Ha Long Bay is on the list of many people that visit Vietnam. Months ago, I saved reels of this place and couldn’t believe I was about to experience it for myself.
From what I learned, Hạ Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It’s famous because of the emerald waters and limestone cliffs. That’s not exactly what I saw the day I went.
We hopped on a bus with our guided tour and headed 3 hours away from Hanoi. As we kept driving, we passed all these rice fields and the real Vietnam, outside the city came to life. It felt like I was looking at the typical photographs of Asia with the old woman on a bike, and wearing a traditional Vietnamese hat.
The day at Hạ Long Bay was a cloudy and misty start. I kinda felt like the day would be ruined just because of the weather. That’s when the image of what I thought Hạ Long Bay would be, disappeared.
It was overcast and the water was a bit murky. A couple hours later, the sun finally peeked through giving me that supposed perfect image.
Honestly though, that didn’t matter to me after awhile. Because, as I was sitting on the top deck of that boat, I had one of my “travel moments” where I feel intense gratitude that I fulfilled my childhood dreams of living abroad. I remember in college going to a pho place and seeing pictures of Vietnam thinking, “I’ll be there one day.” And that one day finally happened.
Getting There - Best option is a tour but you can also rent a car
Attractions - kayaking, bamboo boat ride

Beautiful experience. Went on a boat tour to see the little mountains. Stopped by and did some kayaking there too! Could order food on the boat for lunch.
Halong City is a very typical coastal small town, but also a scenic spot passed by the tourist period of Halong Bay. The architectural environment in this area is also very good. You can see a lot of unique things. The whole structure of Halong City is also very small.
The climate is a tropical monsoon type regulated by the sea. The mineral deposits are abundant in the territory, especially coal, which is the coal capital of Vietnam. The coal produced is known to be low ash, smokeless and high calorific value. It is exported to many countries in Europe and Asia. The Xialong coalfield is very shallow, mining is very convenient, and the coal mines are mostly open-pit mines. Moreover, coal stone here can also be used as carving materials. The crafts processed with coal stone are popular with tourists at home and abroad.
Nice place for family. Not far from the capital Hanoi so it is easy to travel to. Beautiful landscape with beach, natural cave,… will give you q wonderful time
Halong Bay tour by boat ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
It takes about two hours by bus from downtown Hanoi.It would have been better if the weather was good;;;
Halong Bay was nice, the meal was good on the boat, the cave view was good, and everything was good but hard
