Into our 6th day of a 7 day stay. Stayed in a corner suite and got a great deal for 7 nights (tip: check website but book by phone and ask about deals). Service good. Panoramic views of the river, heaps of room, (70 sqm) with kitchenette. Very relaxing - a great place to stay and unwind. Lovely little selection of restaurants within easy walk (or stumble!). Haven't yet experienced in-house restaurant as ambiance didn't inspire. May try tomorrow.

we stayed here in November 2019. we specifically asked question about disabled wheelchair access and were told the room was suitable. the entry on one side of the room was completely unusable for a wheelchair as it had a big step up. the other entry was just wide enough for the wheel chair and had a lip that we ended up having to buy a rubber ramp to use safely. the path from the car to the door was in very poor condition with concrete loose and broken. in the room there was very little turning space to be able to get into the bathroom. the toilet was too close to the wall. floor around the shower area has is a lip to stop the water running all over the floor but causes problems for a commode chair to be wheeled in. the main room has a lovely vinyl floor which is great for a wheelchair but the beds are on wheels so they tended to roll about. the beds are quite low and no raisers are provided. we had to purchase some and put under the queen bed to make it safe for my son to use. the kitchenette are was virtually unusable by him as he couldnt get at things. the stove is a double hotplate that I had to use in the bathroom along with the toaster so as not to set the smoke alarm off as there is no exhaust fan in the kitchen area. we did make the proprietor aware of some of these issues but they didnt seem interested in doing much. all in all for walking people it may be ok but for wheelchair users it is definitely not suitable.

If you are looking for somewhere to relax and also enjoy the amazing salmon from the restuarant. Ballina Byron Island Resort is not far from the local town strip with many shops and gifts you can buy as well as the local shopping centre Ballian Fair. Short distance to travel to Byron Bay for the day, then come back to the Ballina Byron Islander Resort and enjoy a relaxing swim in the pool and spa. It is a trip I make every year and the staff make you really welcome. Sandra Gulmen

We had a single night in Ballina to attend a funeral the next day. This is an "older style" motel but was perfectly adequate and very reasonably priced. Most rooms are well set back from the main road towards the back of the large property making it very quiet. The setting is very nice with plenty of outdoor space with a large grassed area and pool in the middle. The rooms open onto a verandah overlooking this area with chairs and picnic tables to sit out or for breakfast. The rooms were very neat and clean. The motel owners are friendly and offered to collect us from the airport and drop us back if we needed a lift. We would like to say a special thank you to the lovely Julie who provided us with a place to change after our funeral (well after we'd already checked out).

Chaparral Motel, Ballina We were on a road trip and was really tired, so we need to stop for a night , the reception was really nice and sweet, a nice lady and brought us to our room , really spacious for 3 person, the bath also clean , with a good shower, fridge and fresh milk and coffee and tea maker, however the wall a bit thin, as our neighbor was upset and banged our door to yelled at us, it wasn’t even 10 pm, didn’t really upsetting us, as we were tired too, the plus point is the parking space just Infront of our room, the location is also good, we didn’t really pay too much attention with the surrounding, however its next to the big prawns, we were really appreciated this place.

We only stayed one night on a trip heading south but it was an excellent choice. It is a typical Aussie small town motel which are always the best for value and comfort but this had several extras. Three adults were comfortably accommodated with a queen and single bed in our standard twin room. There is the usual bar-size fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery, washing up supplies plus a table and chairs for three and a sofa. Other bonuses Netflix and wifi, insect spray if you did need it but also screens on the windows which opened. Air con and a swimming pool. Parking off street. Members prices for the nearby Sports Club where we had a good meal (large serves). Walking distance into town but quiet. Very helpful, friendly owners. This was among the best of such motels we have stayed at and would highly recommend to others.

Fantastic. Beautifully clean, great in room facilities including aircon, quiet ceiling fan, bar fridge, TV, shower, toilet, bedside lamps, clock radio, and plenty of power points. My lovely host provided a bottle of fresh milk to compliment the in room tea and coffee options. Ballina has been bypassed by the freeway so the Coast Inn is very quiet and peaceful. Well priced, friendly, convenient and clean make it an easy 5 stars from me.

Friends and I stayed here for our Byron Bay trip. Everything was excellent for this boutique B&B. Location: the hotel is located on a quiet and beautiful street. Walking to shops and cafes (by the water) takes about 10mins. Lighthouse beach is also within walking distance. Byron Bay is about 30mins by driving. Room and Facilities: It is very well maintained with old-days style but equipped with modern facilities inside. The garden is full of colourful flowers and lush trees. Food: Breakfast is classic and very delicious. Dining area is very comfortable, and food delivery to room is possible for enjoying a lazy morning. Service: Staff are very nice, but not in a commercial way. We felt very relaxed just like staying at home.

Our first stop on the annual Wall to Wall Ride to Canberra. Very efficient & friendly young man on reception. Room was lovely & clean & bed very comfy. One of the brave souls tried out the pool, though too cool for us. Ideally located as we had a function at the Ramada Inn so was within walking distance. Very cold wind blowing off the water at the Ramada so once inside very cosy & a couple of drinks went down well. Went for a wander & came across the local Ship's Inn where we had a feed & joined in with a laugh at local midweek Trivia night. Would of liked to stay longer but tight schedule & needed to check out early next morning for the main ride. Would like to stay again and wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Travellers Lodge.

We returned to Ballina following a break of 4 years due to illness and had been unable to book ahead for the same reasons. On arrival we found our favourite Colonial Motel has just let the last room and had no vacancies for a 3 night stay. Derek, a new owner since our last visit, immediately rang another suitable Motel and found us accommodation for 3 nights. We continued our journey north and on our return south I was able to book ahead and reserve 2 nights at the Colonial. Since our last visit 4 years ago some refurbishments have been carried out and we had a lovely big room with queen bed, lovely bedding, a microwave and 2 arm chairs in addition to 2 dining chairs and a dining table. The bathroom has been refurbished with a larger shower and modern basin and toilet. There is plenty of bench space with room for luggage. There is undercover parking and free Wifi. We will definitely return here when we next come this way and continue a habit of very many years standing under the previous owners Paul and Elaine who have retired. We highly recommend the Colonial.
