This jewel of a private home, all to yourselves, is hidden on a narrow, quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of the ancient Moorish city of Marrakech. (Derb Alililj #29, Kaat Benahid, Marrakech, Medina) ONE Airport arrival transport (for up to 6 people) and Breakfast are included. Additional Moroccan meals are available. The cost of lunch or dinner is DH100 per person. Please make your request and pay the staff the day before the meal, so they can shop and prep. I'm sorry we do not arrange meals for the day of arrival. There are several very reasonable restaurants within a short walk from our riad for a lovely lunch or dinner on the day of your arrival.

It is a world far removed, though close to the modern part of town, just a short flight from anywhere in Europe and closer to New York than is London. You will be greeted at the airport or train station and welcomed by our staff upon arrival at Dar Ajiba. From our residential neighborhood it's but a short walk to all of the craft markets (souks), open-air vegetable vendors, several important historic landmarks and one of the finest gourmet restaurants is around the corner. The UN World Heritage Site, the Jmaa el Fna square, always jumping with amazing entertainers and restaurants, is a 15 minute stroll. Though cars are not allowed into the maze of small streets, with everything so convenient a car is unnecessary, and for occasional trips to other parts of town inexpensive taxis are close by. Each morning you will be served a traditional Moroccan breakfast, included in your rate, along with light housekeeping.

The house, 1700sq ft (160sq meters) on two floors, has been remodeled in the 'Beldi' style (traditional, rustic techniques), but with many modern comforts added. From the street, the carved doorway opens into a welcoming entryway leading into the terra cotta tiled courtyard open to the sky. Surrounding the courtyard, accented by a lovely wall fountain, are the doors and grill-work covered windows of the living room, office, kitchen and 1/2 bath. The living room, with hand loomed Berber carpets has two seating areas. To the right is a classic Moroccan salon with upholstered, carved banquets. On the left comfortable leather chairs and hassocks face the fireplace. The office has a desk, and a cozy banquet seating area with handwoven Atlas Mountain pillows and rug. The kitchen is complete with modern appliances and granite counter top.
The next floor has three inviting bedrooms, a laundry room with washer and dryer and a charming full bath, all arranged around the courtyard with carved balustrades bordering the connecting balconies. Each room has a double bed, seating area and wrought iron grill work windows with shutters.
The stairway continues up to the roof terrace that provides a spectacular view over the Old City's rooftops to the High Atlas Mountains beyond. A ramada and canopy create shaded areas with tiled table and chairs, and a staircase leads to a small observation deck for a 360 view. In a corner of this walled terrace is a private shower, and a grill work balustrade surrounds the central courtyard opening.
As much or as little household help as required is available. Arrangements can be made for a cook, housekeeper, guide/translator (French and Arabic are most useful but many people also speak English). WiFi included. Our local English-speaking agent is available for orientation and assistance. The owner, fluent in Moroccan Arabic dialect, can be reached at any time by phone or email.

Note: 3 upstairs bedrooms are Air-conditioned and heated. 4th bedroom, Salon and office/library are on the cooler floor and heaters are available in winter. Kitchen is open to the courtyard and therefore not air-conditioned or heated. I used it on my honeymoon! It was close to the big road, so it was okay to move even if there was a heavy suitcase. It is also a location where taxis are easy to catch. The Riyadh was very well maintained and I didn't mind the sound of other rooms. I was particular about the furniture in the shared space, and I enjoyed taking a walk. On the day of check-out, I checked out before breakfast time, but the kindness of the hotel prepared a meal before business hours. The staff talked to the color 々, and everyone was very kind and responded and it was a wonderful stay. Recommended for staying in Marrakech!

I stay in this hotel five days with my wife we like customer service hotel location is very good near madina red square about five minute walk . breakfast is very good every day they give you something different I like their breakfast . Mohammed little boy very helpful if you need anything, ask him he will help you owner of this hotel he good as well when first time I arrive in hotel by accidentally they charge me £100 extra but when I speak to owner is sort out very quickly he give me refund in cash very next day he is very good person . but let you know something I like something I don’t like but pricewise is very good. Some people leave in luxury life when they arrive in Riad they think is not up to standard but let you know one thing Morocco is tourist country and little bit poor country so don’t expect too much but is very good according to price and service I like it. I highly recommend riad lakhdar.

Having said that the lobby and roof top restaurant were always much cooler so probably just our room or because of the heat outside but it definitely didn’t feel cool during day time.  - lady at omelette station at breakfast always had an attitude for no reason at all.

It was rly amazing, the Hotel looks so impressive inside and you can discover so much. The stuff is very helpful and kind. What i not liked. - the security stopped me and asked if i am a guest i found it a bit of insulting. At the end he not even apologized for asking. - we booked 2 rooms. instead of bringing both of us in each room they brought me and my friend to my room and just after asking they setuped the room for my friend - i used the minibar and drunk one beer after i wanted to pick the 2nd one i figured out someone drunk it already and putt it empty in the fridge. My luck i could solve the issue quickly with the stuff and i not had to pay it. But at this price just disappointing. Overall we had a great stay and it was very comfortable in the room and the park is great so also the cocktails and food.  If i would come back, yes with my Girlfriend a bit longer to discover more whats hidden in this Magical Hotel

The hotel is located in the heart of the old town. Close to an ancient tomb that is more than 500 years old. There are many people visiting every day. This hotel can be said to be called Taoyuan in the city, but the surrounding environment is not very good. According to the waiter, the hotel started building a new building in 2002 and first bought a house, and later bought eight more. The owner, a Frenchman, renovated the nine houses as a whole and connected them together. The design is very elegant, reflecting the Moroccan national style. Every detail is very delicate and can be called a work of art. The three-story roof is covered with flowers and various layouts. Very novel. It feels extremely cozy. The hotel's food and beverage varieties are relatively small and the taste is average, not as good as other nine points. The price is not cheap either. Overall, this hotel is quite unique. Staying for a day or two is no problem.

We stayed there for one night because of its proximity to the airport and we must catch an early flight next morning. Thought it was just a hotel offering convenience but it is far more than that. It has all the facilities that guests can enjoy a holiday or a leisure break there, e.g. a very clean, comfortable and big room; the balcony is big enough for two chairs and a table where guests can enjoy the view of garden and the lovely swimming pool; a bar of vibe. Did appreciate the restaurant staffers' hospitality. Its breakfast starts from 6:30am so provides much convenience to guests like us who need to fly out in early morning.

+ beautiful internal territory, protected from the noise of the road; + good breakfast, with a variety of fruits; + friendly staff; + there is its own internal parking for cars; - Wi-Fi does not work, anywhere on the territory, there are many access points, the phone successfully connects to all access points, but there is no Internet at all. Perhaps this was only during my stay, but I do not recommend relying on the Internet in the hotel.

Definitely a very very old heritage hotel with a lot of history! The hotel premises are stunning. The reception and lounge staff were so nice and helpful. I do think, the hotel could do with a litte but of refurbishing especially for the rooms. But I cannot complain! Got the best deal, and had a really good time and the breakfast out in the garden under orange trees was like straight out of a movie! Loved it!!! Great location, close to many more hip and happening hotels, bars, restaurants and cafes.

The equipment is old and the management is poor. very average hotel The problem with old star-rated hotels is not the outdated equipment, but the management, mostly the reception team. The air conditioner in the booked room was broken. I waited for two hours before I was given a room on the first floor, but the door to the garden was still broken. In other words, anyone can come in. This place is far from the attractions, so much room for improvement!
