I booked a king-sized room, and both the space and the bed were quite large. Honestly, a standard-sized room probably would have been enough. The hotel has been recently renovated, so it still looks pretty new.
The location is listed as Chinatown, but the nearest tram stops are about a 6-minute walk away. Thankfully, Melbourne's city center is quite compact.
The room temperature can be adjusted freely. I'm not sure if there were disposable slippers – I've forgotten. We had two people staying, but they only provided one set of toothbrushes and amenities daily, so I was glad I'd brought my own. There's a small fridge with a complimentary carton of milk inside, but it didn't come with a straw.
Things that brought down the score:
One night, around 9 PM, the fire alarm went off. Everyone rushed downstairs, only to be told it was a false alarm. As we were halfway back up, it started ringing again, another false alarm.
And then there's the noise. The king rooms face the street, and the noise mainly came from modified cars driven by 'ghost riders' all night, and then various emergency vehicles starting from 6 or 7 AM. If you've ever been to Thailand, the constant roar of motorcycles on the street is exactly what it was like. I even took two videos so you could get a feel for it, and those weren't even the loudest moments, just the mildest sounds. It felt like I was sleeping on the street. I don't think the hotel needs renovation; what it really needs is soundproof windows, otherwise, it's not suitable for a comfortable stay.

The location is superb, as expected from YHA. The building is old, and the room layout and facilities are a bit inconvenient. There isn't a single hook in the entire room, making it feel like there's nowhere to put anything. The simple Western-style breakfast was okay, but some of the dried fruits might have been close to their expiration date.
I arrived at late check-in time on 2/11 Sunday and Mildua Inlander's staff was after office hour so I contacted to staff for room check-in by phone call, Staff are so helpful to help me to collect the room key and required admin work. However, due to the resort's layout and my room location(my room is ROOM 90), the circulation of the hotel is not poor, poor room ordering(it is not by 101 for on 1/F like typical hotel, it is using 1-50 for G/F, 51-100 for level 1; if 101-110 for block 1, 121-129 for block 2, 131-139 for block 3, 141-150 for block 4 would be better), no coherent corridor at the end, not much signage and map/easy to miss, no Lift or easy ramp for level 1. so, it is hard to find my room and poor experience before entry the room.
Room is good for me. One thing is: can consider to have openable window after the mosquito net on the balcony sliding door if I don't want to turn on the air-conditioner.
Exceeded my expectations! Although the location isn't the most convenient and it's a bit far from the city, the environment is absolutely wonderful, and I really loved the room. Breakfast was also quite good. All in all, this place is truly excellent.
We stayed there one night as we have booked the hot air balloon flight. Thus, didnt have much opportunity to use any facility except the restaurant. We had dinner there and food and wine were great. However, we noticed that some staff werent paying much attention to asian guests. While serving the food up to western guest, the staff was introducing the food in details but not to us. Furthermore, it took a long while to get our desserts.

I booked two hotels on the Southbank of the Yarra River this time. First, let's talk about Crown Towers, which is located on the western side. My first impression was its luxury. It's connected to a casino and surrounded by high-end luxury stores, with a grand lobby. My second impression was how friendly it is to Chinese guests; all the elevator buttons have both Chinese and English annotations, and there were many festive elements for Chinese New Year. The room faced the Yarra River, offering a nice view, and there were various restaurants downstairs, making dining convenient.
Walking west from the hotel, away from the bustling Flinders Street Station, I experienced the quiet and less crowded Yarra River after an evening rain. It was then that I truly understood why Melbourne has been repeatedly voted the world's most livable city. It was a refreshing and comfortable feeling that made me exclaim, 'Life can truly be this wonderful!'
If you have ample time, I highly recommend staying a night by the Yarra River. I suggest booking a hotel on the western side; though the location might be slightly more secluded, it offers a convenient way to experience the Yarra River away from the city's hustle and bustle.
Like Sydney's Crown Towers, Melbourne's Crown Towers is also lively and a bit flamboyant. This doesn't quite align with the quiet and understated elegance typically associated with luxury hotels, but perhaps that's why its high price offers good value for money. The pool was crowded in the evening but wonderfully empty in the morning for a great swim.
Additionally, it's very close to DFO South Wharf (Melbourne's largest outlet mall). We didn't know this at the time and ended up taking a taxi from our subsequent hotel near the University of Melbourne. If we had known, it would have been much more convenient to just stroll over from here.

Loved the old world charm of the Windsor without scarifying the comfort of improvements. Had a wonderful High Tea on the Saturday afternoon and a table service breakfast. The location is great too. Highly recommend it.

Warm welcome by receptionist. Awesome service. Quality and service at par excellence. Very much near to train stations.
The Best Western was perfectly fine for my one-night business trip to Melbourne—clean enough and very well-located. My only real complaint is that basic amenities were missing; there was no toothpaste or bottled water in the room. It didn't ruin my stay, but adding these simple comforts would go a long way for short-stay guests.
Located on a small hill in Apollo Bay, the view is excellent and the place is quiet. There are even little kangaroos visiting. The breakfast is simple and nutritious, and the rooms are warm, but there are no slippers or toothbrushes provided, so you need to bring your own. It would be better if you could let us know in advance.

GGuest UserI spent a long time choosing this hotel on the platform before my trip to Melbourne. The listing mentioned it was a new opening in December 2025, and the location looked fantastic – right next to Queen Victoria Market with tram stops just downstairs, making it super easy to get to all the attractions.
I was in Room 506. However, after checking in, I noticed two lights in the room weren't working, as shown in the picture. Since there's no main ceiling light, my friend and I had to rely on just one corridor light, three small desk lamps, and natural light from the window to get around the room. This made putting on makeup really inconvenient. The bathroom lighting was also quite warm-toned, and it felt a bit cramped with both of us trying to get ready in there.
The bedding was clean, which was good. But, we found leftover paper scraps from the previous guest in the rubbish bin, and there was even some product packaging left in the storage cabinet near the entrance.
The hotel appears to be a renovation, as the air conditioning control panel was yellowed and looked quite old.
It's worth noting this isn't a traditional hotel; it's a serviced apartment. I've previously stayed at serviced apartments from brands like Stey and Habyt on short-term rentals, and based on this experience, I feel lyf still has a lot of room for improvement.

AAnonymous UserThe location is absolutely unbeatable, right in the heart of Melbourne's city center. Stepping out, you're immediately at St. Paul's Cathedral and Federation Square, with major shopping areas and attractions all within walking distance, making getting around and shopping incredibly convenient. The hotel itself boasts a style of understated luxury. The rooms are spacious, with a high-quality decor, and the bathroom amenities are top-notch, ensuring a very comfortable stay.
The service throughout was attentive and thoughtful, with professional and detailed concierge and turndown services that were promptly delivered. The breakfast spread was extensive, offering a full range of both Chinese and Western options with fresh ingredients. The only minor downsides were that the building has some age, with a few facilities showing their years, and during peak breakfast hours, it can get crowded with a slightly slower refill rate for dishes. Overall, it remains a prime choice among Melbourne's high-end hotels, perfect for both business trips and leisure stays.
DDDDoDDDThe bed size in the room didn't match what was advertised. The website stated a 'deluxe king-size bed,' which should typically be 1.8m. However, as shown in the picture, it was actually a queen-size bed, approximately 1.5m. My large suitcase is 80cm, and at 1.77m tall, I was significantly taller than the bed's width. A manager named Nicolas told me that this is considered an Australian standard king-size. However, I study in Sydney and have a king-size bed at home, and all king-size beds sold in Australian furniture stores are 1.8m. I'm not sure which 'Australia' he was referring to. As an airport hotel, the soundproofing of the windows wasn't particularly good; I could still hear cars from downstairs. Despite this being a hotel issue, Trip.com was very patient and responsible in their coordination and communication. The front desk staff, Tarek, had an excellent service attitude and paid great attention to detail.
GGuest UserThis is a very nice resort. The interior is very clean and large. Bed is comfortable and toilet is good with jacuzzi. You will see kangaroos and cockatoos outside the cottage in the morning and evening. My kids enjoy the stay very much. However you need to either cook your own meals or drive out to eat. The drive is about 15 mins.

GGuest UserWe booked a King Standard hotel for this trip as we have the special rate from Trip.com. Before we arrived we received an email from Trip urging us to write an email to ask for early check in as we also booked an airline ticket thru Trip. When arrived in hotel ard 9.45 am we were offered a room ( with immediate availability ) but with a payment of AUD 50. When I asked for a twin bed room as usually King and Twin Bed will have same rate, but not this hotel. If we were to change the bed style we have to pay AUD 30/night for 5 nights 😅😅another AUD 150. Enough for all the morning communications so we just ignore the bed details and went straight to our room after the payment. On the day we checked out we came to know that the front officer recharged our hotel fee even when Trip.com confirmed that everything was fully paid.
What a money maker hotel!! Front officer told us they will refund us the amount though.
However the room is small and nice and everything was up to international 4 standard but Crown Casino Tower has a much more beautiful and bigger room. Though both have stunning nice view of the Yarra River as in attached.

GGuest UserThis is an older five-star hotel with decent service. Its location is similar to Tsim Sha Tsui East in Hong Kong – quiet, with many famous shops, bars, and Western restaurants nearby. However, you'll notice a lot of tourists around when you step outside.
The breakfast is pretty good and acceptable, offering standard fare like bread, eggs, coffee, cheese, ham, and fruit – all the daily essentials.
The main drawback is that the hotel is too close to the two adjacent buildings. There are very few rooms with a view; most rooms get little to no sunlight throughout the day and require the curtains to be drawn almost constantly.
The bathroom is particularly bad. The shower screen only covers half the area, so water inevitably splashes all over the floor, making it a mess. This means you often have to use bath towels to dry the floor, leading to constantly wet carpets and very dirty towels in the long run.

GGuest UserMy stay here was excellent! The front desk staff were very responsive, and my room was spotless with no odd smells. The bedding was super comfortable. I was really impressed with the soundproofing – it was so quiet! The shower had great water pressure too. Breakfast offered a wide variety of options, and the service staff were all very friendly. The only minor downside was that the gym had limited equipment. Overall, it's great value for money and I'd highly recommend it for business travelers.

TTaninaz1. The remark of parking charge is unclear in trip.com. A little bit disappointed when the reception said that we have to pay.
2. The tab water has a chlorine smell somehow. Not that good to drink directly.
3. Good location, nice room, very clean, good service on site.
