The Athletic Plaza (Piazza dell'Anfiteatro) is a public square in the northeastern quadrant of the center of the city wall in Tuscany, Italy. The buildings around the square are surrounded by ovals, the former oval of the second-century Roman amphitheater Luca. The square can be reached through four gateways at the four vertices of the ellipse. The cross is engraved on the square's central tiles, with the arm pointing to the square's four entrances. The bottom of the former amphitheatre (which dates back to the 1st or 2nd centuries BC) is now 3 meters lower than the center. At the peak, there were about 18 rows of amphitheatre seats that accommodated about 10,000 spectators.

The Athletic Plaza, located in downtown Lucca, is historically an arena. The square is surrounded by traditional Roman-style old houses. The square is not big. There are many shops around the square. There will be a market on holidays.
The small square is very special, in fact, it was an arena before, and there are many restaurants in the square.
