Colorful Hill

Zhangye's Danxia landform is concentrated in the two counties of Linze and Sunan, Gansu, and is one of the most typical and largest Danxia landform landscapes in China's arid region. The area of Zhangye's palace-style Danxia landform and colored hills totals more than 300 square kilometers.

It was named one of the "10 magical geographical wonders of the world" by National Geographic magazine. Danxia refers to the isolated peaks and steep rocks formed by long-term weathering and erosion of red gravel.
