Let me be perfectly honest... I didn’t love staying here... however - there are not many good hotels/motels in Hayward, CA and they are expensive (we payed the same amount at a Hilton Hotel property the night before as we did at this Quality Inn in Hayward) this motel is an ok place to stay... keeping in mind it is a motel....we will probably stay there again. This motel has been remodeled, repainted and brought up to date (as much as it could be) The room was clean enough and it felt safe (enough) but .. the floor was wood looking laminate, the walls and doors needed to be washed and the filters on the *PTACT unit were in desperate need of cleaning (so I cleaned them myself). The freezer needed to be defrosted, but it worked well. The TV only got a few clear channels most of them were snowy or the sound didn’t work.. we called the front desk, but nothing was done about it. The head board needed to be dusted and the room needed to be deep cleaned. I feel maybe the housekeepers are not trained to deep clean, the management/housekeeping supervisor needs to door room checks and look at the walls & such. The sheets & bedding were clean, there was an Iron, ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker & ice bucket. The towels were not “hotel quality” but they were white & clean without stains. The pillows needed to be replaced with king size, and the bed could have been more comfortable, but I find that is strictly a preference, some like hard mattress & others like soft. The Motel did offer breakfast in the lobby, but the front desk person didn’t tell us anything about it, and it was late when we checked in so I didn’t bother to ask. The first morning we were there, there was a fight, between two women, in the parking lot, screaming & yelling & acting like fools ... the manager soon broke it up. *PTACT - A Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner is a type of self-contained heating and air conditioning system commonly found in hotels, motels, add-on rooms & sunrooms, etc.. The bed was extremely comfortable, the receptionist very friendly and the location was perfect for our onward route to Yosemite.

When we tried to check in the attendant in front said we had to pay a $100 dollar deposit that had to be in cash or else we could not check in. He even had a print out he quickly pulled out to point at the required cash deposit. Came back later that night with the cash in hand only to have a patron in front of us request to not have to leave the mandatory deposit the and was still allowed to secure his room. Also, we were given a key that did not work. I went back to the office several times to they could give us a working key. After about three tries the attendant came with me to verify the key was not working. He used the manager's key to open the door. He said he would return with a working key but never did.The room had exposed wiring at the light switch by the door, the smoke detector was hanging from the sealing by the wires. There were dead bugs on the bed. The bathroom was discussing, not cleaned prior to us using the room. There was also a funky smell in the room. We contacted the front office at one in the morning to let them know the room above us was making a lot of noise. They said they would get to it but the patrons of the room above us were still playing music, jumping around and making noise when we checked out at 11.The whole experience and the unreasonable deposit that only applies to some made it worst. We left this place itchy and unable to take showers due to the state of the shower tub. Do not waste your time or money on this place. If we had an option at such a late time we would have went somewhere else.From$79

Property location is probably one where you would stay only if visiting someone who lives in area. Recommend booking online (even last minute or while you are in lobby) as rates are lower than offered if you walk-in. There is a $200 charge assessed to credit card also that is refunded when room is checked out to make sure no damage or stolen items. It is 4 stories and when I stayed on February 19th elevator was out of order; there is also a second building that looks like it is two floors. Was on 3rd floor and could hear people tromping around in room above me. Room has microwave and refrigerator and dated furniture, with the exception of rust along top of tiles in shower/tub room seemed to be clean. An extra blanket would have been nice but heater was sufficient. Trash truck does come early in morning (unknown schedule) and could late at night hear traffic on Foothill. Breakfast is minimal and no place to sit in lobby, there is an IHOP within walking distance and a donut shop across the street that while not the cleanest, donuts are good. Wi-fi was a bit slow, adequate selection of television channels. Would say people running it make an effort but property is tired and dated.From$72

We decided on this Hotel sue to the good price value and proximity to the Oakland Raiders Coliseum. Fairfield is right off the freeway and there is a 7/11, Subway and Starbucks right next to it. Breakfast is free with plenty of choices with adequate seating for all. Parking is free too and the hotel is open air which adds a nice touch. Staff was very friendly, the only thing is walls are little thin as we heard our neighbors TV and discussions and they were not partied either. We will stay here again on our next visit to the Bay area. Thanks for nice stay Marriott Fairfield Inn and Suites.From$116

The person at the front is rude and unhappy, the pool is a cesspool, the room smelled of mold (or something foul), the entire place is generally poorly kept, our fan made more noise that the TV, the cooler blew particles into the air and the bed was as hard as the floor. You can buy illegal drugs across the street or get rid of your extra money if you want by giving it to the aggressive panhandlers there. The place had an overall very creepy vibe about. Above all of that we were afraid to touch anything for fear of contamination from that deadly virus--we had to get the hell outa there and checked out shortly afterwards with no possibility of any refund--what a scam! I booked online after seeing all of the very nice fotos of the place and skipped over the written reviews to my dismay.. I can't understand why the place hasn't been boarded up!From$68

I work at Cal State, East Bay. One evening I was just too damn tired to take the long commute back to San Francisco. So, decided to stay in Hayward for the night (I always keep an overnight bag in the trunk just in case I think IO might not have the energy to drive safely back home). Every motel close to the campus was sold out - but the Vagabond Inn, about a 15-minute drive,- had one room left. Believe me, I did not want to pay the $149.00 room fee, but by Bay Area standards, I suppose that is par for the course. The hotel is in an especially gritty part of , generally, gritty Hayward (I saw a ****** in short pants (the weather was frosty) standing right outside the motel. However, the motel's clientele all appeared to be law abiding citizens - for instance, many contractors/trade union folks. My room was spacious and immaculate. Also, I had my little doggie - the room fee was a very reasonable $10. The breakfast was just cold cereal, a bit of fruit, and coffee/tea. In conclusion, I would not hesitate to stay there again.From$75

Stayed one night after our flight from the UK to San Francisco.
The bed was extremely comfortable, the receptionist very friendly and the location was perfect for our onward route to Yosemite.

Compared with the Sheraton Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf, the hotel is more profitable. The room is large and there is breakfast. In addition to regular bread and coffee, there are egg patties waffles and fruits. The key is free parking, saving dozens of dollars.From$140

When we tried to check in the attendant in front said we had to pay a $100 dollar deposit that had to be in cash or else we could not check in. He even had a print out he quickly pulled out to point at the required cash deposit. Came back later that night with the cash in hand only to have a patron in front of us request to not have to leave the mandatory deposit the and was still allowed to secure his room. Also, we were given a key that did not work. I went back to the office several times to they could give us a working key. After about three tries the attendant came with me to verify the key was not working. He used the manager's key to open the door. He said he would return with a working key but never did.The room had exposed wiring at the light switch by the door, the smoke detector was hanging from the sealing by the wires. There were dead bugs on the bed. The bathroom was discussing, not cleaned prior to us using the room. There was also a funky smell in the room. We contacted the front office at one in the morning to let them know the room above us was making a lot of noise. They said they would get to it but the patrons of the room above us were still playing music, jumping around and making noise when we checked out at 11.The whole experience and the unreasonable deposit that only applies to some made it worst. We left this place itchy and unable to take showers due to the state of the shower tub. Do not waste your time or money on this place. If we had an option at such a late time we would have went somewhere else.From$79

Property location is probably one where you would stay only if visiting someone who lives in area. Recommend booking online (even last minute or while you are in lobby) as rates are lower than offered if you walk-in. There is a $200 charge assessed to credit card also that is refunded when room is checked out to make sure no damage or stolen items. It is 4 stories and when I stayed on February 19th elevator was out of order; there is also a second building that looks like it is two floors. Was on 3rd floor and could hear people tromping around in room above me. Room has microwave and refrigerator and dated furniture, with the exception of rust along top of tiles in shower/tub room seemed to be clean. An extra blanket would have been nice but heater was sufficient. Trash truck does come early in morning (unknown schedule) and could late at night hear traffic on Foothill. Breakfast is minimal and no place to sit in lobby, there is an IHOP within walking distance and a donut shop across the street that while not the cleanest, donuts are good. Wi-fi was a bit slow, adequate selection of television channels. Would say people running it make an effort but property is tired and dated.From$72

I’ve read all the reviews here and didn’t experience many of the issues. The place was comfortable, the room was tidy and well equipped with a coffee machine and a large television. The breakfast was excellent too!From$68
