Had a lovely stay there as part of a solo trip to Chile recently; the staff were universally thoughtful, kind and helpful, and the room was immaculately clean, very comfortable and well-appointed. Location in a great neighborhood and close to a metro station as well as large shopping complex and parks made getting around easy. Would certainly return without hesitation.

This hotel stay was arranged by Silversea following a cruise from Guayaquil to Valparaiso, with return flights from Santiago. Our room was comfortable; food, wines and service in the restaurant were generally excellent. We had a late-evening flight out of Santiago, so the hotel folks graciously let us stay in our room until 3:00 p.m. If back in Santiago, we'll definitely consider staying here again.

So there is nothing ‘wrong’ with this hotel. It’s just not what you expect at an MO. Went over to it for some food and drinks. The toasties in the lobby are OK but don’t look appetising, no garnish, all just a bit poor. If I was paying CLP2,000 wouldn’t be fine, but I wasn’t….. Similarly service, OK, but usually MO accommodate whatever you want and staff fall over themselves trying to please. Told could have buffet or a la crate in the Italian restaurant only to be then told since I wasn’t staying there could only have buffet. Again, this just doesn’t happen at other MO’s… Quality of food way better elsewhere with better service is my view on this one….. You need to get the team from London or Barcelona over there to sort this place out and teach the staff the ethos of what MO is and why people rave so much about it and pay a premium …. Wouldn’t be back any time soon with current standards…..

I loved this hotel! The staff was really wonderful and accommodating. Juan was at the front desk each morning with a greeting of ”Good Morning Madame.” Nicolas was very helpful in arranging my stay prior to the visit, which was helpful. Every staff member was really friendly and accommodating. They served a small breakfast buffet in the main level each morning, even cooked eggs to order if you'd like. I went to this country traveling as a solo female. This was a nice location because it's walking distance to several restaurants and a lovely park. I felt completely safe in the area. My favorite was the Peruvian restaurant! I had this amazing seabass dish with scallops and calamari with a sauce on top. This was all on a bed of risotto. Chilian wine...fantastic! I wasn't familiar with this region's wine and was surprised at how good it was. My meal, paired with a lovely Chilian Sauvignon Blanc Reserve was so delicious that I went back and had the same thing the next night. There is also a hill about a mile away that has the Christ statue, that is very walkable. There is a Japanese Garden on the hill. If you can't walk there, there is a funicular and the Uber car service worked just as it does in the US. One tip, if you're from the US or North, the maps will be backwards on Google. Just google directions to get them in the direction you're going. I got lost the first day until I did my Google search on how to fix. The only problem I had was the language. Very few people speak English. I even went to a restaurant, fine dining at a park, quite lovely, but nobody spoke English and the menu was only in Spanish. To make matters worse, my phone died! Be prepared with how to use Google Translate, that will help, but if your phone dies, you're dead in the water. I found it very hard to communicate with people, which would not have been as bad had I not been traveling alone. I found it to be very isolating. I even took a tour with an English-speaking guide. I thought great, now I can chat with people, but NO! It was a guide who spoke Spanish, then translated to Portuguese, then English. I was the only English-speaking person on the bus. The museums, a few are only available in Spanish so no point going to those if you don't speak Spanish. Other than the language barrier, I had a lovely time. My highlight was my hotel and the staff!

The staff are accommodating flexible and helpful wherever they can be. 31 rooms set in a classic European style building on 4 floors and centrally located. The rooms and bathrooms are on the small side but have crisp white fresh linen, fluffy new towels, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and slept well every night. The lounge/breakfast area is very stylish an spacious. The breakfast is excellent and very well presented. Lovely coffee pods and crispy bacon were my favourites. The cereal, fruit selection and charcuterie also first class. There are plenty of nice eateries and convenience stores close by in the safe neighbourhood.

Convenient location, clean and comfortable, great breakfast! The disadvantage is that the luxury is still lacking a bit, and it is more business-oriented. Of course, its price is not as high as that of the most upscale hotels in the area. So good value for money is good. Overall: 4.4 It is more business-oriented, and I will choose it for business trips. Will not choose a vacation.

Very good hotel service, but the ”extra large” bed is not so ”extra”, but only large. I was expecting a bigger bed. The attention of the staff very good, very friendly. Regarding the access, from the parking lot, I must say that it is very bad. It is very poorly signposted when one arrives by car. There are no clear signs showing where the entrance to the hotel is.

The hotel was fabulous and the deco was very stylish. We had a great room which was very spacious, comfy bed and lovely bathroom which had an excellent shower. The hotel had a rooftop restaurant and bar which was a lovely spot for drinks and dinner. Breakfast and the service were spot on too. The hotel is centrally located close to Santa Lucia hill which provides great views of the city. There is also a cool neighbourhood close by which has lots of fab places to eat and drink.

Splendid charming hotel located in a central position. Rooms dont really have a view but they are large and beautiful. Breakfast was very good and the only disappointing part was the restaurant located on the terrasse. The terrasse itself is nice, but the food was disappointing. We ordered our steaks rare and they came well-done, and quality was not the greatest.

Reviews From Real Travelers
I was excited about staying in this new and modern hotel during my trip to Chile this month. I was ready to overlook the location- being far from the historic sites. The fact that the hotel is attached to a nice modern mall with a grocery store made it very appealing. However, the positive sides stop here, and I must mention that one of the doors, leading to the hotel from the mall wouldn't open- my card was working but the door was stuck. So, I had to go back 5 floors of escalators, exit the mall and walk into the hotel's street entrance- all this carrying a heavy bag with my purchases. The biggest shortcoming for this hotel is the Front Desk and the hotel’s concept that all guest’s calls have to go through the desk. And although the nice employees who work there try very hard, the desk is severely understaffed. I waited for a long time to check- in as there was only one person on duty. Someone else finally came to check me in. They say that the first impressions are very important and in this case they set the tone for my stay. Problems with logging into the internet( the employee who checked me in forgot to add me to the system) and the room TV that I had to solve right after I got into my room; even had go to the Front desk for because no-one picked up the phone. And all that after traveling for 24 hours and being very tired from my journey. This morning I again tried to get in touch with the Front desk for another issue, but again no one picked up the phone. I know that if I go to the desk I will have to wait for a very long time to be served only to be told that I need to wait in my room. Because of the many unlicensed taxis in Santiago, the hotel's staff told me at check-in that all trips should be arranged through- yes, you got it, through the Front desk! And what they do it reserve a vehicle and driver with a private company the hotel works with, for 4 times the price of a regular taxi. I used taxis a few times after that (the vehicles with the yellow roof), and didn't have any problems. So, it's the hotel that overcharges its guests with claims that all taxis in town are a scam. And yes, there is no direct phone for the housekeeping department, or for the restaurant, all calls should go through the Front desk, so expect that your call may not be answered on the first, or second try. The breakfast, although seemed plentiful and nice, is of a very low quality. The eggs were semi- raw, the quiche- a few days old. And so were all the pastries. The fruit consisted of a few chunks of what seemed like an old watermelon, wrapped in a small bowl. And at the end of each meal I was given a bill check to sign, even though breakfast was included in my room rate. What this meant was to urge the guests to give tip to the restaurant staff. My plans were to return for a few more days after I travel around Chile, but I cancelled my reservation and booked a different hotel. On the plus side, my room was large, the A/C worked well, beautiful

Hotel looks great because it's relatively new, décor was beautiful and modern. I arrived at 7:00 AM and left my bag in storage while they got a room for me, which was ready at 12:30 PM so thankfully didn't have to wait for 3:00 PM check-in. They upgraded me to a corner room with a sofa bed and beautiful views of the city and Gran Torre Santiago though as a Titanium Elite the upgrade is supposed to be to the best available room, not to the next category and the hotel did not seem full. Loved my two daily bottles of water and the empty mini-fridge. Room had a wonderful illy coffee machine though nowhere to plug it on the wall and no outlets for my laptop either; when I called apparently they had removed an extension ***** so they brought another one. I had an issue with the door lock and a maintenance person came in the same day to explain. Access to Costanera Center Mall is on the 5th floor, right unto the food court and more restaurants. Location next to the mall may be love-it-or-hate-it, especially cause it's not close to the main city landmarks but the nearest metro station is just a 6-7 minute walk. Wi-fi worked great. Hotel has a small exercise room but no pool. Hotel does not have a Club Lounge or similar but got $10 USD daily Titanium benefit of food and beverage, good for both hotel restaurants and room service. Breakfast is $21 USD with some variety of items plus a special menu of three dishes though did not see any traditional Chilean dishes. Staff were really nice; however, there were some customer service issues: the welcome letter states ”ask for robes, slippers and bathroom amenities by calling the Front Desk” so I called asking for robes and slippers and didn't get them so had to call again the next day and got only the slippers; requested room cleaning one day at 2:00 PM because I was leaving the room, came back at 4:00 PM and was not done (housekeeping ends at 3:30 PM); one day the drain hole cover clogged the bathroom sink so I called at 6:30 PM and nobody came so called again the next day when the maintenance person came in to fix it.

There is a commercial center not far from the hotel. You can walk there in 10 minutes and cross the pedestrian bridge. There are many choices. Marriott's service is very good. I lost an item in the room. After communicating by email and phone call, it was passed to a friend. In addition, the breakfast in the hotel is great. It is on the first basement floor. It is the best breakfast in South America! I didn’t take any photos of the hotel, so here are some pictures of the city scenery!

Well located. Our room was spacious with a nice modern decor. The lobby of the hotel is pleasant. However, when we arrived late at night we found that the bathroom had not been cleaned from the previous guests - no compensation or other remedy offered when we reported the problem (although we did not ask because we find it embarrassing, but I would have expected an immediate offer not to charge one night). The breakfast looks great at first sight, but if you are looking for a bit more, such as fat free milk or yogurt, or a good variety of fruit, or some smoked salmon, it's not available.

Remarkably accommodating hotel in a great part of Santiago. The staff was excellent and very patient with my inability to speak reasonable Spanish. I arrived at Hotel Fundador around 4:30 pm on 10/28/2022. There was no employee at the entrance for help or guidance. While standing at the counter, filling out the check-in form, I left my belongings beside me on an armchair. When I finished, I verified that ALL had been stolen, a fact attested by the recording made by a security camera that must be intended to monitor what is the property of the hotel, completely disregarding the guests' belongings during admission. What happened was that a passerby came in and took my luggage, without my noticing or having any warning. I was able to return because I had the documents in hand being used to fill in the identification. I couldn't see the footage, it would be necessary to wait for the security company to send it. This is the report of the manager of the day. When we asked for information about the Commissariat or Police Station for registration, not only were we not advised to do so, but only after much insistence did the hotel ask an employee to accompany us. Daily rates were charged for the days we would stay there, but we returned to Rio de Janeiro on the first possible flight, on the 29th, departing at 5:00 am for Rio de Janeiro where we live (we left the hotel at 2:00 am to the airport). The lobby is big, it looks good, I like old hotels, but when we asked if there was a security officer, in fact there wasn't, the door is not closed and there is no concierge. I had already visited Santiago and the experiences were good, never in this hotel whose appearance on the website and ”live”, especially the accommodation, does not match, it is very different, the room presented is unrecognizable. The site is not honest. It was the worst travel experience of my life.
