Lake Saint-Cross, also known as the Saint-Cross Reservoir, is located at the entrance of the Grand Canyon of Verdon in the Provence region of southern France. The Saint-Cross Dam was built in 1974 to block the Verdon River in the valley. It forms the second largest reservoir in France, named the Saint-Cross Lake. Lake Santa Cross is a man-made reservoir formed by artificial dams. The entire lake is about 22 square kilometers, and the deepest part of the lake is 90 meters. The blue lake forms a beautiful landscape, the clear lake is adjacent to the steep stone walls, the gentle sandy beaches and the green mountains, all the beauty here people think of the fairyland. There are ten thousand cliffs, winding streams, clear lakes, and more continuous mountains, which are a good place to embrace nature. Every summer, many people come here to climb, swim, kayak, and the surrounding waters with sand have been opened as natural baths or camped here. Water sports enthusiasts can compete in the lake, visitors can also camp or fish on the lakeside, enjoy the magnificent natural beauty around Holy Cross Lake. #I am a traveler #I am a traveler #Where to go for the Dragon Boat Festival
The most beautiful lake in Provence, France - Lake Santa Cross (play guide + accommodation recommendation + food recommendation) Lake Santa Cross is known as the most beautiful lake in Provence. The best way to visit this area is by car, and public transportation is slightly inconvenient. When we first saw the Holy Cross Lake (Lac de Sainte-Croix) just at sunset, watching the sunset scattered on this calm lake, we really couldn't help but exclaim! It's really beautiful and dreamy! Lake Santa Cross is not actually a natural lake, but a reservoir built in 1974, connecting the Verdun Grand Canyon, the second largest reservoir in France. The place where we took the sunset is at the West Exit Bridge of Verdun Canyon. This is the best place to shoot Santa Cross Lake. Because the lake is rich in fluorine and microalgae, it looks particularly green. (Figure 1) It is also a good time to shoot the lake in the early morning, when there are fewer tourists and you can take clean pictures. (Figure 2) If summer comes, you can swim or rent a boat, but our season for travel is October, autumn in France is quite cold, basically can not enter the water! (Figure 3) There are several towns around Holy Cross Lake, such as the ceramic town (Moustiers-Sainte-Marie), the lavender holy site Valensole and the Lesales-sur-Ferdon where I chose to stay (Les Salles-sur-Verdon), because it is on Holy Cross Lake, And this is also the starting point for my next self-driving Verdun Grand Canyon. The town of Lesale on the River Verdun is very, very small. There is a small church in the town, which is very simple. (Figure 4) It takes about an hour to simply circle the town, but there are many cost-effective hotels and restaurants. [Recommended accommodation] Accommodation: Oberzi De Cyrus Hotel Auberge des Salles (Recommended index:) Address: 18 Rue St Catherine, 83630 Les Sales-sur-Ferdon, France Rate: 83 euros 1 night City tax: 1.6 Euro 1 night Whether it comes with parking: yes. This hotel is two stars, the facilities are old, but the price is good, and! There is also a lake view room, the price is very reasonable, so it is recommended~~~ (Figure 5) The balcony of the hotel looks out to the Holy Cross Lake, which just happens to be a beautiful sunset, which is very pleasing to the eye. (Figure 6) [Recommended Restaurant] Restaurant: L'Escapade (Recommended Index:) Address: 2 rue Pierre Blanche | 83630 Les Salles sur Verdon, 83630 Les-Salles-sur-Verdon, France A restaurant ranked third in TripAdvisor. The restaurant environment is quite good. It feels not only tourists, but also locals. The restaurant is authentic French cuisine, the taste is generally good, the price is not expensive, and the service is great. (Figures 7, 8) Don't forget to get here to order local beer from Verdun Canyon. This is quite famous in the local area. It has a strong wheat flavor and is very fragrant. You must try it! The Tiffany Blue Lake of Santa Cross is in stark contrast to the blue sky, which is really beautiful. The guide suggested that the three of us rent a boat, which was even to our hearts. There are many people to rent a boat. Although the queue is long, there are many boats on the shore so there is no waiting too long. The boat has hand rowing, foot pedaling and electric, we chose foot pedaling, 15 euros/hour. Although the sun is very strong at this time, it is rippling on the blue waves, the breeze is light, and there is a group of people who are happy around. This short hour is very pleasant and enjoyable in retrospect.
If you think that there is only a sea of flowers in Provence, you are wrong! From a purple lavender road drives for tens of kilometers, turning the green barrier of trees, a pure Tiffany blue so unpredictably, the first sight of the Holy Cross Lake is conquered by its beauty! The Holy Cross Lake is connected to the Verdun Grand Canyon, and the blue lake forms a beautiful landscape, with quiet lake water and fine sandy beaches like a paradise. There are ten thousand cliffs, winding streams, clear lakes, and more continuous mountains, which are a good place to embrace nature. This is the most famous summer campground in the South France region, the cliffs, the creeks, the lakes with clear visible bottoms, and the mountains are more continuous. It is a good place to embrace nature, both rock climbing and kayaking. But for us, such a beautiful scenery, must fly the plane to take a picture of the blue scenery in the canyon.
