Photos of Imperial Tomb of Later Zhou Dynasty

The Mausoleum of the Later Zhou Emperor is located near Guodian Town, Xinzheng City. It is the mausoleum of the Emperor and Queen of the Later Zhou Dynasty. There are four mausoleums here, namely the Mausoleum of Guo Wei Song of the Later Zhou Dynasty, the Mausoleum of Chai Rongqing of the Later Zhou Shizong, the Shun Mausoleum of Chai Zongxun of Emperor Gong of the Later Zhou Dynasty, and the Mausoleum of Fu Shiyi, the empress of Chai Rong of the Later Zhou Dynasty. The Mausoleum of the Later Zhou Dynasty is also a relatively complete group of mausoleums preserved in the Central Plains during the Five Dynasties. Song Mausoleum is located in Linghou Village, about 1 km southwest of Guodian Village. The existing tomb is about 12 meters high and 110 meters in circumference. Guo Wei pays attention to frugality. His tomb has not built a palace, and there are no stone people and beasts in front of the tomb. Before his death, he demanded: Except for the tile coffin and paper clothes, no precious objects should be buried with him, and he should only "set up a stone to mark a child". Qingling is located in Lingshang Village, 500 meters northwest of Guodian Village. The existing tomb is 10 meters high and 105 meters in circumference. There are 33 imperial memorial tablets in the cemetery, all of which praise the achievements of King Sejong. Zhou Shizong Chai Rong was a very famous emperor in history. When he was on the throne, he made great efforts to rule, practice frugality, rectify the military, and try to unify China. It is a pity that he died at the age of 39 and was called the Five Dynasties Famous Monarch by later generations. There is a monument in front of the tree of his mausoleum, which reads "Party members and cadres build an education base for clean government", learning from Chai Rong's advocacy of frugality and anti-luxury. Shun Mausoleum is located about 300 meters northeast of Lingshang Village. The existing tomb is 4 meters high and 40 meters in circumference. There are also murals in the burial chamber and the tomb passage. Shun Mausoleum was stolen in 1991, and the robbery hole with a diameter of about 1 meter can still be found. Yiling is located in a resident's courtyard in Lingshang Village, more than 100 meters away from Qingling Mausoleum, and now there is only one mound left. Compared with the imperial tombs of previous dynasties, it is very simple and small in scale, and there are no sculptures such as stone horses and stone elephants. This is related to Guo Wei and Chai Rong being sympathetic to the people and advocating frugality. The emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties highly praised this practice. In the early years of the Ming Dynasty, a cemetery was built for Qingling to promote its spirit.
