Stayed here with daughter for the start of the Cumbria Way walk. Arrived by train and it's literally right outside the train station entrance.top marks for location Twin room. Large bathroom with bath. Some may say room is dated. For price excellent . Weatherspoons for food around the corner - less than a 10 mi s walk Friendly staff filled our water bottles before we set off for our walk. All in all met all our requirements. Also for information it's dog friendly too. For £50 for night (deal if booked train ticket through trip.com got discount on Hotels.

The view was great, the service was also good,they gave us a lake view room when we asked for it in spot and they also upgraded our room

Great place to stay the room has a lot of architectural character. Breakfast was lush and tasty 😋. I would definitely recommend staying there .

Traditional city centre hotel, great location, excellent value (low season?). The young lady on reception duty, spotted my request for a quiet room , well done - stayed at a 4 star in Liverpool the night before and they didn't! Young chap also on reception gave me a bit of the history of the place - thank you . Room was fine, old building so high ceiling, nothing flash but it had some character. The lounge is beautiful with original features.

Fantastic location, very clean, tidy and well maintained a lot of money has been spent and you can tell. The staff were very friendly welcoming and helpful it was very peaceful and quiet the water was super hot so didn’t have to wait for hot water I would definitely return left feeling valued thank you for a great night sleep

Check in wouldn’t let us check in 15 mins early so we went to pool and jacuzzi, around the pool was green with all the water lockers were rusty ceilings not good either I wouldn’t rush back there. But our room was spot on couldn’t fault it at all

Really nice and clean, spacious enough room for a couple, comes with kettle and tea sachets, handwash & shower gel. No toothpaste so bring your own

The service staff is very kind, there is a rich and delicious breakfast to make an appointment, but unfortunately the location is a bit far for the hikers, and the Wi-Fi in the room is not smooth, I hope to improve, the others are very good, especially the room is clean and tidy, very comfortable!

The hotel experience was quite poor. We checked in at around 4 o'clock that day. Even the front desk receptionist couldn't find the room we were given. After checking in, we found that the two double beds we booked were actually one double bed and two simple single beds. We went to the front desk to negotiate and were told that the rooms were full and there was a solution at the second level. At 10 o'clock in the evening, when we were ready to go to bed, we found that one of the simple beds had collapsed. When we turned over the sheets, we found that three wooden bars were missing. We went to the front desk to negotiate again. The night manager said that he was only the restaurant manager and could only add a mattress first and solve it the next day. As a result, the simple bed was only replaced with a wire bed the next day, which was not as good as the mattress the night before. The next night, we went to the bar on the first floor to consume with the 5-pound voucher for not cleaning the room. After ordering, we found that the bill price was different from the price we had just arrived. After checking, it was indeed a problem with the bar's price system, but when the bartender came back with the menu, he threw the menu next to us, and his expression when delivering the meal was also quite unhappy. Hypocritical British apology. This hotel is not worth the price at all.
