Seek tranquility in the hidden corners~ Yuying Academy in the ancient city of Shiping
Yuying Academy faces south with its back to the north, covering an area of 3,303 square meters. It boasts a grand scale, consisting of structures such as the main gate, the second gate, the archway, the lecture hall, and the dormitories. The wooden structure is a three-entry quadrangle complex, with the grandeur of a palace.
The most noteworthy ancient architecture of the academy is the Longmen Archway. The archway is a brick-wood-stone structure with flying eaves and bucket arches, carved beams and painted rafters, very majestic. Four dragon-shaped stone pillars, with their heads held high and eyes bulging, are supported on four column bases. The carving skills are exquisite, and the shapes are lifelike.
On the main gate of the archway, there is a vertical plaque with the two characters 'Longmen'. 'Longmen', also known as Yumenkou, is located at the northwest of Hejin County in Shanxi and the northeast of Hancheng County in Shaanxi. Legend has it that once a carp in the Yellow River leaps over the Yumenkou, it can transform into a dragon. This is meant to encourage students to strive for excellence, to study diligently, and to emerge from the academy with profound knowledge, to succeed in the imperial examinations, and to become renowned far and wide.
Shiping Ancient City is not accessible by train. It takes about 50 minutes by car from Jianshui Bus Terminal to Shiping, and then walks about 15 minutes to reach the ancient city. The ancient city with a thousand-year history is antique in architecture, residential houses and streets, suitable for slow appreciation.
Shiping Ancient City is the old city block that S Honghezhou has retained better. Chinese historical and cultural district. In the history of more than 2,000 years, Shiping Ancient City has created a brilliant culture, Taishidi, Jinshidi, General Di, Observation Di, Zongren Mansion and private gardens are dazzling, and experts call Shiping Ancient City a museum of Ming and Qing residential buildings.
Shiping, who re-taught Xingwen, was the "document famous state" of the Ming and Qing generations, and had 65 scholars, 15 Hanlin, 1 economic special yuan, 1 Wu Jinshi, and 640 people. Among them, the economic special yuan is the economic science Zhuangyuan Yuan Jiagu, which is also the only one in Yunnan history. By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Shiping had 10 academies, hundreds of private schools and Yixue, and the temples that have been preserved to date have carried the expectations and aspirations of many readers.
Shiping is really a very low-key existence compared to its neighbor Jianshui. This is a well-preserved and oily ancient city; Shiping tofu is also delicious; the only pity is that there is no place to eat down the street; it is worth seeing.
I went to Shiping Ancient City on National Day in 23 years. It has a sense of history. I must have been brilliant that year. I recommend to play. There are many barbecues, especially the tofu is good. I can't eat it in other places, but the environment is poor. Yilong Lake is very large, choose cloudy weather is the best light rain to play, the scenery is more beautiful, sunny and hot, it is not recommended to go, homogenization, no entertainment projects.
Shiping Ancient City niche tourist spot, it is recommended
Very worth going. I am a native of Shiping, and later went out to work. Going home during the Spring Festival, the blue stone trail was still like 30 years ago, and the shop was almost unchanged. Every step was uniform and needed to be tasted slowly.
