Jiaxing | The cloudy Moon River also has the charm of the Jiangnan region
🚗 The Moon River Historical District is one of the most intact, largest, and most reflective of the residential and cultural characteristics of the Jiangnan water towns in the urban area of Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. The district is based on the parallel layout of 'three rivers and three streets'—the 'Grand Canal', 'Outer Moon River', and 'Inner Moon River' run almost parallel to each other and converge near the North Li Bridge, creating a spatial layout with distinctive features; 'Zhongji Road', 'Tan Alley', and 'Xiushui Pocket Street' became bustling commercial areas due to their proximity to the canal and the prefectural city. In the past, 'Zhongji Road' was lined with shops on both sides, bustling with merchants and traders.
🚗 The winding alleys and streets crisscross, and the narrow rivers, old residential houses, and other features restore and display the strong ancient town style of the water town. Inside the scenic area, there are attractions from six major venues including the Jiangxi Guild Hall, Goldfish Yard, Dachang Pawnshop, Jiahe Water Post, Gao Gongsheng Soy Sauce Garden, and the God of Wealth Hall. The Moon River District is an ideal place to explore the old appearance of the Jiangnan prefectural city while enjoying the prosperity of century-old brands.
🚗 I've been to Jiaxing several times but never visited Moon River. This time I made an appointment with a local friend to take a tour and have a meal. I originally thought it was just an ordinary ancient town, but I didn't expect it to be quite large. There is an area that seems to be uninhabited, but I feel it has the original atmosphere of the ancient town (but my local friend told me it's a bar street, quiet during the day and lively at night).
🚗 The picture is a corner of the ancient town, a place I really like, with the charm of 'small bridges over flowing water and households'. If you go there, be sure to check it out!
In the evening, go shopping for a while, have dinner, and then go shopping to see the night scene, a total of almost an hour and a half. The lights are very beautiful. The bar area on the side may be due to the epidemic, or it may not be at night. It is a bit depressed. The main neighborhood is very lively. There is a dumpling cultural museum. It is free. You can visit it. There is a post office by the Moon River in the main block, which can send postcards.
To be honest, it is a good place here, but unfortunately there are too few people, maybe because of the hot weather. The historical atmosphere inside is very strong, and there is also a dumpling museum, which tells about some unique customs of Jiaxing people. There is a moon Henan pier next to it, you can take a water bus to experience it.
Yuehe Ancient Town was very lively on the weekend. Walking on the old street, only people came and went. There are various snacks and small shops on both sides. There is also Jiaxing's unique dumpling museum, free of charge, you can learn the past and present life of dumplings, it is not easy to become a brand. The old street is not big, there is a flower and bird market at the end, and it is more beautiful to take a boat tour after the lights are on at night.
There are three piers in total, all of which will dock, and the docking time is counted in the tour time. There are indoor seats on the boat, and outdoor seats on the stern. Mineral water will be issued after boarding. There is a light show at night, the simple one, it will not be very awkward. I want to hear the introduction to sit indoors, and I can't hear anything outside. Of course, you can see more clearly outside. The site of the Nanhu Conference cannot be boarded at night, only during the day. Night tour is expensive, a bit worth the money, does not distinguish between adult children, unified fare.
Commercialized highly developed places, during the day, people are crowded at night, it is recommended to go shopping in the morning.
