As a resort hotel in Bali, the Kempinski is truly excellent. Their facilities are new, and the service is incredibly attentive. Every staff member wears a smile, and you can really feel their genuine kindness. Plus, communication in English was absolutely no problem.
This time, we booked a one-bedroom king-size villa with its own small private pool and a hanging swing chair. The first floor has a living room, an attached bathroom, and an outdoor shower area. The second floor houses the bedroom, also with an attached bathroom. The room felt very cozy and incredibly thoughtful; there was plenty of bottled water, and the minibar and snacks were always well-stocked and replenished daily.
The villa room types have a separate check-in lounge specifically for villas, which also serves breakfast and afternoon tea. You can pop in anytime for coffee or tea. The staff there are exceptionally friendly; they remember your name and are always ready to assist. A special shout-out to Vivik, who led us through the check-in process and introduced us to our room type.
The hotel lobby is grand and impressive, showcasing unique traditional Indonesian cultural charm. Perched atop a cliff, it constantly enjoys a refreshing sea breeze. Whether you're gazing at the sea or simply relaxing, it's incredibly soothing. The gym and spa are located on the 15th floor. The spa is very comfortable but requires advance booking as it's quite popular. The gym offers an excellent vantage point overlooking the entire beach, making a run feel wonderfully invigorating.
The hotel's main pool is situated below the cliff, directly in front of the ocean, with a faint hint of saltiness in the air. The pool is expansive, offering a full view of the entire hotel when looking back, and the beach and ocean stretching out ahead – perfectly embodying the tropical resort vibe. However, I do believe there's room for improvement. There are steps leading into the pool, and the edges of these steps are quite sharp. Due to water refraction, they're difficult to see clearly unless you're looking closely. I bumped my knee while swimming and got a small scrape. The hotel might consider adding some soft foam guards or similar protection to prevent similar incidents. While it might not be an issue for adults, it could be quite bad if children playing in the pool were to accidentally hit themselves.
Overall, the Kempinski Bali remains an outstanding resort hotel that significantly enhanced our holiday experience in Bali. My sincere thanks again to all the warm and enthusiastic staff for their help and service.FromSAR 1,130

A fantastic hotel on the eastern part of the island.
It is more suitable for a quiet family vacation and for those who prefer beach relaxation over surfing and parties. It is located quite far from the center of the island's main activity. The hotel has excellent infrastructure. The room was large, spacious, clean, and had everything needed. The breakfasts were excellent and very varied. The hotel staff is wonderful and very friendly. I would especially like to highlight the bartender Dede, who was very courteous and helped me repeatedly in planning my activities in Bali. The facilities were excellent, with 4 pools that the kids absolutely loved, a gym, a kids' club, and even a 4 PM chocolate hour – catering to all needs for both adults and children in the family. The service attitude was also fantastic; we were greeted with smiles everywhere we went. Prices were reasonable too; a dinner for two adults and one child was around 420, similar to what you'd pay outside. Best of all, no bugs! We booked a king room with lagoon access and was upgraded to a suite (Thank you Andaz, was a lovely surprise). We had a beautiful, clean and spacious room with a massive patio that backed onto a lagoon connected to the main pool with a sea view. It felt like paradise. There were toads croaking after the rain. We saw cockatoos and many other kinds of bird. Bird sang every morning. We even a monitor lizard swimming in the spa’s lily pond. This place is bathed in nature. Service was friendly and warm from top notch staff. The turndown service every evening was a special touch, and the grounds were immaculately kept! There were almost always staff working away to keep the grounds pristine and lush. We really like the hotel’s layout where it seems (to us) that all rooms provide a good level of privacy and some kind of a view, be it lush beautiful gardens, pool or the beach. Nice views from the rooms when it wasn't hazy from the humidity outside. The surrounding grounds of the gold course were also nice and lush. It was a quiet place to stay. Large rooms. Large bathroom. Didnt like that the design of the bathroom door though which slid across to open and that was then cupboard door. When the bathroom door was closed there is a light that come on automatically in the cupboard. So as the door did not close all the way the light stayed on all night so it was never quite dark enough in the room at night. Also I didnt like having the bathroom door open at night. If you went to the toilet and closed the door the cupboard light lit up the room. The facilities were pretty old and there was a stale smell in the dining room/restaurant when you enter. It was so cold in the room, there were droplets of water dropping down onto the tables from the a/c vents. The pool lounges had mould on them so you had to make sure you were sitting on your towel. Mandapa is pure magic. From the moment you arrive, the views of the rice fields and the river take your breath away. We stayed in a Riverfront Villa, and waking up to that dramatic river view was a highlight of our trip.
The attention to detail here is incredible. We also treated ourselves to a couple's spa session. Don't let the occasional negative review sway you; the service was 'on point' and the setting, tucked into the jungle, is serene. For foodies, Kubu and Ambar are absolute must-visits.
What really sets Mandapa apart, though, is the service. Our Patih was a lifesaver, navigating our schedule perfectly - we suggest you don‘t try to join too many events if you are staying only a few days like us 😅 .

Paradiso luckily had 2 last rooms and allowed us to check in a little earlier so we didn’t need to stay longer at the first hotel.
Rooms were always cleaned & maintained well.
The bar & pool area is such a good vibe & service is very good, so friendly & always up for a chat.

The grounds and pools are like something out of a postcard. The restaurant is very pleasant and delicious. The breakfast, in particular, is excellent and varied.
Our bungalow with a hot spring was generally nice, just a bit smaller than expected, and we're not fans of the mosquito nets, as they make it even more intrusive. Showering with a view of the stars was great, and above all, the water pressure was good, and the temperature stayed warm or cold.
The resort is located in a small village, and transportation from the ferry can be comparatively expensive (200-400 IDR). There's no Grab or ATM nearby.
Renting a scooter at the end of the street at the Warung Makan was easy (under 100.00 IDR per day), which gave us the flexibility to explore the beautiful area.

Having to make an unexpected trip at short notice due to business issues, my regular Bali Hotel was booked out, so based on the positive reviews I booked what has turned out to be my first and last stay at Kuta Beach Club ( KBC )
The only things KBC have going for it are the central location and the lack of traffic noise due to the property being set way back from the road. Restaurant food, taste and price, OKish ( and you must enjoy eating your dinner accompanied by the sound of pool table balls smashing each other and the ongoing pool table banter ) Restaurant service : if you're lucky! Breakfast buffet selection: reasonable. I made my first of many trips to Bali in 2013. I have stayed in 7 Hotels in the Kuta/Legian area and the KBC is the first place I have been asked to give my Room # name AND signature to get access to a pool towel. The only reason you would have this system in place is because there was a problem with towels going missing. That tells you all you need to know about the clientele at the KBC. Discovery Shopping Mall and Waterbom are within walking distance, making it an area where you can enjoy various activities. There’s also a convenience store nearby where I was able to buy beers. The room was spacious and relaxing.

This hotel is a 10-minute drive from the airport and offers shuttle service. It's incredibly good value for money; we stayed here on our first and last nights in Bali. The breakfast exceeded our expectations, even better than Holiday Inn Express hotels I've stayed at. There was no extra charge for our 6-year-old child.
A small path outside the hotel leads straight to the beach in about two minutes (though Kuta Beach itself is quite average). Walking along the beach for about 20 minutes will take you to Discovery Mall, which has plenty of dining options.
On our first night, it poured rain all night, and the area in front of the hotel was flooded the next day. Taxis couldn't get through, so we had to wait for the hotel's shuttle to take us out. It was a rather unique experience!FromSAR 133

This hotel is amazing and offers fantastic value for money! We extended our stay for another ten days. The location is super convenient, with a convenience store, money exchange, supermarket, and plenty of restaurants right across the street. You absolutely *must* try the hotel restaurant – it's cheap, delicious, and the portions are huge. The staff are all wonderful. The room was a bit small, making it a bit tight when we opened our suitcases, but the facilities felt brand new. The shower was great with good water pressure, and the room itself was very comfortable.
The breakfast included fresh-ground coffee and a noodle station. My only suggestion would be to have fewer spicy curries among the hot dishes, as many kids can't eat them.FromSAR 96

This is an older 5-star resort with extensive, well-maintained gardens. The staff are very polite, and the rooms are clean. However, the bedding is a bit old and looks gray. Also, there are two large pipes on the beach outside, and you have to step over them to get to the sand. I'm not sure if they're temporary, but if they stay there permanently, it's really frustrating and really detracts from the hotel experience. Breakfast is a buffet with a decent variety of options. Very Nicely located, close to beach and airport, overall the individual villa’s are good from far away looks but lacks when you start seeing small details when you enter, like all the fixtures are old, looks weary, microwave & gas stove were full of rust, the kitchen marble slab broken into half, very minimal lighting some of them doesn’t work properly, room/bathroom has too many mosquitoes, insects, lizards, caterpillars, not enough lights in the pool at night which makes is scary to use as you never know what kind of reptile you may end up with as the hotel has lush green plantations and located very close to national jungles safari if i am not wrong. Toilet flush is a big headache as it doesn’t do its job in one go you will have to stand there for a good 5-10 minutes ad keep flushing it 5-6 times which is very annoying.
Further with buffet breakfast, there may be huge selection of meat/non veg items but has very few or next to none option for vegetarians/vegans, no air conditioning as mentioned the best you can choose would be fresh fruits.FromSAR 413

Our stay at the Visesa resort was excellent.
It is located a couple of Km north of Ubud in a very serene and well maintained environment. We had a jungle room, which was a short walk from the restaurants and pool.
The room was well-equipped and made up very quickly and efficiently each day.
The only problem we encountered was the damp smell, which was caused by the air conditioning system. We were offered a choice of other rooms to move to, but all had the same issue to some extent; we selected the least worst! Even after cleaning the aircon filters, the problem persisted.
The quality of the food in the restaurants was excellent. Breakfast consists of a comprehensive buffet of western, oriental ans Indian foods, so there is a wide choice for every palate, including veggie and vegan.
Lunch and dinner can be selected from varied menus.
The staff are the resort's best asset - every one of them was so polite and eager to do everything they could to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

This is my second time at Ayana. It's been eight years since my last stay, and the room rates have significantly increased. However, the bedding is honestly the worst I've encountered in a five-star hotel recently. It felt noticeably old; the duvet inside was a grayish-black, and the sheets even had holes and stains on the edges. On the bright side, the hotel app is excellent; you can directly contact the concierge for anything you need. While the hotel is incredibly vast, there are just too many tourists, which really diminished the vacation vibe. Compared to the Kempinski where I stayed for the past two days, I much preferred the Kempinski. Also, the food and everything else at the hotel are very expensive, almost on par with Singapore prices. Room was spacious and cleaned twice a day without us even noticing, so we always got water in the room! A new cove hotel up in the hill next to rice field somewhat 10 mins bike drive to the prime Canggu was truly a gem but the only one small downside of coming in/out here the road were pretty bumpy but that doesn’t really affect me though~ pretty quite and calm at night and I’m happy with my staying!
