The hotel has been recently renovated, so all the facilities are brand new. It's conveniently located right across from the tram stop, making it super easy to get around. They assigned me a high-floor room with a sea view, which was lovely – very comfortable, clean, and quiet. I even got to enjoy the sunrise from my room! Plus, they offered luggage storage after check-out, which was a thoughtful touch.

Loved the place … however the vending machine took my $5 didn’t gave me my water 😭.. front staff was generous and gave me a bottle of water… the vending machine is placed infront of the lift

I recently stayed at Hides Hotel during a trip to Cairns and was pleasantly surprised by the value and charm this heritage-style hotel offers. The location is absolutely unbeatable—right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of the Esplanade, night markets, Reef Fleet Terminal, and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Whether you’re heading out for a reef tour or just exploring the local area, Hides is a super convenient base. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. It had everything I needed, including air-conditioning (a must in Cairns!), a small fridge, and free Wi-Fi. The building itself has an old-school character that’s a bit different from your typical chain hotels, which I actually really liked—it feels like you’re staying somewhere with history. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, happy to give recommendations and assist with bookings. There’s also a lovely wide veranda on the upper level, which is a great spot to relax in the evening and take in the atmosphere of the city. Only downside was that the hotel is a bit dated in places, and depending on the room you’re in, you might hear a bit of street noise—but that’s to be expected in a central location like this. Overall, Hides Hotel is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers who want clean, central, no-fuss accommodation with character. I’d definitely consider staying again.

Even though the room was nearby the stairs I did not hear noise from people passing by and had a good sleep • shared bathroom was cleaned meticulously. • amenities: they have a pool which is really nice and the inner courtyard is quite comfortable and has space to interact with other guests as well to just chill • location: 15 min taxi from the airport (only way to go to the airport) 10 min walk from the train station and 15 min walk to the seaside. There are few restaurants and a supermarket in front of the hostel • staff: kind an supportive my background: I travel 320 days a year since 8 years staying in all range of accomodation from hostel to 5star. Location very convenient, room very clean and large. Most of all the service from Tania was not only extremely friendly , but very efficient as well . We forgot our computer behind and she helped us to ship it to our next destination. We highly recommend the place

Nice resort, ideal for families or those who want a quieter spot away from the centre. Easy to get to centre by bus or uber. Lots of tour operators will pick up from resort for their activities. Clean rooms with daily housekeeping. Fridge and kettle in room. Bar and simple food available all week. Pizza restaurant Friday til Sunday. 3 nice pools. Very chilled out atmosphere. Would recommend

Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were provided. No toothbrushes. As there's no daily housekeeping, you can request fresh towels and tissues from the front desk. They provided beach towels, bath towels, face towels, small towels, and a bath mat. The location is good; it's about a 5-minute drive or a 30-minute walk to the downtown area. The pool is open from 7 AM to 10 PM. There's a free water cooler. The front desk had a Japanese staff member who was very kind! A shuttle bus from the airport costs $25 one-way, while Uber is around $100, so I recommend booking the shuttle bus online in advance. Buying a round-trip ticket saves you about $5. The price was reasonable, it was clean, and the location was great, making it convenient in many ways. Overall, 100 points!

The reception was closed because it was Sunday, but there was no problem checking in. The room was clean and nice. The staff kindly responded when I checked out I was sorry that I couldn't use the pool because I didn't have time.

This hotel is centrally located on the esplanade, and this is its main plus. In everything else, in my view, it loses out to the Hilton , to which I moved after a few days. My room smelled to the extent it made me feel unwell. The two swimming pools they boast are a joke. In the first glass pool, you are fully exhibited to everyone on the esplanade, which is why no one swims. In the second one you can't swim if there's anyone else in the pool, it's that narrow. The spa is a private massage joint. I was given a parking spot with no remote the first day, and allowed to park as an exception - their parking is too small to accomidate a hotel of this size. It has no ev charging. The breakfast is nowhere as good as the Hiltons. In any case I fixed all these problems by moving.
