… Every detail is a testament to the hard work of every Grand Hyatt employee! This National Day, I stayed at the Grand Hyatt again and clearly felt the changes in team management and the subtle improvement in service. The new employees were humble and enthusiastic, and the experienced staff and management showed great insight and quick, effective problem-solving skills – thumbs up! 👍 **Facilities:** The room was cozy and comfortable. The hotel had installed anti-collision protection on sharp corners in the bathroom, and anti-slip reminders around the bathtub. The peeling paint on the bathroom ceiling was also refreshed, and the room corners were clean, with toiletries replenished promptly. **Dining:** The executive lounge ambiance was still great; I especially love that touch of Hermès orange… The cakes, pastries, and drinks were unchanged, still of Grand Hyatt quality. However, the orange juice was too diluted. I suspect the Chinese chef in the executive lounge has changed, as the Chinese food has lost its previous Chengdu characteristics, and the quality of the ingredients is significantly worse than before, especially the cold mixed bean curd skin and garlic pork belly, which were particularly salty. For breakfast, the overall quality and features were maintained. Dandan noodles were still the most popular. However, most of the fruit and vegetable juices were too watered down, affecting the taste and quality. The previous carrot, celery, and bitter gourd juices were replaced by a 'vitality water' that felt cheap. The whole wheat bread was hard and not fresh enough! **Issues and Suggestions:** When collecting entrusted luggage, it's understandable that a luggage tag is required for security. However, if a guest cannot produce the luggage tag due to special circumstances, there should be alternative ways to verify the owner of the luggage, instead of demanding a photocopy of their ID. Such a non-compliant action could lead to the leakage of guest information and undesirable consequences, for which the hotel would be unable to bear responsibility! Finally, I'd like to express my gratitude once again to every staff member of the Grand Hyatt Chengdu for their hard work! I hope the Grand Hyatt Chengdu continues to thrive! Looking forward to my next visit! 👏👏👏👍👍👍🍎🍎🍎🌺🌺🌺

We had a pleasant and comfortable stay. While the convenient location and comfortable room were appreciated, it was the genuine warmth, attentiveness and hospitality of the staff that truly made our stay memorable. Thank you for making our visit to Chengdu so enjoyable! Location: The location is convenient, with around a 15-minute walk to Taikoo Li and IFS. There are also plenty of shops nearby, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Room: The room is clean and comfortable, and the bed is soft and cosy, allowing us to have a good rest after a day of sightseeing. Staff & Service: The staff are attentive, polite and helpful, and they genuinely try their best to accommodate our requests. I would especially like to commend Xiao Mei for her sincere smile and warm service, which made us feel genuinely welcomed. We also greatly appreciated the hotel’s flexibility in extending our check-out time. This thoughtful arrangement allowed us to leave at a more comfortable pace and head to the airport without feeling rushed, making our departure much more relaxing. I was also touched by the helpful lady from the laundry room, who greeted us warmly whenever we passed by and was always ready to offer assistance. Service: The service was attentive and thoughtful, and the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast: Most items were freshly made, not pre-packaged meals, which was very enjoyable. Regret: Unfortunately, my itinerary was too tight. I returned late in the evening and had to leave for Huanglong early the next morning. I didn't get to fully immerse myself in the slow pace of the courtyard, which is a small regret from this trip. I really liked the environment and the facilities. First off, my room was upgraded from Block D to Block E. While it's a bit further from the Ocean Park, it's still a very short walk. Plus, there's a hotel shuttle that runs between the lobby, Ocean Park, and the rooms, so no matter where you stay, it's perfectly fine. I also chatted with customer service manager Mr. Zhao about a 1-hour late check-out, and that was arranged smoothly. If you're two adults and one child, they offer a complimentary children's breakfast upon check-in, but you'll need to purchase an extra Ocean Park ticket for the child. This time, my kid spent two full days in the water. We checked in at 1:30 PM on the first day, had a quick rest, then changed into swimsuits and headed straight to Ocean Park. We played from 2:30 PM until 7 PM. On the second day, after breakfast, we changed back into our swimsuits and played until 2 PM, then came back, showered, and checked out. I feel like we could have easily stayed another day, as we spent all our time playing in the water and had no time for shopping.

The hotel is a little hard to find the first time, with the elevator tucked in amid an array of food vendors, but when you get up the elevator it’s a pleasant surprise how clean and well decorated it is. I was pretty flustered, having forgotten a wrist-watch in a previous hotel on our tour. I was ready to consider it lost, but their desk-staff 罗婷婷 (LuoTingTing) left me feeling assured that it would arrive in the few days I was visiting Chengdu. She had a very cheerful and calming disposition, which left me feeling like everything would be ok. The whole team at the front made me feel really welcomed, and well looked after, even the cleaning staff were all smiles and pleasant greetings in the mornings. Our room was super comfortable, and we even got a bathtub on the patio! An amazing, serene, quiet stay like no other. Don't get me wrong. 4 stars for location only because it is a little remote. It was not easy to geta Didi to go there, and we had a bit of difficulty to book a Didi leaving this beautiful heavenly resort. We arrived this beautiful homestay quite late, having spent the day in Chengdu. Didi ride was almost an hour+. Dinner was fabulous - simple, yet complex with mountain mushrooms in a hot pot. Accommodating even though the kitchen was closing due to our time of arrival. This place certainly did not disappoint. From the quietness of the streams, to the beautiful, tranquil rooms and evoked a sense of harmony and serenity with nature, we felt so at home. We basked in silence of the bamboo that spoke to themselves, and the running waters through the gentle streams. Both the service staff (names as shown - in Mandarin) were excellent and they always wore smiles as lasting as the QingCheng mountains. Service par excellence - nothing less. Thank you for taking care of us, with sincerity and gentleness as the mountains itself. A place to remember, and return. Thank you.

A perfect private hot spring guesthouse! Enjoy bliss in the mountains; the details are simply divine. This mountain hot spring guesthouse deserves five stars! From the moment I stepped into the courtyard, my positive impression soared—the idyllic mountain setting was incredibly soothing, the air filled with the scent of nature, completely away from the crowds. The private hot spring water was reassuringly clean, and the intelligent temperature control was a thoughtful touch. Soaking in it instantly melted away all my fatigue. In the evening, paired with a home theater, the comfort was simply unparalleled. The guesthouse's details were even more stunning: the rustic yet exquisite decor created a wonderful atmosphere, the teaware was so delicate I almost didn't want to leave it behind, and afternoon tea with the mountain view was incredibly pleasant; the smart appliances in the bathroom were convenient and high-end, and even the sweet fermented rice balls with brown sugar were incredibly soft and delicious—you could feel the owner's care. The owner's hospitality and the two adorable dogs were the biggest pluses! Playing with the dogs and taking them for walks felt like being at a friend's house. This stay was so comfortable; I'm already thinking about coming back again. Highly recommended, a top choice for family trips!

This is our second stay within a week (after 2 nights at Jiuzhaigou). When we returned, it’s comforting to be greeted warmly by Xiao Zhang at the reception again (he checked us in one our first stay). Although the staff are on shifts and we met different people each day, everyone showed the same level of friendliness and helpfulness. We enjoyed a free upgrade again and loved the room with modern decor, and opportunity to wash our clothes before heading out again. We’re convinced that Sungold is the perfect base to explore Chengdu and other attractions in Sichuan. We’re off to Dujiangyan and Qingchen, and will be back here again for another 2 nights!

Ever since I received such warm assistance from the Shangri-La during the pandemic, I've chosen this hotel every time I visit Chengdu. Although the hotel is a bit older, all its facilities are very well-maintained. The gym has a full range of high-quality equipment, and the changing rooms offer both steam and dry saunas, as well as a hot tub, definitely meeting a five-star standard. Towels are always plentiful. Housekeeping is punctual every day, and there's even a turn-down service between 6 and 7 PM. I find the breakfast quite good, with a variety of options including Japanese cuisine. The location is also excellent; for younger, more energetic guests, the Lan Kwai Fong bar street is just 100 meters to the right of the hotel. All things considered, the Shangri-La remains one of the top hotels in Chengdu.

The location is excellent; you can walk to Hejiang Pavilion and Taikoo Li. The area is lively, yet the hotel itself is very quiet. The executive lounge was closed, but all benefits were moved to the all-day dining on the first floor. Both afternoon tea and happy hour were decent. The minibar and complimentary laundry service were a nice touch. Service was prompt and the staff were friendly. However, shortly after I booked, the pool was suddenly announced to be closed. When I spoke to the front desk, they said they didn't have the authority to upgrade me to a suite. Upon check-out, they mistakenly charged for the complimentary laundry service. I only realized it after leaving and had to go back to remind them to refund the extra deposit, which was a bit annoying.

Chengdu Jinjiang Hotel is about to celebrate its 70th anniversary, and the philosophy of making guests feel at home is deeply ingrained in every staff member. Everyone I encountered in the hotel had a smile on their face. Although some rooms are currently undergoing renovation, you won't feel any inconvenience from the construction. The breakfast is rich and the service is meticulous. Because of my old age and poor eyesight, I couldn't find the toiletries. A staff member immediately brought them to me and pointed out where they were placed. It turned out I had mistakenly blamed the staff, but from the lobby to the service staff, everyone greeted me with smiles and genuine sincerity.

We booked a family room with a small balcony, and both the elderly and children had a very comfortable stay. The hotel service was thoughtful and accommodating, always ready to help. The location is great, about a 12-minute walk to Chunxi Road and Taikoo Li. The bathroom had no unpleasant odors and was cleaned thoroughly every day. The only drawback was that the air conditioning was a bit noisy. Overall, we were very satisfied with the hotel.

Our twin room had a fantastic view, directly facing the 339 TV Tower, which offered a stunning night view. The hotel organized a wide variety of well-planned family activities that our kids thoroughly enjoyed. The room was clean and comfortable, the overall service was attentive, and the facilities were in good condition. It's a perfect choice for families traveling together, and we were very satisfied with our stay.

The service was unsatisfactory, but thankfully Manager Jiang stepped in and resolved the crisis promptly! The hotel's renovation must have been quite expensive, though it's a shame the maintenance is lacking. The massage chair in the room was quite comfortable! Thumbs up for the bedding and breakfast!!!

The W Hotel Chengdu truly stands out among the many luxury hotels in the city. It's young, stylish, trendy, and full of vibrant energy – luxurious without being 'old money,' high-end yet incredibly chic. Every restaurant has its own unique background music, and every staff member radiates a youthful glow. The breakfast selection is quite rich, featuring handmade Dan Dan noodles and 'chaoshou' (Sichuan wontons), as well as pan-fried buns, all of which are delicious. They offer three different Haagen-Dazs ice cream flavors daily, and the rum raisin and macadamia nut flavors are particularly good. The bread offered at breakfast is also exceptionally tasty, with classics like almond croissants, floss bread, and muffin cupcakes. I want to extend a special thank you to the hotel's management and operations team for their professional, warm, and thoughtful service during my family's stay. This includes Front Office Manager Eaton, Style Director Polly, Assistant Front Office Manager Amber, Duty Manager Covey, Peter, and many other staff members whose names I didn't get to remember. My sincere thanks and best wishes go out to all of them! The W Chengdu is definitely worth another visit!

I really enjoyed the stay in the hotel! Everyone were super keen to help and the hotel room itself was really clean no weird smells and spacious. The location is quiet and nice. 5 min walk from the metro and there are bikes parked right outside so you can ride wherever. There’s only one washing machine but they were completely ok with my delayed checkout due to waiting to the dryer to end. Didn’t take photos of my room but it was exactly as the pictures they put if not better:)

Every time I come to Chengdu, I choose Hilton. This time I brought my family to Chengdu for a trip, and the experience was excellent. The hotel facilities are comprehensive, and the breakfast is abundant. The Executive Lounge's happy hour also offers a great selection, which can even serve as an alternative for dinner. A special thanks to Guest Relations Manager Racine Zhou for her thoughtful arrangements. She inquired about my arrival time before check-in to ensure everything was ready, and I appreciate that she handled my feedback from my previous stay appropriately. I will definitely be returning often!

We drove to Chengdu, and since there are traffic restrictions based on license plates, having a parking lot at this hotel was incredibly convenient. The security guard was also very kind and welcoming. The front desk staff was diligent and responsible. The room wasn't huge, but it was very elegant, and the bedding was super comfortable. There are lots of great food options nearby, and it's really close to Chunxi Road. If you want to go to Sanxingdui, you can just take a bus from Chunxi Road. Chengdu truly is a relaxing city! After a long day of sightseeing, coming back and having some tea was just perfect. The front desk even gave us a Wenshu Monastery prayer bracelet with 18 beads!

The location is excellent, very close to Metro Line 2 and convenient for buses. Kuanzhai Alley is also nearby and within walking distance. There are plenty of dining options in the surrounding area, catering to all budgets. The room was spacious enough, and it came with tea bags, soft candies, and cookies. In the hallway, there were cold fruit drinks and hot coffee available. All the hotel staff were very friendly. The hygiene was good, and the facilities were neither new nor old. The bathroom occasionally had a slight odor, but that's a minor point, and overall, I highly recommend it.

Our stay was excellent, and the hotel breakfast truly exceeded expectations. The buffet counter, adorned with dark green marble, was exquisitely arranged. There was a wide variety of fresh salads, cold cuts, breads, and hot dishes. The food presentation, complemented by floral decorations, created a wonderful ambiance. The ingredients were fresh, the choices abundant, catering to both Western and Chinese tastes, and the quality was consistently good. The city night view we saw during our evening stroll was also stunning. The elevated walkway offered expansive views, with the building lights scattered beautifully, creating a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. Overall, the hotel's facilities were top-notch, and the service was attentive. It was a very pleasant stay, highly recommended.

I have to say, this is one of the most satisfying hotels I've ever stayed in. The lobby smells lovely, and there's free coffee and drinks! The service is also exceptionally good; the front desk staff are polite and helpful, and the housekeeping ladies always greet you proactively, which is very pleasant. It's also very convenient for getting around, being close to the subway and bus stations – just a 2-minute walk. It's also near Chunxi Road and Jiuyan Bridge. There's a laundry room on the first floor with free 24-hour use of washing machines and dryers, which is really convenient! Overall, I'll definitely stay here again!

We chose this hotel because it was close to the zoo and panda base, and the receptionist, Xiao Shu, greeted us warmly as soon as we entered the lobby. She gave our child candy and even provided slippers and a children's toothbrush – very thoughtful! The hotel environment was great, and there were many snack shops, hot pot restaurants, barbecue restaurants, and skewers restaurants nearby, all with delicious food. The room was very clean, well-equipped, and the shower temperature was just right. The air conditioning was also very smart. We could call the front desk for any issues, and they always resolved them promptly. The service was truly excellent.
