Echizen Washi Village paper-making experience!!
My artist daughter found this paper making village and this studio/museum in particular online--Echizen seems to be the region and Udatsu the village in particular. A gorgeous, alpine-like area 90 min...
If you're interested in the making of paper, please join these lovely ladies in their museum. I can't speak Japanese and they don't understand English, but their demonstrations helped us to communica...
Echizen Washi tools are on display, and it seems that you can experience making Washi. There are promenades and parking lots nearby, so it seems that it used to be the center of the town called Former Imatachi Town, Imatachi County.
A craft museum that was relocated and restored from a paper-making house in the middle of Echizen Washi no Sato-dori. It is a place where you can see traditional craftsmen making Japanese paper using old-fashioned tools and dried Japanese paper in the sun. The house of the wife is a style.
You can watch the paper-skinning demonstration that you have seen on TV. When you enter the building, you will smell the indescribable smell of the raw material (kozo or mitsumata). The grandmother demonstrated it, but I was very impressed when she was explained, "I don't have any studies, but I've been living for many years with this skill." I want you to be fine. Unlike the previous story, the flowers of the mitsumata have a good scent. It's strange.
