During late Autumn I was fortunate to visit this museum and take in the Yoshitsugu Koyanagi exhibit. A wonderful exhibit well represented by this space. Definitely the highlight of my visit to the sur...
From the Fujita Memorial Garden, enter Hirosaki Park and go back, and the Hirosaki City Museum was built behind the Hirosaki Civic Hall. This area was once the Sannomaru of Hirosaki Castle, and a museum is built in the middle of the abundance of trees such as old pine trees 々. The building is designed by Kunio Maekawa, a disciple of Le Corbusier who designed the main building of the National Museum of Western Art, a World Heritage Site. The building with a complex red brick exterior wall made me feel solemn.
I saw valuable materials centering on the history of the Tsugaru family, a Sengoku daimyo (Japanese territorial Lord in the Sengoku period). Now Aomori City was the center of the prefecture, but at that time it was found that Hirosaki was the center.
