I have to confess that I arrived with a less than ideal first impression, having had numerous email exchanges gone ignored and unanswered before my arrival, which isn’t what you’d expect from such a five star property. Upon arrival in the early evening checking in was a simple enough process, although I was surprised to be informed American Express cards couldn’t be used as a guarantee, and some other requests for transport had to wait until the morning. The lobby area is spacious and light, certainly feeling high end and that you’re somewhere special. My room was on third floor. There’s a number of lifts serving each of the floors and you need your key card to access each, which is a good touch. I had booked a Comfort Room for single use, so while the bed was laid out for a single person it was still a Queen and a decent size. The room itself wasn’t the most spacious but good enough for a few nights. There was plenty of space in wardrobe along with hangers, as well as plentiful drawers and a luggage storage shelf. The mini bar was pretty well stocked and there was also some complimentary bottles of water, both still and sparkling, as well as a welcome chocolate which was nice. A kettle and instant hot drink items were available as well which was appreciated. The TV was a good size for the room, although the bottom of the picture was somewhat blocked with it being at the rear of the main dressing unit, and it was actually quite complicated to function, especially if you only wanted to find standard TV channels rather than the different guides on hotel facilities. The view was pretty naff, although I appreciate this was their entry level room, but the air-conditioning worked well without being noisy and sleep quality with the nice bedding was pretty good. There was zero noise from adjacent rooms or the corridor. The bathroom was a little tight and cramped but had every possible amenity you could require - certainly demonstrating the five star class of the hotel. There wasn’t a bath but the shower was a good room, with nice storage and both a rainforest head and hand held unit. Power was good, along with the heat and enough of the bottled toiletries were provided. The only annoying thing with the shower was that the door didn’t contain the water effectively, leaving you to have to soak up a rather large puddle from the bathroom after each use. Overall, given it was the entry level room, I found it a decent space. Annoyingly housekeeping never returned if the privacy sign meant you missed them in the morning, and there seemed to be no turn down service, but for sleep quality it was top notch. The bar in the lobby area is a great space, with professional service, a great range of drinks all at reasonable prices, and a really classic but sophisticated vibe. There’s a tiny terrace space overlooking the driveway, which if you’re a car spotter is a prize place given the vehicles attracted by the place, but otherwise it was an enjoyable space for so

I give only 4 out of 5, even that is is probably the best hotel in the Balkan. Read why. It is probably the best hotel of all the Balkan countries, but a few things need to be improved. I stayed twice in this hotel. Each time I arrived I had a lot of luggage with me. All the staff were standing outside and no one from all the bell-boys came to help or even ask if I need help, and they notice me very well. I noticed that they are going to help only nice looking and nice dressed ladies or clients that comes with fancy cars. But I arrived in a simple taxi so no one give a s... It is a pity and they are stupid to judge people by the way they look, since I am sure I am a bigger tipper then all those fancy cars owners. Rooms are very nice but for some reason every day something is missing; one day they did not replenish the missing bottles in the fridge, one day they left the empty bottle from the previous guest and fid not. changed it with a new bottle, the house keeping kept on calling me regarding my laundry, even after I told them not to disturb me and that I will call them when I can. The restaurant serves top quality food, but some of the staff really need some basic training; especially one woman that works there. She is near the till most of the time, but when she walks in the restaurant, she is completely avoiding eye contact with clients, like she do not want to serve you, or she just not interested too much to do her job. Even when she is not busy, she would not look around to see if someone need anything, not even once. And I was eating there dinner every single day. The people who stand at the entrance never great arriving people, at least not the ones that are arriving with anything less than a Mercedes. When I arrive the first time, I told them that I am an Expedia VIP client and will appreciate an up-grade. The lady in the reception told me that because the price I paid with Expedia was not so high, they can't up-grade me. I told them that this is really a bad excuse, only then they gave me the up-grade. Room 433 I do not recommend to stay; the air-condition is broken and it is too cold in the room, not possible to adjust. The good news: as I have written in the beginning, it is probably the best hotel in the Balkan. Rooms are beautiful full of amenities and the SPA is superb.
