Reviews From Real Travelers
Hi I just wanted to express some concerns. We are currently staying in the hotel. Unfortunately we had more than one terrible experience with the food and beverage department. First this morning with the room service order. We order the night before for one person continental adding a omelette to the order and we got charged for 2 full continental and the order were missing items like the milk for the corn flakes. We never complain so we let it pass. But after an amazing day in town we came back to see the sunset in the outside area first the restaurant host sent me to the bar area. Then the bar server/ attendant told me that they were not serving anymore in the patio because it was going to rain. I understand and I ask if I could order inside and pay and then drink it outside. I got another NO this time in a super rude manner. I ask were is the door to go to the patio I just wanted to see the sunset. 2 hours later and not even a drop of water I decided to write this. Is very sad that this happens in a place like this. The rooms are not cheap or anything really we expected at least a little bit of more decency from the team members. Honestly the only department in the hotel that was nice was front desk. Still our tray from this morning still out at 2:38 am right now. We understand when a place is understaffed or may have other issues but the guest doesn’t have to pay for the issues in house or worst having to deal with extra rude employees because they don’t know the difference between service and hospitality. Not that we got any service either. We are traveling trough europe on our honeymoon and this is definitely very sad and disappointing.

Very grand and nice hotel. My most expensive hotel stay in Switzerland but I don’t think I received the service I feel this hotel should provide. Room is clean and tidy

Clean hotel close to the charmey public baths, which are spacious, but average for a spa experience. In the restaurant you may order a la carte, or compose your food on the buffet. Watch out that you do not taste from your partners’ dishes from the buffet, you might get intercepted by the head waiter informing you about an extra charge he must apply. Insulting and unprofessional service. Overall 5 star pricing for 4 star amenities. Govto the swiss german hotel -spas for a better experience.

Our second stay is relaxed in this exceptional hotel. The hotel is very charming, the staff is welcome and the bathrooms of La Gruyère are accessible directly through a tunnel under the hotel.

This hotel used to be a favourite for world travellers 15-20 years ago - until the manager at that time divorced his gracious and kind wife. People would return year after year. Then stepped in another woman with the same desk job. Sadly, and as a result, this hotel has in the last 15-20 years deteriorated significantly. A pity, because at one time, it really was a fantastic place to both stay at, and dine at. I used to recommend it. On our latest visit my rosti was overly salted and the salad overdressed. My partner's curry was bland and tasteless. The Italian Maitre D was very kind though and replaced the food which we couldn't eat. They have a very good wine selection. However, after numerous unpleasant encounters with an arrogant and unfriendly lady (who is apparently the wife of the owner), my partner and I decided to stop visiting this establishment, and rather switch to the many other superior options in the area where friendliness, kindness, and good food are to be found.

Amazing newly renovated and in best location in Gstaad! Great room and views! Staff were super friendly - Ivan and all in reception. Very helpful and made us and everything feel good.

We had a wonderful experience at the Grand Hotel Suisse Majestic. It is across the street from the train station. The check in was flawless and we were able to check in early. We had a room with a balcony which overlooked Lake Geneva. We asked several of the staff for assistance on places to go and directions and they were knowledgeable and helpful to us. They never made us feel rushed as we attempted to convey where we were trying to go. The beds were so comfortable and the room was spacious. The bar and restaurant were busy but we did not eat there as it was a bit pricy. We had breakfast at Fleur des Pains next door which had a wonderful selection of pastry. We would definitely stay here again.
- Guest User
Excellent hotel, luxurious and very well appointed. The location is fabulous as the terrace for the bar and dinner overlooks the lake. Service was exceptionally good. The room was comfortable, clean and everything worked. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was spectacular. All in all we would highly recommend the hotel

We love Hotel du Pillon! It is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. The rooms are comfortable and charming, meals are delicious (the macaroni, fondue and lamb are not to be missed), and Francis and team are very welcoming. It is fun to enjoy a glass of wine by the fire after dinner, and to visit with the other guests. We also like the quick walk into Les Diablarets village, as well as taking our dogs for walks along the trails by the hotel. The only bad thing about the hotel is having to leave! :) Thank you for another wonderful vacation.
- Guest User
This was one of the best times we have had in Switzerland! L’Hotel du Pillon is special and spectacular. The host, Francis, provides a warm welcome and a perfect balance of gracious hospitality with erudite knowledge, especially of the art world. Wonderful paintings adorn the walls and staircases along with books and magazines. The rooms were spacious, sparkling clean with sweeping views to the snowy mountains. Perfect dog too! Wish we could have stayed longer than two nights and for sure we will be back as soon as possible.

Reviews From Real Travelers
The location of the hotel is excellent, the lake-view room amidst the fragrance of birds and flowers, Facilities: A little bit old, the decoration style is relatively old-fashioned, very similar to the feeling of returning to the five-star hotel in the 1980s and 1990s. Most of the guests staying in the hotel are old European and American money, which is in line with this decoration style. The room is very big, but the bed is not big Service: Very friendly, friendly and enthusiastic. Generally speaking, it is still very good
- cet7
The facilities are first-class and the room price is not expensive. You can have a panoramic view of the lakes and mountains. Walking along the flower avenue, you will enjoy world-class scenery in the morning and evening. The cost-effectiveness of dining is not high, and the bus station is easily accessible. If you don't have much luggage, you can walk there in 10 minutes.

This is a tricky review to write as if you walk into it with your eyes wide open knowing what you will get then it provides it. If however, you are expecting a normal hotel then you will be sadly disappointed as it is more of a hostel. Based on the reviews we had already adjusted our expectations and even then there were a few things that caught us out. The rooms are basic but clean and quite spacious. I have read that people complain about the lack of a kettle but it is simple enough to get one from reception, you just have to ask and pay a deposit. The same goes for a transformer if you need one. Note there are no lifts so you do need to be able to climb stairs but I did see a stair lift going one flight. The room numbering is a mystery to me (along with many others) so don't be surprised to see people wandering around muttering their room number and looking confused. They don't supply tea bags etc in the room so if you want them you have to provide your own. Do not try to take them from breakfast as this is 'frowned upon' by the management who want to charge you for them from behind the bar. We take our own coffee so was of no consequence to us but there were a couple of heated discussions. Breakfast is a simple buffet affair with cereal and bread along with a small selection of cheese and meats. There was also an egg broiler which is worth watching if for no other reason than to see the confusion on people's faces as they try to work out how to use it. Lunch is not an option The food choice for dinner is non-existent as the chef caters to everyone at the same time with the same set courses. There are restaurants in the village which aren't that far away but it is a steep uphill walk. Bear in mind that Switzerland is expensive so you will not get a cheap meal. The hotel kitchen closes on Monday & Tuesday meaning you will have to eat out, but on Monday bear in mind that most restaurants in the village close as well. There is a co-op (not UK but just the same name) that is within walking distance and in line of sight to the right as you leave the hotel. It's of a reasonable size so you can stock up on provisions. Note it closes at 7 so if you are going to have a 'picnic' get in early. The bar is run by reception so when they go home the bar closes. The timing is a fluid affair as it depends on individual members of staff. At £8 a pint it's not cheap and your choice of beer is lager (one tap does all). Interestingly the wines are all locally produced and the hotel does strive to support local businesses. In conclusion, if you want a simple base to explore Switzerland from and are prepared to accept 'hostel' rather than 'hotel' standards it is fine. As for cost, I have no idea but as mentioned Switzerland is an expensive place and the beer prices were about the same all over.
