Photos of Lake Kussharo

Lake Kussharo is the largest crater lake in Japan. The Nakajima floating in the center of the lake is the largest freshwater island in Japan. It is a very popular resort for water sports such as camping, speedboating, and surfing. In winter, the lake will freeze, but due to the high geothermal heat, some of the ice will melt and become hot springs, so hundreds of swans will rest here every year, making tourists feast for their eyes. There are roads along the south and east banks of the lake, making it a very interesting sightseeing route. When you climb Bihoro Pass, which is about 490m above sea level, you can overlook the entire Lake Kussharo, and the scenery is spectacular.
