the Westin Guangzhou

Our last stop in Guangdong with the whole family, the front desk lady saw how many of us there were and proactively recommended a more suitable room type. The hotel environment is comfortable and well-designed. The pool temperature is perfect for kids, and the bathroom's steam room and hot tub are great for the elderly, washing away the fatigue from Chimelong. The executive lounge offers a rich and delicious dinner, and breakfast has a wide variety of options. The hotel's location is superb, making it easy to visit Canton Tower, go shopping, and explore the flower market, satisfying the different needs of three generations. And there's one more thing that makes me want to give extra stars: when we got to the airport, we realized my child's phone watch was missing. Its battery was low, so we couldn't pinpoint the floor. Manager Liu (Rae) and Manager Chen (Kyl), along with their staff, searched every floor, even going through trash cans, until 2 AM, and finally found it.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, just one subway stop from Guangzhou East Station, right next to Linhexi Metro Station. There's a large shopping and dining complex nearby, along with convenience stores. The front desk kindly upgraded my room for free. The room itself was standard, clean, and odor-free. Many families with children stay here. The doorman proactively helped with my luggage. The breakfast was plentiful and included local Cantonese specialties.

If I don't have a go-to hotel for leisure or business trips, I can always rely on the Westin brand. They generally maintain ISO standards. This particular hotel has a great location, right near the East Station, though the immediate surroundings are a bit bustling. It has both indoor and outdoor pools, and the breakfast is quite distinctive.

I chose this hotel because I wanted to take my child on the APM line. I had anticipated that the rooms might be a bit old, so I won't comment on the facilities or decor. Since I was traveling with a child, I specifically requested a quiet room when booking, and even opted for a higher-floor executive room for that reason. However, I was shocked at how poor the soundproofing was for a five-star hotel. Throughout the night, I could clearly hear laughter and chatter from other rooms, doors closing, people washing up, and even snoring. For someone who had a long day traveling with a child, this night was pure torture! And let's talk about hygiene: when I was getting ready for bed, I found a yellowish, sticky stain on the bedsheet, which was truly unsettling for a mom staying with her child. I've never left a review for any hotel on Trip.com before, but this night made me extremely uncomfortable.

The hotel is spacious and luxuriously decorated, though a bit old-fashioned. The room was large and well-equipped. It was mochi gifting season, and Miko, a staff member in the lobby, recommended some mochi to me, which was quite good. It's also conveniently located near Guangzhou East Railway Station.

Had a very pleasant stay. Even though it's an older hotel, it's very well-maintained. The location is also super convenient.
