Hotel near Kota Kinabalu City Center,Kota Kinabalu
The Howard Johnson by Wyndham Kota Kinabalu City Centre is a great choice for guests looking for accommodation in Kota Kinabalu, having been recently renovated in 2025. Boasting a convenient location, the hotel is just 8km from Kota Kinabalu International Airport and 9km from (JKNS) Tanjung Aru Railway Station. Seeing Kota Kinabalu's sights from this hotel is easy with KK Waterfront, Filipino Market and Sacred Heart Cathedral Kota Kinabalu all close by. After a long day of sightseeing, guests can retire to the comfort of the hotel. Guests of this Kota Kinabalu hotel can make use of the parking facilities. This hotel is a popular accommodation for guests traveling with families.

"This hotel offers excellent value for money. Its central location in Kota Kinabalu is incredibly convenient for getting around and finding food, with many popular local eateries within walking distance. As an economy brand under Wyndham, the hotel is generally clean and tidy. While the rooms are designed with simplicity in mind, they offer ample space and good natural light, and all essential amenities are provided. The staff are quite enthusiastic, and check-in and check-out processes are quick. There's an international restaurant on-site. While the breakfast selection isn't particularly luxurious, it's perfectly adequate for a simple daily meal. If you're visiting Kota Kinabalu for leisure or business and looking for an affordable, well-located, and brand-backed place to stay, this is a very practical and comfortable choice."

Hotel near Tanjung Aru,Kota Kinabalu
The Casuarina Hotel is an ideal spot for travelers wanting to discover the city. Visitors to Kota Kinabalu will find that the Casuarina Hotel is a fantastic accommodation choice. Boasting a convenient location, the hotel is just 6km from Kota Kinabalu International Airport and 7km from (JKNS) Tanjung Aru Railway Station. With multiple attractions nearby including Stella Maris Catholic Church, Tanjung Aru Beach Night Market and Al Kauthar Mosque, guests will find plenty to keep themselves occupied. When guests have some time on their hands they can make use of the onsite facilities. This Kota Kinabalu hotel provides parking on site. This hotel is particularly popular with those traveling alone.

"It's a little out of town but I chose it for the close proximity to the beach and swimming ,which is about a 10min walk from the hotel. There are street food and drinks stalls available from about 3pm . Tanjung Aru beach is beautiful, uncrowded and the beach shelves away gently making it a safe swimming area. However, the beach had rubbish washed up and maintenance isn't a priority I guess. I swam everyday and didn't get sick ,that's a bonus. The room ( the whole place)was tired looking, it could do with a lick of paint and maintenance. Room was clean when I got there but I strongly doubt it was cleaned in the entire time I was there for five days. Often had to ask for toilet paper , shampoo and shower gel , and coffee sachets etc ,basics to be stocked whenever housekeeping does their cleaning. Air con worked for me although the settings couldn't be altered ! The bed springs creak and you feel the springs when you sit on the bed but I slept ok only because I was usually exhausted from the day's activities . The beds and mattresses definitely need renewing though. The fridge was mouldy and smelly , what a blooming shame : / The safe was broken - hallelujah! I kept my room door locked at all times only because Reception staff hardly looked up to see who comes and goes- they sit very low, almost out of view at their front desk. I wasn't convinced about their perception of safety especially as I'm a solo female traveller and I need to be alert and take great caution. Casuarina Hotel are you taking note? Reception is helpful but that depends who is present. Lifts work fine without too much of a wait. The cafe on ground level serves an American breakfast but I couldn't tell you whether that's worth your while. It looked like Mary Celeste everytime I peeped in there so wasn't convinced about getting fed or a service. Therefore, I had fruit and snacks as standby .. There's a lovely restaurant a few yards from the hotel called the Yolo Seafood Restaurant which tends to open from 11.30am- delicious and inexpensive with friendly staff. Grab taxi fare to city centre varies from MYR 7- 25 Ringgit ,the higher tariff if returning during commuter rush hours from city centre which is a 15- 25 min ride . Would I stay here again ? I would actually knowing all its idiosyncrasis compared to so many awful or simplly mediocre accommodation charging an arm and a leg , I think Casuarina is just ok . Value for money? I don't think so ."

DDainiqubianquanshijieLet me talk about some aspects beyond the rooms. Even after checking out, if your flight is in the evening, the hotel still provides an exclusive area for showering, getting water, charging devices, and resting. The facilities are comprehensive and clean. The family-friendly amenities are incredibly well-equipped, featuring three large water slides, a kids' slide, and water spray equipment. There's also children's bowling, bubble shows, character interactions, and much more, with different activities every day. They also offer some paid activities for children. The adult and children's pools are well-separated. I had hoped to see the bonfire show, but it was unfortunately canceled due to the weather. For sunset views, you can simply watch from the hotel. The hotel has various restaurants, where you can enjoy a buffet or à la carte dinner. I do hope they can manage the insects in the restaurants, as there were flies during breakfast.

KKT5009Don't book during the rainy season, don't book during the rainy season, don't book during the rainy season. It's from Sep to Feb. I said 3 times it's important if you don't wanna ruin your holiday. We booked 3D2N in mid Sep. Our holiday turned out to be a staycation nightmare in the resort. We can't do all the water activities neither the jungle trekking. The water heater in our room is not working, we have to shower with shivering cold water in this kind of weather. Lots of big size anta inside the room crawling from the bathroom to the bedroom. Make sure you cleaned up for your snacks and drinks, tie up the garbage bag if you don't want these insects to come to your bed, There is also a landslide happening on our first night, luckily we are not affected as we stayed in the ocean villa. There is only one restaurant in this resort, food prices are the same as SG restaurant pricing, no cheap option here. In room dining needs to pay RM25 extra. Staff service is good but this cannot cover the several run down part of the resort.

AAnonymous UserThe hygiene was good, I didn't find any obvious issues. It's really convenient for getting around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a shame the facilities are a bit old. If you're not too picky, it's a good option to consider. The view from outside is quite nice.

GGuest UserService: The staff in every department were very helpful. When we mentioned it was our honeymoon, they even helped decorate the room. Room & Facilities: Our outdoor area directly faced the garden and the sea, offering a fantastic view. However, the indoor space was quite cramped, and the facilities were indeed outdated. There were also a lot of mosquitoes. The pool was nice, though. Food: The breakfast and dinner buffets were very crowded on weekends, and if you went later, some dishes were already gone. The weekday breakfast and dinner experience was much better, and the food actually tasted quite good.

RRainbowhuanyoushijiezhongThe hotel's location is excellent. It's a 15-minute taxi ride from the airport and conveniently close to everything. Imago Shopping Mall is just a 10-minute walk away, and the new Jesselton Point ferry terminal is only 15 minutes on foot, making island hopping incredibly easy without any hassle. The only minor disappointment was that we didn't get an upgraded room, and the view wasn't particularly great. However, it was wonderfully quiet, with no motorbike noise whatsoever. I'd read some reviews saying the hotel was old, but I completely disagree – it felt very clean and new, with no strange odors. And let me tell you, the Hyatt's breakfast is amazing! There's a wide variety of options, and everything tastes delicious.

GGuest UserThe environment here is absolutely beautiful! It's a beachfront room with a stunning ocean view, and the room itself is spacious and bright. The staff are all very polite and enthusiastic. There are lots of little wild animals around, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves was lovely. However, there were quite a few small bugs, so definitely bring insect repellent. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

GGuest UserThe Magellan Sutera Resort is a great hotel. My family had a wonderful experience here. The location is close to the port, you can enjoy your ocean activities and also can easily find restaurants and shopping mall nearby. That was important for the family tour. The best experience I want to mention is hotel service. The front desk representative Juliet is a nice and warm lady. She did great help to me and made my trip here pleasant and enjoyable. Thank you so much to Juliet.Wish to see you next time.

GGuest UserEverything was perfect. Every staff member at the resort was incredibly welcoming and helpful, even the maintenance workers I passed on the paths greeted me warmly. The food in the restaurant was delicious, and breakfast was absolutely perfect – I couldn't find a single fault. The resort doesn't cut back on service or close facilities just because there are fewer guests, which is great. It was a perfect getaway, and I will definitely be returning.

AAnonymous UserThis is my fourth time staying at this hotel. The location is great, and it has a private beach, though it's not very big. The pool is quite large, but shallow, and this time it wasn't very clean. I mainly stay here for the convenience of island hopping from Jesselton Point. Finally, the hotel is a bit old, and the facilities aren't very new; the safe in my room (room 1057) was broken when I arrived. The bed is a bit too soft for my liking. Breakfast was very crowded (it was a holiday) and the taste was just average with not much variety. Other than that, everything else was okay.
