After a long design and construction process, it was completed on October 12, 1931. The statue is 30 meters tall, weighs 1145 tons, and its outstretched arms are 28 meters long. It stands atop Corcovado Mountain (also known as the Humpback Mountain or Christ the Redeemer Mountain) in the Rio de Janeiro National Forest Park, over 700 meters high, overlooking the entire city. The statue, including its base, is approximately 38 meters tall and took five years to build. As a "postcard" of Rio, the Christ the Redeemer statue illuminates with colored lights on the nights of important holidays, anniversaries, or major events to convey messages. It attracts nearly 2 million visitors annually.
