Getting There - Taxi or car from Chenzhou takes about 30 minutes. Close to Fetian mountain. Attractions - Scenic views, hiking trails, small rural village with a chicken farm, glass bridge Hotels - none close by, closest in Chenzhou Food & Restaurants - small stands selling water and snacks but no restaurants. Gaoyiling scenic area is an amazing place for walking and hiking and seeing awesome views. The landscape is interbedded red sandstone hills with steep drops into rivers and small lakes surrounding. The views are simply awe inspiring. When walking around here I would recommend a sun umbrella, sun screen and lots of water. You can buy water and other drinks here from the locals. There is a 20RMB charge to enter the hiking trails. When high on some hills take extreme caution near edges as the drop offs are steep and lethal, some are not fenced off. The only downside is the hills have quite a lot of trash so make sure to take yours home with you and be a good tourist. It's also extremely hot here in peak summer so maybe avoid that time of year. #staycation #mountainview

GaoYi Ridge(高椅岭), located in GaoYi Village, Chenzhou, Hunan Province, China, is famous for its stunning red cliffs and brooks with greenery. If lucky enough, you can see some wild goats. There are some steep stairs, but you won't feel tired at all with such amazing views. Visit hours: 2-3 hours Best time: 4- 7 PM, when it's not too hot but also can enjoy nice sunset. Before going, I did some research. Although entering from the west gate allows quick access to the top, the ninety-eight yuan ticket is indeed a bit regrettable, as it will make you miss many beautiful scenes along the way. If you don't particularly hate climbing mountains, I suggest you follow my route and you won't go wrong! Enter from the south gate and exit from the north gate. Since I drove there, I crossed a pontoon bridge near the north gate and came out from the south gate. The whole journey does not involve any backtracking, and you can pass all the checkpoints! Climbing to the top from the south gate is relatively closer than from the north gate. It took me about 40 minutes to reach the top. During the descent from the north gate, although the route was a bit circuitous, the scenery was beautiful, and it was clearly more photogenic than the ascent, especially when I reached the megalithic array at the bottom of the mountain just in time for the sunset, it was really too beautiful! I walked relatively fast, taking about 2 and a half hours for the whole journey, including walking and taking photos. I arrived at 4 pm, so it wasn't too hot since it was late, but I still recommend that ladies do a good job with sun protection, as there are indeed few shaded spots along the way.

Since the attractions are quite far apart, it is recommended to book a ride-share through a legitimate platform. Although you may encounter drivers who charge extra, it is still generally economical. Landscape and Food Exploration: The first recommended destination is Gaoyiling, known for its spectacular Danxia landform. The best time to visit is on a clear day, which will result in better photo outcomes. For ticket prices, students with valid IDs can enjoy a half-price discount at only 49 yuan; adults pay 96 yuan. The tour route includes the Stonehenge, the challenging Dengyun Ladder, cliff plank walkways, the Giant Lizard Lake resembling a green iguana, Dragon's Back, suspension bridges, and the Shouting Spring among many other unique landscapes. Remember to bring supplies, as goods are relatively expensive at the mountain top. In the evening, head to the freely accessible Yuhou Street, which, as the lights come on, feels like a 'Little Suzhou' in the Jiangnan water town style. Consider climbing the arch bridge for a panoramic view of Yuhou Street and try on various ethnic costumes for a photo shoot. The next morning, be sure to visit the enchanting Dongjiang Lake, where the misty surface of the lake at this time creates a unique atmosphere. Depending on your schedule, you can choose different routes; student tickets are only 40 yuan. If you're on a tight schedule and can only experience Route One, it's still enough to enjoy the beauty of Xiao Dongjiang, watch the fisherman's net casting performance, take a leisurely boat ride, take commemorative photos, visit waterfalls, the hydroelectric station, and ride the thrilling 'over-mountain' sightseeing car. Additionally, the food by Dongjiang Lake is equally tempting, with local snacks like fried salmon, Qiao Mouth Fish, and desserts like Bing Fen and Ci Ba, all of which are not to be missed. Accommodation Strategy: We chose a homestay in a villa area near Dongjiang Lake, which was quiet and elegant, surrounded by beautiful peach blossoms. 📹 Only for sharing, please do not overinterpret, everyone has their preferred routes. Due to the next part of our journey, we didn't have much time. We drove from Changsha to Gaoyiling and parked our car at the Gaoyiling Scenic Area North Gate parking lot 🅿️ There will be some aunties wearing hats there who will persistently mislead you, saying that there is a shuttle bus that can take you directly from the top of the mountain for 40 yuan per person. They will claim that you can't hail a taxi here, and even if you do, the taxi drivers won't know how to get up there, whereas the shuttle bus (private car) drivers know the route well, and they will mention a long stretch of mountain road. Don't listen to their nonsense! The so-called shuttle bus they mentioned is actually just a one-way trip from the North Gate to the West Gate entrance.！！ North Gate parking lot 🅿️ The distance to the West Gate is less than 2 kilometers! I directly hailed a ride on Amap for only ten yuan! From the West Gate, there are motorcycles 🛵, and you can choose whether to take one or not. There's about a ten-minute journey on flat ground, and if you choose the motorcycle, it costs 10 yuan per person to be taken to the starting point of the scenic spots. It takes about two and a half hours to play all the way to the North Gate, just enough time to see all the sights in one go. It's a bit tiring but manageable. If you enter from the South Gate or North Gate (which are very close to each other), it might not be so easy to hail a taxi from the West Gate. But walking from the South or North Gate to the scenic spots and back again is too tiring.
