River Temple on the Hill
This is a very lovely temple that sits atop a hill overlooking the Sendai River. It is one of those places that you have to climb a fair number of stairs to get to. While it is very much worth it, the...

I headed to Nitta Shrine to visit one of the three Kamidai Mausoleums, and stopped at the parking lot next to the Nino Torii next to FamilyMart and walked up. The name of Nitta is said to be derived from Niniginomikoto drawing water from the Kawauchi River to create a new paddy field. Nitta Shrine in Miyauchi-cho, Satsumasenouchi City, Kagoshima Prefecture is Miyauchi (read Miyauchicho) as the town name suggests, but there is a story that His Majesty the Emperor visited the shrine in the early Showa period. I hear it is also a place managed by the Imperial Household Agency. And wonderful!
There are many stairs, so elderly people should be careful. You can drive halfway, and if there is a free parking lot, it is recommended to drive halfway.
