Shōin Shrine

Matsuyin Shrine is dedicated to Yoshida Matsuyin, one of the early Japanese reformers in the mid-nineteenth century. The Songyin Shrine was built to commemorate the famous politician and thinker Yoshida Songyin at the end of the Edo Shogunate. Its main force, Wang Xuyi, resisted foreign aggression, became the precursor of Meiji Restoration. At the same time, its militaristic ideology also had a profound impact on Japan in the future.
