I had the privilege of staying at one of the world's top 14 luxury hotels, the Mandarin Oriental – Qianmen.
Located in the heart of Beijing, the hotel isn't housed in a typical high-rise but rather spread across various courtyards within the hutongs, which perfectly captures the essence of old Beijing. The ancient charm of the courtyards blends seamlessly with the luxurious and advanced modern facilities, without feeling out of place. Moving between the lobby, restaurant, and guest rooms is done via the hotel's specially designed electric buggies, which navigate the narrow hutong streets with remarkable smoothness.
Our butler, Carla, provided impeccable care from check-in to check-out, promptly responding to and fulfilling all my requests. She offered not only practical assistance but also immense emotional value.
I definitely plan to return to experience different seasons and holidays, each offering a unique feeling!
I hope you continue to maintain such high-quality service and guest experience!

Really enjoyed my staycation at the Mandarin Hutong with my favorite person. We booked the hotel's basic room type, and the hotel generously offered a complimentary two-level upgrade at check-in. During our stay, they also provided tea and bottled water for brewing it. The room itself already came with a wide selection of complimentary soft drinks and a bottle of white wine. Sticking to the principle of not wasting anything, haha, and with a local friend joining us for a game of 'Guandan' (a Chinese card game) in the room, we made sure to fully enjoy all the beverages, trying not to let anything go to waste! 😁
The only minor point of criticism was one of the Mandarin staff members; it seemed like her knowledge of the hotel's room types was less than mine, who just browses forums, which was a bit awkward. 😅
Overall, it was very much worth it. I look forward to coming back here for a second visit with her in a different season in the future.

The quadrangle courtyard has a very strong positive vibe, and the scenery is beautiful. The Ming and Qing dynasty architecture really captures the essence of old Beijing. What I liked most was the private butler, Danika, who provided thoughtful service; even the kids loved her. Breakfast can be delivered to the room, which was an absolute treat. The room was spacious, giving the children plenty of room to play, and they could also enjoy the courtyard. Danika helped us with our luggage and thoughtfully prepared sun hats for the children, which were incredibly practical. Five-star recommendation!!!

Before check-in, private concierge Danika proactively added me on WeChat to ask about my stay and introduce the hotel's facilities and restaurants. The room was well-maintained, and they provided a generous welcome amenity. The bedding was very comfortable, and the hotel's location is great, right next to Wangfujing. At check-out, Danika specially wrote a card wishing me a smooth journey to my next destination 🥹. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I have the chance.

It is very convenient to travel by car with the elderly, children and dogs. It is located halfway up the mountain next to Gubei Water Town. The housekeeper registered the car in advance, so the car can be parked directly downstairs. The room is large and comfortable, and the children are also very happy.

The room was very nice. I was very tired from the two-day trip to Gubei, but my family felt that the best thing was to stay here and have a hot pot in the room to keep warm and warm. The children also had fun playing with Lego in the room and playing on the swing. Very happy too🥳Awesome👍

On weekends, a family came out to play and enjoy the summer in Beijing. The environment of the homestay is very good. My favorite should be the large terrace on the roof. It is very cool to blow a small wind at night. It is good to raise a glass and drink with three or five friends. The homestay provides a lot of things, eating, drinking and having fun, and the boss and housekeeper are very good.

Starting the day perfectly with a super five-star experience!
The most delightful surprise during this stay was undoubtedly the hotel's breakfast. It perfectly embodies the luxury and thoughtfulness of a super five-star hotel; calling it the 'pinnacle of breakfast' is no exaggeration. Since I was traveling with my child and elderly parents, they place a high importance on breakfast. The plan was basically to eat until full, then head out to play, and finally grab some local delicacies in the afternoon when hungry again.
But back to the breakfast, haha. The sheer variety was dazzling, with a perfect blend of Chinese and Western stations that felt like a culinary world tour. In the Chinese section, the freshly cooked braised beef noodles had a broth that was incredibly savory and delicious. I highly recommend the instant noodles (for instant noodle fanatics), especially with toppings like braised beef brisket—it's absolutely divine. There were also steaming hot Cantonese shrimp dumplings and siu mai, each bite bursting with authentic flavor, even better than what you'd find in a Cantonese restaurant. The freshly baked waffles were crispy and sweet, the muffins soft and moist, and the chef could even custom-make Eggs Benedict with your preferred toppings, offering a delicate and smooth texture. The quality of the ingredients was visibly high-end. Seasonal fruits were neatly cut and plump, with juicy sweet watermelon, fresh blueberries, grapefruit, and golden kiwi. The cold cuts and cheese slices were of superior quality. In addition to freshly ground coffee, there were various fresh juices; the orange juice, watermelon juice, and especially the apple carrot juice, all had a fresh fruit aroma that concentrated drinks simply can't compare to.
The service and ambiance further elevated the breakfast experience. The dining area was spacious and bright, with window seats offering beautiful views of the Forbidden City. The morning light streaming in created a wonderful sense of occasion. The staff were prompt in clearing plates, always with a friendly smile, and would even proactively recommend signature dishes. Food replenishment was quick, so empty platters were never an issue.
This breakfast transcended the meaning of merely 'eating until full'; it was a dual enjoyment for both the palate and the experience. Waking up early for this breakfast was absolutely worth it, and it truly makes the hotel's 'super five-star' reputation well-deserved.
The room was very comfortable, and the bathroom area was spacious, not cramped at all. The unlimited complimentary mineral water was a fantastic touch. All the staff members, both male and female, were attractive, and the auntie who delivered amenities was gentle and kind. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in Beijing—it's simply amazing! Oh, and the hotel has a wonderful scent, a unique and sophisticated fragrance. It's super child-friendly; the staff proactively engaged in conversation and inquiries, communicating fluently in both Chinese and English. Even the disposable toiletries were made of wood, which felt incredibly high-quality. I even took the small wooden comb as a souvenir, haha.

This is the second Mandarin Oriental property I've stayed at by myself this year. The view of the Forbidden City from the Mandarin room is even more breathtaking in person than in photos or videos. The room was almost flawless, except for a slight odor from the bathroom. The service provided immense emotional value, with many delightful surprises. On my first day, several staff members already knew my surname, and my deliveries were brought directly to my room by staff. The soft drinks in the minibar were unlimited, and I also received a complimentary bottle of champagne and welcome fruits. During turn-down service in the evening, I was given a sleep spray, and the bath salts were different scents on both nights. Breakfast was a buffet combined with a la carte options, and every staff member provided excellent service. I had a meal at the Chinese restaurant, but unfortunately didn't get to try the steakhouse. The bar staff were also very enthusiastic and gave me a tour of several of the private 'yurt' rooms. Before checking out, Cassie and Mavvin at the front desk not only applied the deductions for my stay but also gave me a small gift. The spa was also good, though the pool was a bit on the small side.

Service: Absolutely fantastic. Every staff member was incredibly proactive, always anticipating needs and resolving issues efficiently. They were quick to adjust plans, which made my stay very pleasant. They offered a different 'goodnight soup' each evening; it was a shame I was always too full from dinner to try it. I really loved the complimentary xiangyunsha pouch.
Food: I tried both RB and Rongfu Banquet meals, and they were exceptionally delicious. The fruit quality was excellent. I returned to my room stuffed every night; the portions were quite generous. The environment was quiet, and breakfast hours were long, extending until past 1 PM. While the selection wasn't huge, the taste was great. I highly recommend the rice noodles.
Room: The cleanliness was top-notch. The room itself was beautiful and very artistic, with a view of the distant mountains. Sitting in the courtyard in the morning listening to the birds was very relaxing. The overall environment was quiet, though the view wasn't as expansive as I'd hoped.
The hotel offered a few small activities, which I enjoyed and found pleasant. I also appreciated the policy of not allowing children under 12 or pets.
Now for a few minor drawbacks:
Considering the holiday pricing, the room structure felt a bit small; it was long but not wide enough, making the living space slightly inadequate. The shower and bathtub frequently dripped, which sometimes disturbed my sleep. We didn't particularly like the visual effect of the wall behind the shower when the lights were off at night; it felt a bit uncomfortable. Also, the duvet made noise when turning over, which affected my sleep.

My husband and I escaped the city for two days. We drove up a winding mountain road to the hotel. The moment the big gate opened and we drove in, the mountain view that greeted us felt like another world – absolutely breathtaking. The resort is built around the hotel, and as soon as we stepped out of the car, a staff member was there to greet us and help with our luggage. We sat on the sofa, still mesmerized by the lush green mountain scenery, while the staff brought over the check-in documents. Signing and swiping the card, they provided impeccable, squatting service throughout, always friendly and enthusiastic. They then escorted us to our room, explaining everything along the way. Breakfast is served until 1:30 PM, with unlimited access. It’s a truly relaxing place for a vacation, where day and night blend seamlessly. For dinner, we usually ate at Xin Rong Ji or the charcoal-grilled Western restaurant. The spa was also great, and the gym even has Gyrotonic equipment. I have to say, the founder really has excellent taste; even the small details, like the niche wafer biscuits in the mini-fridge, were delicious! We didn't get to try the cinema or the pool, and only had a quick look at the bar. There’s even a cigar bar! We'll have to leave some things for our next visit.

A (too) Brief but Breathtaking Stay: My Review of Aman Summer Palace
My stay at the Aman Summer Palace was nothing short of magical, a true highlight of my trip to Beijing. I was immediately greeted by name—an astonishingly personalized welcome that set the tone for the entire visit. It felt less like checking in and more like being received as an honored guest.
The hotel itself is a masterpiece of tranquility and luxury. The facilities, particularly the swimming pool, the gym with its top-notch machines and the unexpected bonus of a Reformer Pilates studio, were truly impressive. It was the perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing.
What makes this place a standout is its unrivaled access to the Summer Palace. The privilege of entering the grounds directly through a private back gate is an experience that cannot be replicated. It felt like a secret key to a world of imperial grandeur, allowing for peaceful, VIP moments before the public arrived.
Every detail, from the seamless check-in to my reluctant departure, was handled with an effortless grace that made my solo journey feel utterly pampered. For anyone seeking a unique blend of historical immersion and luxurious retreat, Aman Summer Palace is an absolute dream.

This hotel is quite unassuming from the outside, but it's a hidden gem that's quiet despite being in a bustling area. From the lobby to the rooms, the decor and furnishings are very stylish and unique, truly living up to its reputation. However, the price is indeed quite steep.

The homestay was built on the old house on the mountainside, and it smells very nostalgic. We were built by a group of 120 colleagues and chose a place that was selected for a long time. The landlord communicated very well, and gave us a detailed introduction to the facilities and usage methods in the house. Our needs helped us think ahead of time. The entertainment facilities in the homestay are mainly mahjong and karaoke. The sound effect of karaoke is very good. The songs in the song table are also very complete. The team 70,80,90 is very satisfied. Everyone sings hi. This time we booked the barbecue ingredients in advance in the yard, roasting while eating and drinking, very comfortable. Unfortunately, the weather is still cold, the small pool made by the hotel can not be played, and it will be more fun to wait for the summer.

A great experience. I found this low-key homestay on the Internet by accident. I came here during the week and there were no other guests. I accidentally contracted the entire small courtyard. The boss is very close to the people and personally called to arrange check-in and other matters. The aunt next door is the waiter of the hotel, on call, warm and thoughtful, and the breakfast is very rich and delicious. The decoration style of the homestay is both retro and romantic, while retaining the original appearance of the old house. You can also barbecue in the yard. It is a place worth visiting again.

I was very satisfied with my choice of this hotel.
The hotel's location is excellent; it's convenient for getting anywhere. Dengshikou subway station is only 300 meters away. Wangfujing is a 10-minute walk, offering a wide selection of food and shopping. The Forbidden City is just over a 20-minute walk.
The hotel's heated pool, sauna, hot tub, and gym are all fantastic facilities. I stayed for four days and swam almost every day.
The staff cleaned our room very thoroughly every day, and knowing there were four of us, they provided enough bottled water for us to drink.
The Christmas decorations in the lobby were beautiful, and the children were very excited. Some young people specifically came to take photos, which I think is perfectly fine and didn't affect our stay. I support the hotel's approach, allowing more people to share in the joy.FromIDR 2,115,656

From 2014 to 2019, I spent six-weeks each summer teaching in Beijing, and over that time, the Boyue Beijing Hotel has served as nothing less than a home away from home for me. It is exactly its friendly embrace and easy elegance that distinguishes the Boyue from Beijing’s larger, higher-profile hotels. Still, after a six-year absence caused by the pandemic, I was concerned that I might find a far less welcoming version of the place I had truly come to love. It was a relief to see that Liu Baojun was still out front and that Lisa was still at the head of the dining room, but so many others who had made my stays at the Boyue so unforgettable had moved on. However, no sooner than I checked in, my worries began to vanish completely. That’s when I first met three extraordinary new staff members—Jiaqi, Yonah , and their supervisor Anais—who demonstrated again and again that hospitality was still the heart and soul of coming to stay at this Chaoyang institution. Through the hard work of such talented and committed professionals as these three, the Boyue not only continues to check all the boxes that one expects to find at the highest levels of the hospitality industry—comfort, attentiveness, fine dining, and first-rate facilities—but I am also convinced that in the years since the pandemic, it has actually surpassed its own considerable track record of excellence. Thank you, one and all, for making my latest visit such an absolute pleasure!FromIDR 1,131,743

The deluxe view room, facing due east and located on floors 25 and above, is part of the executive level, offering panoramic views of the East Third Ring Road.
