Castrup Sea Bathing (Kastrup Sea Bath) is considered a fully usable outdoor swimming facility, transforming a neglected beach into one of Denmark's most charming, well-known and popular leisure resorts. Kastrup Sea Bath was built in 2004-05 and is located in Strandpark Seaside Park on the east coast of Copenhagen. Designed by White Architects. Kastrup Sea Bath affectionately known as "snail", consists of pool walls, new beaches and service buildings, with bathrooms and accessible dressing rooms. The form is responsive to the north facing beach. A wooden pier extends from the coast and bends to form a south-facing circular wall. The pier gradually rises above sea level and ends with a five-metre long diving platform. The circular exterior creates a centralized interior space that is sheltered from the wind and provides an ideal haven for swimming and sunbathing. Continuous benches stretch along the pier, providing extra space for relaxation and reflection. Inclusiveness is an important part of the concept. Kastrup Sea Bath is designed as an unconventional framework for outdoor sports to accommodate peaceful evening swimming, sports or entertainment regardless of age or physical activity needs. Ramps and other special features allow for fewer mobile visitors to fully access. All 870 square meters of wooden decks are for visitors. Kastrup admission is free and open to the public at any time.
