　After leaving Kusatsu Onsen, I headed north on National Highway 292. From the hot spring town, a winding and steep uphill continues. As I climbed the altitude while swelling along the mountainside of Mt. Shirane, I felt the breath of nature in the smell of sulfur and the changing scenery unique to the volcanic area. Further, I passed the highest point of the Japanese national highway at an altitude of 2172 ｍ and arrived at Shiga Kogen just next to Mt. Yokote.
