Nakuru National Park (NAKURU) is located in Nakuru Town, Rift Valley Province, covering an area of 188 square kilometers, and at altitude of 1753-2073, it is a park specially built to protect birds. Lake Nakulu is famous for its flamingoes. The lake is located in a volcanic belt and the lake has a high salinity and is suitable for plankton growth as a staple food for flamingoes. In addition, there are about 450 species of birds in the park, and there are many large animals in addition to birds, such as macaques, jumping rabbits, clawless otter, rocky civets, black rhinos, etc. The lake area varies with the rainy season. In 1960, the government designated the lake as a bird sanctuary, and in 1968 it was expanded to a national park. It is the first national park in Africa to protect birds.
