If you like open air architectural museums then this one is worth visiting. You can get there by bus (west entrance of the station) or by train (170 yen) and an easy 15 minutes walk (map to find the m...
The district courts, juvenile prison cells, silk mills, and exhibits related to Ah Nomugi Pass in the Meiji era are relocated and preserved. There were few people, probably because of the access problem of about 30 minutes by bus in a different direction from Matsumoto Castle, but there were many things to see.
You can see the historic court buildings and the "stone roof" which are characteristics of houses in the Edo period, which are only about 5 ケ in Japan.

There are countless historical buildings in Japan, but as far as I know, when it comes to existing and appreciable old court buildings, 5ケ [Sapporo, Hokkaido, Sado, Niigata, Nagoya, Aichi, I visited here because I had never seen this only in Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture and here]. Unlike other 4 ケ places, this feature is that you can see five buildings at a time because you can visit them as one facility called [Matsumoto City Historical Village]. [Kojo Inn ...] here
It is located next to the Japan Ukiyoe Museum, a 15-minute walk from Oba Station. The admission fee is 400 yen. There are 5 historic buildings and an exhibition / rest building on the premises. The former Matsumoto ward court office building built in 1908 is designated as a national important cultural property with a heavy Japanese style architecture, and 'former Matsumoto juvenile prison solo house' can enter the solo house. When I visited, I was able to see the production demonstration of Misuzu crafts at "Kojo-juku Horaiya". It would be a good facility to visit with children.
