Amazing experience. Tour is all on your own, you’re given a map to explore. There’s a gift shop where you buy the tickets, very inexpensive. Suggest getting water before starting especially in summer months. You get details on the prisoners and cells as you walk throughout the yard. there’s also a theatre to watch a short film on the history of the grounds.

We went late morning and we were very pleased to see humming birds in two different locations on our walk along the Colorado river. There were also other birds singing there heads off. Quail running in the bushes. Very relaxing place to linger.

This is a very nice linear park in the downtown historic district of Yuma. Facilities include a picnic area with grills, fishing pier, playground, beach and restrooms. Parking is free. We stayed at the Garden Inn adjacent to the park and were able to walk the paved trail along the river to the Colorado River State Historic Park and to restaurants on Main St. There is a restored vintage steam locomotive on display next to the hotel and also several small museums nearby in the downtown area such as Sanguinetti House and Yuma History Museum. Gateway Park connects to East and West Wetland Parks so it's possible to walk a couple of miles along the river. Wheelchair access is very good. The Territorial Prison Historic Park is just east of Gateway Park and within walking distance for some people, but the trail was uphill and not paved. We wanted to walk the whole distance of the river trail but it started raining so we had to cut it short. We enjoyed it and would like to return soon

Went here for a square dance festival. Tons of parking. Easy to get to but not sure about public transportation. Never saw any food vendors.

Actually looking for about 6-7 rooms, one of which is a chocolate shop. They are all packed with information and artefacts about the town and the Sanguinetti family. The lectures were very good and very friendly. You can take a guided tour but we just took a self tour and it took about an hour to walk through. The garden was quiet but not much to see when we were there. A bit like the backyard area where they might host events. I'm sure it'll be more fun when things are in full bloom. Overall, it's a great way to get to know Yuma and Sanguinettis. You can certainly use it as part of a day trip to the ancient city of Yuma.

We were in Chicago for a family party in July and decided to go here, and each of us enjoyed our day here. I loved the dark places and picnic tables on the grass and there were a lot of people gathered around. Some of us enjoy the sunbathing here while others enjoy the beach and sea water here. They often check the facilities here are safe and clean the water in time, which is great. There is a swimming lane in the middle, and anyone who wants to enter the deep water area has to do a swimming test. It’s really a good idea. There are also places to buy food and it’s affordable, it’s delicious, there are healthy or vegetarian options. Unlike Six Flags or Disneyland, I was pleasantly surprised that the burgers, salads and sandwiches were not expensive. It was a beautiful venue and very clean!

Three couples went for mini-golf one afternoon. The place is huge! Lots of this to do. Grab a beverage and snacks too.

Wow! The world’s largest collection of Ford Model T cars. If you’re in Yuma, make sure you drive 20 miles away... one person’s collection, Mr. Cloud has more than Henry Ford!

Take Picacho Rd north out of Winterhaven; continue 18 more miles on the dirt road which is well maintained. Expect a safe speed 20-30 miles per hour. Around mile 12 is an active gold mine and a historic marker with its history. This is a fee for use park, so bring cash. It is self registration. Be sure to pack water and food.We didn’t explore much of the park but did venture out the River Overlook Road. This is one car wide only and no areas to pass. At one point it seriously felt like we were on a curving roller coaster track. Very nerve racking. The road does end at a wider area to turn around and park. Beware it does end over a cliff with no barricades. The view was stunning . We drove a Jeep Cherokee low clearance vehicle. Four wheel drive not necessary.

Lots of offers in the small area centered on the Colorado River for the former ferry and river boat landing (hence the name " Yuma Crossing"). It is not only a scenic spot, but a lot of different historical sites. I suggest starting with the Visitor Information Center in N. 4th Avenue to get to know all the attractions and plan your visit. The Information Center is located at the entrance of the Colorado River State Historical Park (charged), so this may be your first stop - visit the restored Quartermaster Warehouse. You can walk from the information center along the paths paved along the Colorado River to Gatway Park, Riverside Park and Territorial Prison State Historic Park, and even venture into the East and West Wetlands area. There is a beach where you can swim/wad, a playground and some nice fishing grounds. Many educational signs throughout the heritage area illustrate the importance of the sites. A restored steam locomotive is displayed next to Garden Inn Hotel, and the mini train operates every weekend in Riverside Park (the cool month of the year) 2 times a month. The historic downtown main street is just a few steps from the river and offers restaurants, shops and public art. Downtown also has restored adobe houses, as well as small museums such as Sanguinetti's former residence and the Yuma Historical Museum. Nearby Armed Forces Park commemorates our veterans. Most amenities seem to be fairly new, which seems to be a developing area. We spent the whole day walking around and didn't have time to see everything, so we planned to go back again.
