The beautiful scenic drive.
Always very nice to drive this area except winter. Along the route you will see many trees, flower, and find hot spring where you can take a bath/ need pay day use.
A refreshing mountain route with the highest point of Japan national highway!

After leaving Kusatsu Onsen, I headed north on National Highway 292. From the hot spring town, a winding and steep uphill continues. As I climbed the altitude while swelling along the mountainside of Mt. Shirane, I felt the breath of nature in the smell of sulfur and the changing scenery unique to the volcanic area. Further, I passed the highest point of the Japanese national highway at an altitude of 2172 m and arrived at Shiga Kogen just next to Mt. Yokote. This area allows you to experience the magnificent nature of Joshin-etsu Kogen National Park ...
I touring by bicycle with a friend. There were many motorcycles, but there were many bicycles! The climb is tough, but the scenery is beautiful and eye-catching. It's about an hour and a half from Kusatsu, but it's a quick return.
You can enjoy the scenery that seems to be an extraordinary volcanic area and the scenery of a plateau that soothes your feelings. It's a pretty nice route. And free. Please try it.

I thought it was snowing, so I checked the road situation of the Shiga Kusatsu Kogen route of National Highway 292, but there was no update on the day, and the day before was 「 passable 」, so I went by car for the time being. There were many cars in GW, and it was a comfortable drive as usual until the middle, but after running for a while, the cherry blossoms changed to white birch, and the swamp began to be seen sideways ...
