Nanni Temple

Nanni Temple is located in the north of Kangma County, Shigatse, 12 kilometers away from Gyangze County. The monastery was built during the Tubo Dynasty and has a history of more than 1,200 years. The monastery once believed in Nyingma and Kadam, and now believes in Gelug. During the prevalent period of Nyingmapa, the monastery had 6 Dratsangs and nearly 10,000 monks. In 1904, when the British invaded the Nanni area, a lama hero stepped forward and slashed the leader of the British army with a Tibetan knife, saving many people and monks. The main Buddha of the temple is the three masters and disciples of Sakyamuni, and there is a Thangka bathing Sakyamuni in the Great Sutra Hall. Every year on April 15th of the Tibetan calendar, the temple will hold a 3-day God-jumping event.
