You get a free bottle of water daily, disposable toothbrush and toothpaste, and the bathroom has a heater, exhaust fan, and plenty of space. The owner even cleaned the bathroom at night because they couldn't stand it being dirty. Compared to other hostels, this one is a bit more expensive, but the facilities make it worth it.
The only downsides are that they don't serve meals, and all the beef at restaurants in Yubeng (both upper and lower) is tough and unappetizing. There's a restaurant with large windows right as you enter lower Yubeng that has a delicious tomato and beef brisket rice for 40 yuan, much better than the popular 'butter tea' guesthouse, which is expensive and serves bad butter tea. Also, people constantly smoke in the common areas, so if you don't like cigarette smell, be sure to book a private room.

The room window directly faces Shennv Peak and Wuguan Peak, and you can even see Ba-Wu-Ba-Mong (not sure if that's the correct name for the snow-capped mountain). If you spot the 'Golden Mountain at Sunrise' or stars, be sure to head to the outdoor area of the cafe on the rooftop for photos. The weather in high-altitude areas is unpredictable, so seize the moment!
And then there are the guesthouse's cats – so many of them, and all incredibly cute! They're friendly and love to cuddle!
The location of Cat's Gaze in Yubeng is destined to be special. It's a bit further from the center of Upper Yubeng, but that also means it's relatively quieter. Anyway, you come here to walk around, so a little distance is no big deal.

The guesthouse owner's little dog seems to be Paopao, the internet-famous dog; she even led the way for us and is incredibly perceptive! What's more, in Yubeng, a place I've always longed to visit, I managed to capture some truly once-in-a-lifetime photos! The 12-bed dorm room was very spacious. With fewer guests these past few days, our stay was incredibly comfortable. From the room, you get a direct view of the snow-capped mountains, and it's also conveniently close to the Ice Lake trailhead. I'll definitely bring my friends back to stay here next time!

We arrived late on the first night, and the hostess and the chef took the trouble to prepare a delicious dinner for us after 9:00. The pancakes for breakfast were especially delicious, both toasted and soft, and the roasted chili sauce was so delicious that we even received two more pancakes when we left.
The grounds are beautiful, with palm trees, pear trees, loquat trees, persimmon trees, and crabapple trees.
The final drive to the hotel is difficult and requires an SUV. I recommend contacting the owner in advance to park on the road above the hotel.

At first, I was worried about not seeing the 'golden mountain' sunrise (and indeed we didn't 😭), so I booked a non-view room. But when we arrived, I asked the front desk if there were any view rooms left, and luckily there was one. We took a look at it and booked it immediately, because the moment you open the door and see the snow-capped mountains, it's all worth it! The hotel also provided complimentary welcome fruit, afternoon tea, and a delicious goodnight sweet soup! The staff were all very nice and enthusiastic. In the evening, when we went to the viewing platform to see the Milky Way, one of the staff members even guided us on how to take photos and helped us adjust the angles. In the morning, they prepared ginger tea for us, and it was a pleasure chatting with her (P.S. Owner, give this lady a raise!). When we left, they even drove us to the bus stop and gave us a souvenir. It was an incredibly happy stay!

There were four of us girls, and upon arrival, the hotel immediately offered to extend the complimentary breakfast to cover all four of us. The breakfast, prepared by the owner and staff, included Yunnan coffee, milk, and toast, which was absolutely delicious.
The beds in the room were incredibly spacious, and the amenities were excellent. There was still plenty of room even with all four of us. The bathroom was super clean and even had heating. The room also came with a humidifier, which was a very thoughtful touch. We stayed on the second floor, and the view was quite good, but the rooftop terrace was even better. The observation deck across the street was also very close, and there were many great restaurants nearby. We felt that the yak hotpot and butter tea here tasted even better than those in Shangri-La city center.
The room was equipped with an oxygen concentrator and an oximeter. One of my friends experienced altitude sickness and wasn't sure how to use them, but the owner promptly came over to show us. It was fantastic. Although we didn't get to see the 'golden mountains' (sun-drenched peaks) during our trip, our stay was incredibly comfortable. We'll definitely be back!

There's just no air conditioning, only electric blankets, so it was a bit cold to get up to use the bathroom. But the view is fantastic because you don't have to go out to see the sunrise over Golden Mountain. You can see it from your room or the rooftop. We foolishly went to the Feilai Temple Observation Deck, but I see they're building a new building in front, so I guess we won't be able to see the snow-capped mountains from this window anymore.

Meaning I still need to head out to see the sunrise view. I commented this to the lady boss but she insisted it was indicated in the booking website.
I paid premium price for it. If I had known, I could book any hotel, eg beside it which is 1/5 of price n walk to the viewing platform for the sunrise 🌄.
After I returned from the viewing platy,Lady boss mentioned they had another hotel which is under theirs under renovation which I could access their roof top to see the sunrise..duh.. she could have mentioned it before I head out for the sunrise.

If you're taking a bus to Wunongding, just let the hotel know your bus schedule a day in advance, and they'll arrange for a driver to pick you up at the tunnel entrance. Be sure to also tell your bus driver you're going to Wunongding so they can notify you when to get off at the tunnel.
The hotel faces the spectacular Meili Thirteen Peaks, and rooms are equipped with tripods for photography. The staff will even tell you the approximate time for the 'Golden Mountain in the Sun' phenomenon. Oxygen is available in the rooms for those who need it, but it's best to turn it off if you don't, to avoid oxygen poisoning.

The real thing is more beautiful than the photo. The room is very high-end and it is very comfortable to lie in. The price is quite affordable, it is really a very cost-effective homestay. The store manager is very nice and provides fruits, snacks and beer. We bought groceries, cooked, and then ate, drank, sang, and chatted together. The fireplace especially created a lot of atmosphere and was perfect for taking photos.
What’s even more interesting is that the password box was broken, and we finally found the store manager who patiently found the tools to help us open it.
The whole stay process was particularly pleasant and reassuring. The layout of the room is also a style I like very much. It is very simple and fresh. All kinds of facilities are available, and the hygiene is even more meticulous. It is a very satisfactory stay experience. Recommended! ! ! !
