Join the FREE Poetry Film-making Workshop [Editing Afternoon 1] at Camley Street Natural Park in London on November 19, 2023. Led by professional filmmaker Mmoloki Chrystie, this workshop is part of the Nature Nurtures project, organized by London Wildlife Trust and Spread the Word. The workshop aims to create four short films based on submissions from the Nature Nurtures Anthology, and participants aged 16-25 are invited to be part of the production team. Participants will explore the process of producing a film-poem, combining written and spoken word with imagery. The workshop will cover technical advice on using cameras and recording sound, as well as insights into the creative processes involved in filmmaking. The day will begin with an opportunity to connect with nature through a wildlife wander in Camley Street Natural Park, observing and appreciating its unique patterns and textures. A free pizza party lunch break will offer a chance to relax and recharge. In the afternoon, participants will dive into the editing process, learning the fundamentals of editing software and working towards finished film projects that include audio and graphic elements. Nature Nurtures is a cross-sector project supported by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports via the Volunteering Futures Fund distributed by Arts Council England. It aims to create a friendly community for young people to explore nature conservation, social action, and the creative arts. By becoming a regular member of the community, participants can expect tailored workshops, access to youth leadership training and volunteer management training, and the opportunity to have their creative work professionally published.
