Gaochang Huihu Royal Buddha Temple Site

Locally known as "West Temple". It is located about 700 meters west of Beiting Old City. The temple is facing south, with the main hall and the east and west side halls. It is 70.5 meters long from north to south, 43.8 meters wide from east to west, and the main hall is over 14 meters high. In the east side hall, there is a sleeping Buddha with a residual chieftain of 13 meters, head north and feet south, sleeping peacefully. The 15 Buddhist niches on the east side of the main hall have been repaired, and each cave has Buddha statues and murals. The Buddha statue in the niche is similar in size to the real person. The content of the murals mostly reflects Buddhist stories, as well as the portraits of the supporters of the Uyghur royal family in Gaochang and their lives and tours. In the center of the main hall of the Buddhist temple, the residual height of the sitting Buddha is about 10 meters. Beiting Xida Temple was built in the 10th century AD and buried by the Uighurs in Gaochang, but was destroyed in the war in the early Ming Dynasty.
