About Pont des Arts

Built shortly after the turn of the 19th century, the Pont des Arts is a bridge that stretches across the Seine that was built shortly after the turn of the 19th century. It was Paris's first metal bridge. Napoleon commissioned the work using English manufacturing designs as an inspiration. The original bridge was damaged heavily during the two World Wars and would require rebuilding in the early 1980s. The modern bridge follows closely the original plans of designer Louis Arretche.

Once locked on the art bridge beside the Louvre Museum and sunk the key into the river, many people have set up a must-do thing to Paris. This is also the scenic spot of "climbing to the clouds II".

What better way to watch the sun slowly sink down over the city of light than on a bridge covered in lovers locks? Get there in summer, bring along some picnic goodies and set yourself up for the afternoon/evening – you won’t be disappointed. Guitar playing, singing and the occasional impromptu student drama performance are sure to keep you entertained, or you can just relax with your close friends over a glass or two of vino. Flying solo? Go anyway, ask someone for a cigarette or a corkscrew and start a conversation, people will more than likely invite you to join (if you don’t act like too much of a creep.)This is a great, cheap and grassroots way to really enjoy some of la vie parisienne. A defo go go for me.NOTE: Keep an eye out for the coppers, they don’t allow drinking however if you’re discrete they’ll kind of overlook it (just hide bottles and drink from non clear plastic cups)Chin Chin!

This is the bridge in Paris where you and your lover place your love lock with something inscribed on it. My husband and I did this our last night in Paris. At midnight, we put our inscribed lock on the bridge together while watching the Eiffel tower light up. It was very sweet and romantic. I suggest everyone do it with the one they love.

On the Seine river bridge is one of the famous bridge art, famous thought full of lock, the lock symbol of good will, and more is a symbol of love. Many couples come to this, the lock on the name of two people, then lock lock on the bridge, the key thrown into the Seine, the symbol of life are not isolated, and taishan where is very similar, is very romantic. We go to bridge the lock is too much, already basically is solid, dense locks, all kinds, and tight around the bridge. After come back, see on the news thought, art bridge part appeared to collapse, December 9, 2014, the French government to send someone removed art hanging on the bridge of love the lock. Like we are really lucky, if go to a few months later cant see the lock of the bridge.

The best view of the city... It was allowed to have a picnic & some wine on the bridge before Sarko... But last time we were there we were aggressively warned by the police... It was a horrible moment. It is sad to see " the city of love" turning in to a policeland.

Weeknights this pedestrian bridge is full of Parisians having picnics with friends and watching the sun set. Absolutely lovely place to sit and relax.

Watch the boats go by from this pedestrian bridge (with trees!) in the heart of Paris.
