Free wifi and the restaurant is excellent!
I came to Hateruma to bicycle, to camp, and to see Japan’s southernmost point. However, almost continuous rain forced me to hang out at the ferry station several hours. The free wifi is great. The caf...
Does what it is meant to do. Clean toilets, vending machines, a patio to wait for the ferries shielded by the sun... only negative side: the absolute lack of trash cans, which can be kinda frustratin...
When I arrived by regular ship from Ishigaki Port, a welcome slogan was written on the revetment of the quay, and I felt refreshed when I arrived at the island of "the southernmost". The harbor itself seems to double as a fishing port, and it had a quiet atmosphere except when the regular high-speed ships departed and arrived three round trips a day. I saw people fishing on the revetment, and I waved at the time of departure.
