Great for Kanto region river transport & flood control history
The museum excellently describes the key role of Sekiyado for river transport & communications in the Kanto area before rail & roads. There are displays showing how the Tone river, by early 18th centu...
Sekiyado Castle offered a lot of very interesting information on the efforts of Edo Period Japanese to control the flow of rivers, protect from flooding, and build canals for trade. The history of the...
Full of history inside the museum, photograps are not allowed inside, ther is a small entrance fee to go inside the museum, two hours using bicycle from yachiyo machi, first time to go inside a castle...
I went by car, but it was on a hill than I expected and I could see the surrounding scenery better. 200 yen for adults. Free for those over 65 years old. If you climb the castle, it will be a nicer view. As far as the eye can see, it is a plain, and you can see Mt. Tsukuba, Mt. Nantai, and Mt. Fuji if the air is clear. The contents of the permanent exhibition room were exhibits such as river improvements on the Tone River and Edo River and river transportation. The contents of the exhibition in the planning exhibition room were exhibitions related to the Sekijuku domain. The multipurpose room was holding a panel exhibition of "Riverside Birds". About the history of the Tone River and the Edo River ...
