The National Museum of Iraq was founded by British tourist and writer Gertrude Bell (Gertrude Bell) and opened the main entrance of the National Museum of Iraq in 1926. It was originally named the Archaeological Museum of Baghdad (Baghdad Archaeological Museum). After relocating to Arawa in 1966, it was expanded in 1983 and divided into seven sections and 28 exhibition halls. The National Museum of Iraq is listed as one of the 11 largest museums in the world by UNESCO. It contains about 250,000 precious historical relics, covering all the historical periods of Iraq dating back 100,000 years to the Stone Age and the middle of the 19th century. It also houses more than 70,000 rare and good books in various texts, and about 6,000 orphan manuscripts. In terms of popularity and collections, especially in the archaeological excavations of early human civilizations, only the Egyptian National Museum in Cairo can match it.

Located in the Mesopotamia Plain, about 4,000 years ago, people here established a country and appeared a kingdom. It is one of the "Four Ancient Civilizations". It was originally an Arkad city. History can be traced back to the Arkad Empire about 4,300 years ago. Mesopotamia is called the land of Shina in the Bible, meaning "land between the two rivers", and is also called the two river basins.

The ancient city of Samara is located on the banks of the Tigris River, 125 kilometers north of Baghdad, built in 850 AD, the site is now preserved in the Samara Grand Mosque and the spiral tower, which is called the Marweya Tower, is the minaret of the mosque, 52 meters high, unique shape, Combined with the architectural style of the Assyrian temple tower. There is no protection next to the spiral ramp leading to the tower. The attic on the top of the tower is a circular plane about 5 - 6 meters in diameter. You can go up through small stairs to accommodate several people standing on it, but there are no railings around, and people are concentrated near the center of the circle. If you are a little closer to the edge, you will be scared.

Amna Suraka in Sulaimaniyah was a Ba'ath Party govennment office used by Saddam Hussein to direct military operations against both the Iranians and Iraqi Kurds during the Iran-Iraq war. In 1991 it was overrun by Kurdish fighters (I remember watching this on the news as a kid), and most of the buildings complete with bullet and bomb holes, military hardware etc were left where they stand. The interrogation/torture center in the building next door has been turned into an impressive albeit depressing museum documenting how information and confessions were 'obtained' by Kurdish (mostly) civilians. Many, many thousands of people were killed - in some truly hideous ways - here.

The Unknown Warrior Monument was built in Baghdad shortly after the start of the Iran-Iraq war in 1980 and represents traditional shields that fell from the dead Iraqi warriors. The discs are suspended and supported by cube columns made of layers of metal. The cube itself is connected to a semi-underground museum by a window, and light can be illuminated from above.
