China Train Booking Tips for Foreigners with Passport

China Train Booking Tips

China train booking can be a straightforward process if you know the right steps to take. Here are some tips to help you book train tickets in China:

  • 1. Plan Ahead: China Train tickets can be purchased up to 15 days in advance. During peak travel times, such as Chinese New Year, National Day (October 1st), tickets can sell out quickly. It's best to plan your trip and book your tickets as early as possible.
  • 2. Plan Your Travel with Trip.com: You can book train tickets through Trip.com, which offer English interfaces and accept international credit cards, but they may charge a small service fee.
  • 3. Know Your Train Types and Classes: China has different types of trains, including high-speed trains (G and D category), express trains (Z category), and regular trains (T, K, and other categories). High-speed trains are faster and more comfortable but also more expensive.
  • 4. Understand the Seat Classes: High speed train generally offers 3 types of seat classes: second class, first class, and business class. Regular China trains offers hard seat, hard sleeper, and soft sleeper. Choose the type and class that best fits your budget and comfort preferences.

China Train Booking: Understand the Seat Classes
  • 5. Have Your Passport Ready: When booking a train ticket, you'll need to provide your passport number and other personal information. You'll also need your passport when picking up your ticket and boarding the train.
  • 6. Choose Your Seat: If you're booking a high-speed train, you'll often have the option to select a seat. Window seats offer better views, while aisle seats allow for easier movement. If you're traveling with others, try to book seats together.
  • 7. Ticket Pickup and E-Tickets: After booking online, you can pick up your physical ticket at any railway station in China or use an automatic ticket machine if you have a Chinese ID card. Some routes and booking platforms also offer e-ticket options, where you can use your passport directly to board the train without needing a physical ticket.
China Train Booking: Arrive Early to Board
  • 8. Arrive Early: Train stations in China can be large and crowded. Arrive at least an hour before your departure time to navigate the station, go through security checks, and find your waiting area and platform.
  • 9. Baggage Allowance: Be aware of the baggage allowance on Chinese trains. Each passenger is typically allowed to carry up to 20 kg (44 lbs) of luggage, with the total dimension of each item not exceeding 160 cm.
  • 10. Food and Drinks: Most high-speed trains have a dining car and offer cart service with snacks and drinks. You can also bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages on board.
  • 11. Cancellation and Changes: If your plans change, you can cancel or modify your ticket before departure. The rules and fees for changes and cancellations vary, so check the terms and conditions when you book.
  • 12. Keep Your Ticket: Keep your ticket with you throughout the journey, as you may need it to exit the station at your destination.
  • 13. Download a Translation App: If you don't speak Mandarin, a translation app can be invaluable for communication in train stations or with staff.
  • 14. Respect Local Etiquette: Be mindful of local customs and etiquette on trains, such as not speaking loudly on your phone and keeping your area clean.

The park is excellent, despite the huge crowds, everything is very well organized: free water is available, air conditioning is available in crowded areas, and restrooms are available. The queue for the rides can sometimes even become a fun adventure.

It's a great place to visit with kids. We arrived at 11:00 a.m. and there was no line at the entrance. We really enjoyed the Desiptikon slide. By evening, the line was only 35 minutes long. We managed to explore all the zones. It's a fantastic park; we'll definitely come back if we get the chance.

I booked my Universal Beijing tickets through Trip.com, and the process was smooth and convenient. The confirmation was sent quickly, and the e-ticket worked perfectly at the entrance. However, the park was extremely crowded on the day I visited, and the waiting times for most rides were very long. Unfortunately, I couldn’t experience all the attractions. If you’re planning to visit, I highly recommend purchasing an Express Pass to save time and make the most of your day.

🎢 I visited Universal Studios China and was absolutely delighted! Incredible decorations, vibrant shows, and attractions for every taste. I especially loved the evening lighting—everything looks magical. Even the rain didn't dampen the mood, with so many bright lights and special effects. The park is huge, I definitely recommend it.🌟

This is top-notch; not visiting Disneyland in China would be a crime. The baby cried, but we were so happy.

A must-see, I don't know if we were lucky or not, but we didn't encounter any long lines, everything else was great.

I took the hotel shuttle and left at 7 am, arriving at 7:30 am, but the ticket check line was ridiculously long. So I had to walk quite a distance, wait for about 15 minutes, and then enter. You must bring your passport when entering. The food inside Disneyland was expensive and not very good, so it is better to eat outside and re-enter. The rides were generally good!!! They were really well-made!!!!! Also, I went to a burger place and just bought something without looking at the Chinese text, and the green "monster burger" turned out to be mushrooms, not meat… The red one was mala flavor.

A fantastic place to visit, both adults and children are delighted. IT'S A PITY THAT THE DISNEYLAND APP IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD FOR TOURISTS FROM RUSSIA.
review picture

The park itself is beautiful, large, with many locations and sculptures. The parade and music are excellent. However, it's extremely crowded, with lines for the rides lasting 1.5-2 hours. Alternatively, you can get fast-track passes. We went on a weekday, Wednesday. The evening show was a bit disappointing; we were expecting more. My child was disappointed that he didn't get to ride the rides for long. We ticked off the box that we'd been to Disneyland; next time, we'll only use fast-track passes when the lines are that long.

It's very exciting, beautiful, and atmospheric. You can see the main skyscrapers and the entire Bud Embankment, with its unusual architecture. The only downside is the lack of food, hot tea, and coffee.

Of course, it looks impressive. That glass floor on one of the levels is mesmerizing. But overall, it's not worth the money. On the way back down, we were led through a bunch of stalls and strange attractions before being taken down in the elevator. Overall, it's just a beautiful view from the tower, nothing more.
