If you are looking for some peace and quiet near to Syracuse then you can't get much more peaceful than Caiammari Boutique and Spa Hotel. With its immaculate gardens, two huge swimming pools, good sized rooms and absolutely lovely and anazing staff, it really is somewhere to unwind and relax. The breakfast is very good and includes homemade cakes made by the owners fair hands - it's work it just for the cake! The restaurant offers a limited number of anti pasta, first course and mains. All were a very good standard and traditional with a modern twist. As the menu doesn't change, if you are staying longer than say 3 days it is advisable to start to look outside the hotel for dinner options. The restaurant is closed one day per week, so again it will be necessary to leave to hotel (although the owner volunteered to come in an cook pizza for those guests that had no car). This leads me to my next recommendation - transport. The property is close to Syracusa and Ortiga but is a car/taxi journey away. This includes some of the nearby restaurants. A taxi ordered via the hotel is €25 one way, a taxi return from the rank was €35. All taxis come from Syracusa so its roughly the same cost regardless of destination. For the odd night, it's OK, but to do this for several nights becomes a little costly, hence why a car is thoroughly recommended. Regarding the state of roads and fly tipping, which you may have read in other reviews, this sadly is endemic across Sicily in non-tourist areas - even the road to the British War Cemetery is littered with rubbish. This is way beyond the control of the hotel and they should not be held responsible for something out of their control. It certainly does not detract from the property itself. Finally bring some mosquito repellent - the little rascals are across Sicily - inland, Mount Etna, the seaside - they love the taste of tourists.

Four of us spent a week in Sicily to celebrate 3 milestone birthdays (my twin sister’s and mine, my niece’s) and my nephew came too. We flew into Catania, picked up a lovely Alfa Romeo hire car and drove to this hotel for the first 4 nights of our holiday. The hotel was easy to find, 15 minutes outside Siracusa, and was an oasis of peace and calm. Despite being early, our duplex room was ready. We were starving having been up since 3.00 am and they insisted on keeping the kitchen open so that we could have a late lunch by the beautiful pool. that really set the tone for our stay - nothing was too much effort for the family-run hotel. The room was huge, two beds on a mezzanine floors, but next time we go (and we will) we’ll book separate rooms for my grownup nephew and niece. The hotel is quirky with lots of character and beautiful gardens with plants and trees from South America. There was always plenty of space around both pools which were the cleanest I’ve seen. The breakfast were fantastic - home made, traditional Sicilian food with a huge selection. On arrival we were given a map showing places to visit in the area as well as recommended places to eat and, most importantly, we were shown the best places to park when visiting busy Siracusa and Osteria. We had one evening meal at the hotel restaurant that first night - the food was good homemade Italian but being of Italian origin was what I’d make at home. If you are looking for a lovely place to stay, that is relaxing, with wonderful staff who are attentive without being intrusive - this is the perfect spot.
