Brixton Windmill

Brixton Windmill's free historic tour takes a bus from Brixton Metro Station to a quiet garden. Windmills have a history of more than 200 years and are still producing flour, which can be bought there.

Brixton Windmill is in the middle of Brixton, a landmark live music venue that is usually open to the public from March to October. The history of mills and the stories of families living and working are fascinating. An important school education program is held in factories to provide school children with learning opportunities and to make them feel connected with the traditions of factories.

This is a local institution, which was restored in 2003-13 by the community. It mills flour which you can buy at F. Mondays around the corner. When it's open in spring and summer, there is a lot for kids of all ages, including good talks on early industrialisation. And the playground nearby is fun as it has some steel climbing frames that you don't often see any longer.
