|1.47km from city centerThe Oceano Atlantico hotel is conveniently located in the rather picturesque Praia da Rocha area of Algarve. It is within walking distance of the beach (it takes approximately 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace to get there) and there is also a Lidl store nearby. There are a number of football pitches and pools in the vicinity of the hotel, so it is likely to meet the expectations of people who are sports buffs. There were no problems pertaining to the check-in and the staff members were polite and attentive, with everyone being conversant in English. The rooms, which are akin to mini apartments, are rather spacious and all the necessary amenities are to be found, including towels, shampoo, soap, etc. There was a very wide selection of TV channels and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. I enjoyed the quality of the food (the variety was good as well, but there weren’t that many confectionery desserts) and appreciated that the dinner was buffet-style, which tends to be my preference. A few of the meals appeared to be distinctly Portuguese. This hotel (while not necessarily as luxurious as some of the ones in Lisbon) is likely to appeal to many different travelers. I will definitely be happy to return!

Negative reviews in the past few months The championship course was lush and green and the. Greens were well maintained the. 9 golfers enjoyed the course . |2.57km from city centerFirst off, the accommodation, pool and the proximity to the beach are all great. The rooms are really big. We had a two bed apartment for two adults and two teenagers, there was plenty of space for us all. The balcony’s are huge, and also come with four loungers and six chairs, so perfect for catching the evening sun with a drink. We did have a leak in the bathroom which we raised with reception, which was not fixed. It didn’t cause too much problem, just annoying to get wet feet when walking by as it leaked into the bedroom. The biggest shame was the service and quality of food at breakfast. It was provided by “My Guest” so we assume it was outsourced. The young woman Rosa out the front was really unfriendly, didn’t want to engage and made us feel unwelcome. The food in the hot buffet was lukewarm at best, so not great for food hygiene. The only things that changed in the six days we were there was the fresh fruit and the cake, so it got a bit repetitive as well. Despite this we would still return, we would just do it as self catering as the breakfast definitely wasn’t worth it.

Beautiful and tidy room, stunning view from balcony, though the small bathroom window opens into the corridor and at times there is an unpleasant odour from a pipe in the toilet. Breakfast was adequate and delicious, staff were helpful and nice. Overall a great place to stay!

The local football ground was a stone’s throw away. Pleased we stayed for three weeks and not any less. Going to return next year. Convenient for both town centre and the beach although there are shuttles to both places in the weekday. Fabulous library in the hotel.

|1.29km from city centerGreat stay at vilarosa Myself and my partner stayed here for a week late September early october and had a lovely stay We were self catering so didn't really experience the food and facilities at the hotel but we did spend one of the days by the pool and the staff were friendly and happy The room was spacious large living room area separate bedroom with kitchen and balcony The kitchen had everything needed and everywhere was sparkling clean all the utensils and glasses ect. Located in a beautiful area not very far from the main ***** and beach about 15 minutes away also along the way were resturants bars and cocktail bars ect shops and supermarkets The only issues we had were the price of the beers at the hotel €5 a pint but to be fair came in a cold glass so not so bad just feel could of been a bit less as it was at the hotel what we already paid for but it is what it is we were on holiday so no expense spared One other issue was there was a slight leak above our balcony so if we sat outside we would get a bit wet I guess it was an overflow or something from the balcony above us but again we spent most of our time out and about as praia da rocha is beautiful and the beach resturants bars and shops were lovely All in all highly recommend this hotel would stay again for sure!

|1.8km from city centerArrived Friday midday, pleasant and helpful reception staff, easy check in and hotel looked recently renovated with well presented and modern lobby. We unpacked into a large two bed apartment, three flatscreens and sofa, large fridge freezer and all accessories required for comfortable self catering. We spent a nice afternoon at a quiet pool among other families and couples (pool is freezing cold). This is where the good news ended. Around 5pm two coach loads of students descended onto the hotel with shopping carts (actual shopping carts) loaded with speakers and party signs. Our stomachs sank as did our 7yr olds, intimidated by rowdy youths in the elevator. I enquired at the front desk as to the situation and was met with the news that the party had booked almost the entire hotel out of rooms. The Flor Da Rocha sells the rooms as part of a student party package at various times throughout the year, see screen grab. The sequence of events is as follows; two coaches arrive mid afternoon, the lobby and swimming pool both flood with loud students and then the speakers appear on the balcony’s facing the pool area blasting music. Short lull when they dissipate to the supermarket for alcohol then from 9pm (when the families are settling the children) the noise begins again with shouting / singing / Macarena etc etc. people hanging over balcony’s with guitars, clapping and jeering. No intervention from hotel staff whatsoever. It comes as no surprise the in room telephone also doesn’t work when trying to contact reception. The fact Jet2 are marketing this hotel as a family friendly holiday is ridiculous. No sleep for a family of four for the first two nights of a seven night holiday. We selected Praia Da Rocha as a family friendly alternative to the usual stag and hen locations, what possesses the place to host a two day student bender is beyond me. Unfortunately, this is the second time Jet2 have let us down and we should’ve known better than to travel with them again. The rest of the week was fine although the students continue to come and go, fortunately for us the rest seemed to be athletes / youth groups rather than organised party goers. Given time and money has been spent to update the hotel it’s a real shame they choose to recoup this at the detriment to family and couple guests in an otherwise quiet resort.

It's an odd concept, offering a room in an unstaffed house, that doesn't offer breakfast but also doesn't offer any catering facilities?? We booked a ”Superior Triple room with balcony & city view”. What we actually got was a clean, well-decorated double-bed room, sp****ly furnished with one chair, no table to sit at. The balcony was a tiny Juliet balcony overlooking a narrow street & the house opposite- not big enough to stand on, let alone sit on, but then, the ”city view” was actually a large canvas/photo of old Portimao city,over the bed, not a view of Portimao. Sadly, the advertised roof terrace wasn't offered to us during our stay. That might have saved the day. The house itself is a beautifully restored old Portugese house in a narrow cobbled street, which unfortunately was used as a rat-run by traffic, till the early hours.The house was very clean & well decorated, but without any creature comforts. We'd spent the previous few nights in a comfy hotel in Faro , with a marina view & delicious breakfast, so ND Prestige was a stark contrast. It would be fine for one night, but not for several. The owner met us on arrival, gave us a long run-down of their Covid protocols , then left. We let ourselves out on check-out. (The housekeeper was lovely, we crossed paths briefly a few times, as she let herself in). In short, the accommodation websites (hotels.com in this instance) need to ensure their descriptions of properties meet the reality.

The highlight of each morning of my 5 night stay was the Breakfast. Fantastic choice and everything well cooked and presented. The staff, particularly the trainees, were always friendly and obliging. I couldn't fault anything about the Breakfast at all. The situation of the Hotel was ideal for me but might not suit everyone as it was sited out of the Town. A beautiful beach was adjacent to the Hotel and even out of season there were a variety of Restaurants nearby. All staff, the Receptionists, Restaurant staff and Housekeeping were outstanding, always greeted me with a smile and very helpful.

Almost every night we asked him for directions to restaurants/ bus stops etc and he was so good at explaining it to us. Lovely pool area small but quiet and relaxing Breakfast staff were fine but a simple smile in the morning would have been nice A bit “ grumpy “ to say the least. Umberto was just great. He’s the tall one. Always had the biggest smile for you when we walked in. Very very nice man. Would recommend this hotel. If I ever return to ALVOR , I will certainly return to this hotel. !!! Just to say the jet 2 rep was wonderful. I took ILL one morning and she went above and beyond to help me. Phoned later that day to check on me and also the following day too. Wish I could remember her name. So a big thank you to her !!!

|1.99km from city centerThis was our first time staying at this hotel though we are very familiar with the area having been frequent visitors with our family over the past 14 years or so. The hotel was recommended to us so we decided to take a chance and book - we needn't have been worried. From the moment we checked in we found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful.Our room was a nice comfortable size with an amazing sea view and was extremely comfortable. Breakfast is very varied though it was busy no matter what time we decided to attend yet this was not an issue. The area is very much in the quieter part of Praia da Rocha which is great and because we were there in October we had no problems getting seated at various restaurants - though in high season that would be adifferent story. All in all this was a great relaxing trip and this hotel was wonderful -we will definitely return next year!

|2.3km from city centerWe visited Portugal for our first time in the middle of October. The weather was a balmy 25° pretty much all week ☀️ we were incredibly pleased with our apartment which was very spacious, had a lovely big balcony and was cleaned every day by very smiley housekeepers. The hotel reception staff were warm and friendly and answered any questions we had helpfully and with a pleasing friendliness. The bar staff were very nice too and whipped up a mean pina colada to sip by the outside pool. The facilities (outdoor, indoor pool, sauna, toilets etc) were all immaculate and we very much enjoyed lounging around the outside pool most afternoons. The prices In the bar were very fair, €4 a beer, €6 cocktails and €5/6 for a cheese toastie with fries (which was plenty!!) The local shop was a 5min walk away which had a little of everything and the beach was an easy 10min away. We went into Praia do Rocha most nights and it was around a 20min walk and was around €5 in an Uber back to the hotel late at night. Lagos is around €25 in a taxi/Uber and well worth a day out. Alvor is roughly €2 on the bus which stops just outside. A couple of things were missing from the hotel room such as a mirror in the bedroom, a chopping board in the kitchen but didn’t in anyway affect our holiday. Would liked to have had a double bed but we just pushed the 2 twin beds together (twin beds seem to be pretty standard for the Algarve from what I’ve seen) Would highly highly recommend this apartment/hotel for anyone after a quite, relaxing área to visit. Would definitely visit again around the same time of the year as it was absolute bliss being one of only around 4/5 people around the pool each day. Couldn’t recommend highly enough as all the staff were brilliant and the accommodation perfect.

The hotel has a very good location, the hotel has a very good location and the hotel has a very good location. The room was large, we were in a four-fold, consisting of two rooms with two single beds each, one of the rooms was the bathroom and TV, and the other was the air conditioning and the closet. Both with windows to indoor patios. No refrigerator. Beds are comfortable, but coats are like cotton. In the bathroom there are gel and towels, but not hair dryer. The checkin is made inn. We had breakfast included that with the coronavirus theme can not be buffet, unless the day before at the reception of the hotel made inn, give you a paper with the breakfast options that are there and the next day you have to go to pick it up at the reception of the other Hotel at your time. The options are a salad, another sweet, fruit, yogurt, juices, coffee and a sweet. You can pick up everything and was good. The friendly and friendly reception staff speak Spanish well. I would recommend this hotel.

Our family had two rooms(one on 1st floor and the other in the 2nd)! With partial ocean view. My biggest issue is with the front desk staff lack of care to resolved an issue with our room. Our room had an annoying muffled ”doorbell buzz” sound going off every 20seconds or so. It was constant and non-stop. Notified front desk and a technician was sent up. He basically said it was the A/C and it could not be fixed. I explained that would make it very difficult to sleep and we never had that issue at hotel hotels with the same individual unit. In his broken English we said nothing could be done. Went downstairs to front desk and explained the situation but was told hotel is sold out. After further discussion they offered a different room with no view. At this point we were already late for dinner and could not move all our stuff. No apology, no discount, no concern. On a positive note ...the noise from outside seem to drown the repetitive buzzing. There is a lot of noise from the late night partying, you'd have to stay in the top to floors to have any chance of escaping the music, yelling and car noise. Rooms are somewhat dated modern decor. Pillows are very hard and mildew in the shower. We will not return to this property. Picture is of mildew and view out of our small balcony

|1.01km from city center1st the pros, spectacular hotel in beautiful surroundings, the grounds are immaculate and right on the beautiful beach. We stayed for Christmas on a half board basis. Christmas eve was amazing! Delicious food and free drinks, however the Christmas day gala was extremely disappointing, very poor food ( if any ) in the restaurant, I realise this maybe because the Portuguese celebration is Xmas eve, that being said the rest of the food throughout the holiday was very good, plenty of choice. The drinks in the bar were very expensive and one bar staff member made it plainly obvious he didn't want to be there, we waited such a long time for drinks even when not busy as he would try to look like he was occupied with something else! In the end we took our own drinks which worked out perfectly. All in all a wonderful escape from the British Xmas and a beautiful hotel

|1.65km from city centerThe owners have spent money on the hotel to improve the look and appeal, although despite this there are several things that let it down. We booked a Superior sea-view room and on arrival (our room was not ready as we were early) we were informed that, our room would be on the second floor. We were then placed on the fourth floor and were assured that it was a Superior Sea-view room. The room was tastefully decorated, but a little tired with a partial sea-view - large tree obscuring the sea and with a small bathroom. First night; beds and pillows very uncomfortable, needless to say we didn’t have any good nights sleep for the week we were there (requested pillow exchanges which didn’t help). The room was very hot, twice we reported that the AC wasn’t cooling and asked for a fan which didn’t appear. Housekeeping didn’t refill the fridge with water, nor replenish teas/coffee’s. We asked several times for more water and wondered if they were chargeable? On checking with reception, we were assured they were complimentary - after this our fridge was restocked everyday. Bathroom exchange bidet and face clothes -took them away and didn’t leave replacements). With all our negatives, the location was perfect and staff where friendly.

|1.24km from city centerWe stayed in the Alvor Atlantico Hotel for nearly three weeks and would recommend. We had a Studio Superior, with a Sea View. We were on the 7th floor and the view was absolutely beautiful, we could see all of the beach from the beach at the Atlantida Restaurant to the very end. It was lovely to wake up to. The hotel itself was very quiet, there's no bar, there is an indoor pool, which we didn't use and it was also very clean. The Studio was well equipped with a 2 ring cooker, fridge and plates and cutlery, we had a problem with the cooker and the kettle which was sorted out for us, no problem. We had one rainy day when we didn't fancy going into Alvor, you can book dinner (or breakfast) in the Dom Joao Hotel, which we did for the one night, it was only a 5 minute walk away. It was buffet style but was very good. It's a 20 minute walk into the harbour or centre of Alvor on the boardwalk which was a nice way to start the evening. We will definitely stay here again. The beds were comfortable, a bit hard for my personal liking, the shower was good with plenty of pressure, so all in all would recommend.

I can't fault this place at all- the place was spotless inside and out and the rooms were well equipped with fridge ,safe and air conditioning and lovely hot showers. The breakfast had something for everyone and changed each day. The staff are the real star of the show though and nothing is too much trouble. We mentioned we were looking for worry beads and the next thing we knew one of the waitresses at breakfast went across the street and brought back a selection for us to choose from and purchase from the shop opposite. Special mention to Ioanna who was so friendly and up for a laugh she really made our holiday. Great Central location but quiet with a lovely small pool and pool area. Can't wait to come back!

Its maybe worth noting that the hotel didn't seem too busy, especially for our first few days. Positives: -Brilliant pool with plenty of sunloungers. -Room was spacious and clean. Beds made and towels replenished daily. -Staff were all fantastic and very friendly. The entertainment team were brilliant with our eldest, as were the staff in the kids club. The restaurant staff were amazing too and loved chatting to our youngest. -Our eldest loved the mini disco which is on every evening. She is still singing all the songs! -Great choice of all inclusive drinks & we had no issues with queues. Negatives, although we would definitely return: -We enjoyed the food but probably important to note we'd try anything. Some days there wasn't a great choice for kids, i.e. chicken nuggets etc. Our daughters pretty much lived on spaghetti bolognese. There were 2 BBQ nights which were amazing! The garlic bread was 🙌 -We paid extra for a pool view however depending on the entertainment at night, it could be very noisy. If we went back, I'd enquire about quieter rooms. -We knew before booking, but just to highlight that the rooms aren't completely separate as there is a gap at the top of the wall. The extra bed for our eldest was in the living area. -Maybe bring some string or a travel washing line as there isn't anything provided on the balcony for drying clothes and towels. -Its maybe common in Portugal but we found everything was quite late, i.e. dinner starts at 6.30 and kids disco at 8.30. The hotel is about a ten minute walk into Alvor which is worth a visit. We also went on the bus provided to the beach. However we mostly stayed around the pool and made the most of the facilities 🙂

All booked via the hotel with lots of helpful staff on hand! The bus was absolutely brilliant and always on time! The food was lovely the staff were so helpful no matter what you asked they were so polite and welcoming. The rooms are spotless! Cleaners came in everyday! The hotel itself is spotless! The pool was so much fun indoors and outdoors. We had the most amazing time and already looking to book to come back next year! Thank you for being amazing and welcoming! We miss it already!

The location is brilliant though right next to the beach and there's loads of bars/restaurants and lots of stalls and shops close by. It is a budget hotel but it was lovely, as were the staff. The breakfast was the same each day but it didn't put us off at all as we really had a fantastic week staying here. The pool is lovely too and the garden. We would absolutely come back here. The price of our holiday was affordable and reasonable too.

|1km from city centerThe Pelican Alvor was a lovely quiet hotel a 15 minute walk from Alvor Town centre. The room was the best we've stayed in for years, big spacious and had a kitchen area and separate bedroom area. Breakfast was OK but not brilliant. I was happy with toast and cereal, there was a limited cooked selection. We did sometimes find the English breakfast tea had run out. The hotel had a supermarket 10 minutes away which sold everything we needed. The hotel was very quiet and had no entertainment, luckily Alvor is close by and a taxi home was 5 euros. The pool area was OK but sometimes we struggled to get an umbrella for our loungers. Also the loungers on the grass meant the chance to get an insect bite for free. The staff were really friendly and we had drinks in the bar area. The hotel has a lovely quiet vibe and we are already booked to return next year.

The drinks have a good selection and the pool staff are always around providing drinks.. We booked the hotel for a babymoon a last min trip for 6 nights. We arrived on Monday was allowed to use the facilities from the moment we arrived including food and drinks. We got to our room after three and whilst it appeared lovely on initial view it wasn't. We had blood on the floor from where someone had cut their foot on a door stopper blood on the under bedsheets. Ants in our room and the sink hadn't been cleaned. We called down and it took someone 2 hours to come and sort this out.. The buffet food is the worst I have ever experienced. Is say this is an upgraded child's menu nothing fancier then that. Mostly cold and the cereal was stale. Thankfully you can book into the Italian resturant and steak House which is what we did for every evening that was slightly better just more options would have been preferable.. however this is more edible then the buffet. They have a snack back for lunch time in addition to the buffet. 3 times the ice cream self service was broken and the ice cream was slushy. The bbq area was however nice. Food again needed improvement but I have learnt this is not really their thing. The pool... don't I booked this hotel mainly as it said heated pool.....no no it's not. Its not heated at all. The manager said that there was a broken component.... Well that's been broken for the entire time we were here. It was such a shame.alas you could get in the pool which was cold but once your in your in..don't expect that to be clean either. We haven't seen one person clean the pool or attempt to clean it.. I could deal with little stones and leaves and the flying bugs. But the woodlice looking things were my limit. I wouldn't even contemplate staying here again its a straight up no. It has SOOOOOOO MUCH POTENTIAL but the staff are overwhelmed and there is an obvious reluctance to put money into this to get it to a 5 star standard they are looking for. I'd suggest this is a 3 star resort maximum

|0.25km from city centerThis was our second stay in this excellent accommodation. The reception area is staffed by highly professional, courteous, helpful and welcoming staff. There is a small swimming pool, with adjacent sun beds, a lovely snack bar area, a wonderful rooftop sun area with sun beds/table/chairs. The apartments are of a very high standard. The dining/sofa/kitchenette/TV area had everything needed. Coffee pods were an extra bonus. Decor was bright and modern. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was large with an excellent shower. The balcony was an additional bonus. The household staff have to be complimented on their high standard of cleanliness, and courtesy. The rooms were spotless. There is a superior standard of cleanliness evident throughout the building. |0.25km from city centerL'établissement Villa Rio Guest House Suites à Portimao propose quelques chambres très très spacieuses, décorées avec beaucoup de soin et de raffinement. Les espaces communs sont aussi très agréables, lumineux. Le petit-déjeuner servi chaque matin est copieux et varié, avec beaucoup de fruits frais ! L'accueil est super plaisant et on se sent vraiment bien dans ce lieu. Seul bémol, le ménage peut être un peu amélioré, notamment pour les cheveux au sol. Les salles de bain ont besoin d'être mieux aérées pour éviter trop de moisissure, notamment au plafond. L'établissement est hyper bien situé dans Portimao, tout est à proximité.

|1.5km from city centerGreat place to stay. Patricia at front desk is so helpful and she will book any day trips that you would like to do. One big down fall for me was having to pay €20 for clean towels. As the only supply towels when you arrive that has to do you for your stay which is disappointing when you have 2 small children with you that want to spend every minute in the pool. Also the playground advertised has no swings and it looks like its abandoned it could do with a bit of tlc.
