      This was our third stay - the last one being 9 years ago. I have given 2 glowing reviews in the past. Unfortunately, this hotel has gone down in quality. The room our in-laws stayed in had very old dried dog poop in the corner behind the chair. Front desk apologized and moved them. For us: although the thermostat was off the first night, a vent facing the bed was blowing very cold air out. It luckily resolved itself the second night. The bathroom floor never fully seemed clean, nor did the shower (random hair found throughout). The fitted sheets don't fit the bed and kept coming off (others have mentioned yet it remains unchanged). The bathroom sink was very slow. I expressed these concerns to the front desk and they were apologetic and sympathetic. So the staff was nice, etc. Would we stay again? Maybe? But I'd definitely check the prices of other hotels in the area first. P.S. The lobby coffee is awful so I highly recommend going to Tattee down the street.

      This hotel is a hidden gem. After considering several nearby hotels for a special occasion reception and dinner for 30 guests, we selected the Bethesdan for its variety of catering and bar option packages, selection of function rooms, location within walking distance to the Metro, and reasonable price. Out of town guests raved about the size and contemporary appointments of the rooms, and the food at the reception and dinner went well beyond typical hotel banquet food and exceeded our expectations. This is a newly renovated property re-established as a Hilton Tapestry Hotel and therefore was pretty much below the radar of many of the attendees who lived nearby. Staff and management were flexible and attentive. Highly recommend.

      We stayed at the American Inn and used the Metro to get into Washington DC to do some sightseeing. This hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest Metro station. By purchasing a metro pass, you can get anywhere in DC and not have to attempt the traffic, which is a HUGE plus. Not to mention, this hotel has tons of restaurants around it, and a top rated Mexican restaurant in it. You won’t lack for choices here. The rooms themselves are nice and clean. Not a lot of modern touches, but you get super fast WiFi, and Directv service. Breakfast is complimentary and is served from 6:30-9:30 am and has hot and cold choices. Again, everyone can find something they like to start their day. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Parking is limited, but also free. If you can’t find a spot on the site, they work with you to accommodate for it. We chose to stay here based on recommendations from friends. The rates are less than finding a room in DC and the free parking and breakfast was a bonus. Let’s face it, you aren’t going to be hanging out in your room all day, so why pay extra for something. The American Inn was a perfect fit for us, and I would definitely recommend and return here in the future.

      This property is wonderful. Not your typical full service hotel but it has a very historic feel to it. The front desk staff was very sweet . The gentlemen who checked in (the night of 03/09) was very knowledgeable, informative, & welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean. A bit outdated but still felt comfortable. The bed was big , the pillows were soft and comfortable, and the blankets were nice and clean. After long day of traveling and working , this was absolutely perfect. The front desk attendant in the morning (03/10) was busy but still ensured that my check out was easy. She was kind and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. If I ever come back to the area, this will definitely be my go to spot. -Tara Ifill

      Good value with full buffet breakfast included (even omelettes made to order). Complimentary cocktail hour, and bar were not available yet, due to Covid. Housekeeping can be requested if needed. The bathroom was stocked with enough towels for our 3 night stay. We enjoyed having a suite (separate living area from bedroom) which included a bar area with a microwave and sink. We were able to heat up leftovers and eat on the desk one evening. If you want a quiet room, I would recommend a higher floor since the breakfast area with is on the third floor which gets noisy in the morning. The hotel has parking but it is not free. Some of the hotel packages include a discount on daily parking. If you take the car out, your parking ticket will be needed to be surrendered to get out of the garage, so have it validated by the hotel before exiting in your car to get the discount if you booked the discount parking package. We did not need to use the car because the Metro (red line) is accessible from the hotel without even going outdoors. Great location with Whole Foods, Cheesecake Factory, and Maggiano’s nearby.

      Worst hotel experience ever! We will never ever stay here again. The hotel staff tried and did their best but there is a lack of communication between the manager, cleaning staff and front desk. The front desk did their best to resolve my issues. One day I had to ask the front desk for extra trash bags since our room had not been cleaned for 2 days and our trash cans were overflowing. The rooms are not cleaned unless you request to clean your room verbally with the Front Desk. There isn't a door hangtag that states: Please clean the room. We stayed here five nights and every day I requested, in person, to the front desk for our room to be cleaned and it was cleaned only once on our very last night. We arrived after 10pm our first night, which was fine because I previously called the hotel to advise them of our late arrival. The room looked nice at first, but it smelled of cigarettes!!! The old carpet and curtains and fabric chair all looked dingy and worn from the 1990s decor. The fabric absorbed years of the old cigarette smells. We didn't bother to ask to be moved because we figured the other rooms smelled stuffy too. This is a non smoking hotel!!! The carpet was disgusting and we always kept our socks on. The room was not cleaned well and we found hair and dirt and grime by the bathroom sink. There were fried crumbs from a previous guest by the air conditioning unit. The room always felt stuffy so we kept the windows open and turned the fan on the air conditioner. We found hair on our bedsheets! We were so tired from our flight, and at this point, so we didn'twant to complain. Both bedside lamps have charging stations for your phones but they were not working. There is one charging station on the desk which we were grateful for. The furnture is scratched. The bathroom shower rod is not adhered well to the wall and the shower curtain doesn't really keep the water inside the tub. The room itself is well insulated and quiet. We only heard a crazy guest yelling and screaming and slamming doors in the mornings. Their website states there is a restaurant within or next door but that is no longer true. That restaurant closed. There used to be a small concessions shop by the elevator, but now it is just an empty room. On a postive note, the hotel is conveniently located 2 blocks from the Van Ness Metro station and there are some nice restaurants within the block: Bread Furst, Viet Chop, Thai Pad, Sfloglina ( Italian) to name a few where we ate and really enjoyed. There is a Burger Kind next door to the Days Inn, but we didn't go there. All the issues above could be easily fixed. There needs to be a better communication between the management and staff. The rooms needs to be cleaner, attention to details. A simple door hangtag which states the guest wants their room cleaned is a simple solution rather than verbally telling the front desk every day. The furniture needs to be upgraded.

      Location: Excellent for for the price. 5 minute walk from the train which is only a few stops from central Washington DC. Room: Ermmmmmm...the hairdryer didn't work, the TV didn't work, the heating just blew out cold air all night, horrible drain smell the whole time, so bad that by midnight both nights I had to open my front door to let the air in, not great in November! Wifi good enough to watch YouTube or Netflix, cleanish. Could do with a refresh and rewiring! I stayed on the 2nd floor in the middle, I can't remember the room number! Service: I don't know 🤷🏻‍♀️ We didn't really have anything to do with the staff. When we were checked in they barely spoke to us and when we checked out they spoke to us even less. However much it was not the best hotel we'd stayed in, it was also not the worst. It was quiet and the location was excellent for the price. I could not have stayed here longer than about 2 or 3 nights, we stayed here 2 nights and the smell was the worst thing, although my brother had the room next to mine and he seemed fine.
