Exactly what we needed. Comfortable room and bedding, very large shower tub. The Breakfast was nice, with attention to avoid disposable material, fresh yoghurts, two coffee machines. The free Lausanne pass allowing free public transportation (and other advantages) was appreciated.

We would like to thank the wonderful staffs for their excellent service. The guy in charge of the hotel at the day of our arrival allowed us to use their washer and dryer in the basement with a very reasonable fee, and helped us to operate the machines even after his shift was ended. At the day of our departure, breakfast was not supposed to be served until 8 am (it was a weekend), and it may be too late for us to catch the train at 8:25. We asked if they could allow us to have the breakfast 15 min earlier. They told us that they would try their best but would not guarantee that. We were pleasantly surprised that the young lady in charge of the breakfast on that day did have everything ready by 7:45 am, and the breakfast was really delicious. In contrast to the excellent service, the condition of our room could be improved. We lived in a room with a private bathroom, and had to take showers in standing water as the water did not drain quickly enough in the shower unit. The entire room also was not adequately lighted in the evening.

Typical Moxy. Min room, not much more than bed, tv, light and bathroom. No dresser, no phone. (Know what to expect with Moxy - Ive used them in Scotland, England, Germany, Copenhagen) - but this one has no Air conditioning, charges for hot water. It is over 100F/ 37.8 C and I am melting in the room. No ice machines either. Very small sweaty ”workout” area. I won't categorize it as a gym. For hotel that brands itself as ” stylishly chic hotel that focuses on less, while offering so much more!” --- the only offering is sweating myself into a puddle. Bathroom - lots of long hair left in shower. Not dirty, just left overs.

This hotel is exactly what you need it to be - close to transport links, close to the centre, clean, friendly and fun! The staff on reception could not have been more friendly and welcoming. I was given my room key but also (unexpectedly) a metro pass for the duration of my stay which was a God send for getting about the city. The metro is also right next door to the hotel so it couldn't have been any better. The rooms are on the smaller side as may reviews have suggested, however, as a solo traveller this did not really bother me. Thankfully the room had a ceiling fan as it did get very warm. As well as the metro pass you are also given a free drink voucher for the roof top bar as a welcome drink, a free pair of sunglasses and packet of condoms :P haha. My only criticism was that on my last night, I went to the rooftop bar planning to have a couple of drinks while reading my book (as I had most nights) only this time was made to feel very unwelcome. The bar was fairly busy as half was clearly being used for a function. There were a couple of tables on the 'free' side reserved so I avoided them and sat where I was taking up the least room. Before even bringing me a menu the waiter came over to tell me that because it was busy and because I was on my own he would be 'forced' to ask me to leave if they needed the table for a bigger party. I understand that bigger tables are better for business, but as a paying customer, and a hotel guest, I felt I had as much right to sit there as anyone else. I had one drink and left as I didn't feel very wanted. It was a shame as up until that point I had no faults in the hotel or the staff but as a solo traveller being told that because you are alone you are less of a priority hit a raw nerve and I did not appreciate it.

Staying during this strange time of COVID, we enjoyed the experience thoroughly. A clean hotel with all the facilities you need. The gym is small but suffice to get a training session in. The location of the Hotel is excellent with ease to everything. A nice roof top bar very close by also. The restaurant and the staff we really enjoyed. Nice Thai food menu and great ambiance. It would be nice to enjoy out with COVID with the bar in full swing also. Breakfast was good - help yourself service. A great experience with nothing negative to say and would definitely return. Parking locally for the night is 28chf

We booked 2 rooms in this hotel for 8 nights because it's close to our Daughter's apartment. We arrived on 31st December, around 20:00. There were 5 people waiting in line and only 1 receptionist.. and God, he took his time... We had booked a ”family room”, for the space.. but, without any request they had turned the sofa into a bed.. thus wasting this space. When we went back to ask to turn it again into sofa, the receptionist became very unpleasant.. saying, it could be done ”the next day” Eventually, he agreed to get it done in the evening, while we were going to have dinner. The room is big, indeed, but so poorly fitted.. No refrigerator, 3 hangers (for a family room), Swiss only plugs.. It's rated ”3 stars” in Switzerland, probably worth only 1 star. The next morning, we went for the breakfast, for 15 CHF per person, we could expect some service. In fact, there was a single waitress for about 25 tables at 09:00 on 1st January.. It seems the management of this hotel has no idea about management of hospitality (and this is one of the closest hotel to EHL, the world renowned Hospitality School) allocate personnel according to demand and hire extras according to probable use of services. They just want to make money out of the visitors they do not care for ! So we move to another hotel after 2 nights.

Starling did most things that you would expect from a business hotel quite well. An added bonus for me travelling with family was that they allow pets, which is why I chose to stay here. On the negative side, I would expect given the prices charged that little ”extras” like a fridge and coffee machine in the room and a microwave oven available for public use would come as part of the package, but sadly no.

The hotel is a theme hotel. The hotel is easily reached by the metro, from Losanna station to OURS stop. As soon as you enter the hall there is a delicious chocolate parfum probably due to the ”chocolate fountain” from which you can taste. Smiling and very friendly staff. A spacious and well furnished room for me. If I have to find a sin ... The hotel provides a card for the means, so very comfortable as an option. With a walk of just 10 minutes walk you get to the center. Or two minutes away there is the metro stop and you will find the can reach any direction (lake- center).

This is such a nice luxurious hotel, and our family has been enjoying staying in it on multiple occasions since 2016. Everything is impeccable: room decor, luxury toiletries, comfortable and quiet rooms, daily housekeeping, and excellent service from all staff members. The hotel is located right by the metro stop, which makes it very convenient, and only 10 minutes walk from the lake. We stayed in the executive room which is spacious, has plenty of storage, nice modern bathroom, a balcony, mini fridge, desk, large TV,  safe, and an armchair with a coffee table - everything we needed during our 3-week stay. I can't speak of the hotel high enough and would happily recommend it to anyone. Thank you, team Carlton.

Good location very close to the railway station, restaurants etc and a short hop on the metro either downhill to the lake or uphill to the centre of town. One of the nice check in 'gifts' was a public transport pass for the length of your stay....handy. Rooms are a little bizarre in design and don't take a cat as you won't be able to swing it!!. Bed very small, low and uncomfortable however walk in shower in the small partitioned bathroom very good. Breakfast OK ish. Think you pay a premium for the excellent view of the lake. Reception staff very good and helpful. Nothing special about this place but handy, very clean with good staff.

A perfectly fine hotel with a hotel staff that spoke English well. We had a good stay and for the price it was amazing with the metro really close. The stay even included a public travel pass for going to and from the downtown city. The hotel is a bit special in that it actually is a patient hotel with people staying with newborns and people being in the hospital. So we were s bit in doubt of how that worked and if we even welcome. But we stayed there for 2 nights and had a great time the vibe is just a bit odd and we felt out of place. The breakfast included gluten-free options and was great. The hotel has a fine restaurant that was adequate and at a good price. The restaurant staff didn't speak much English so with a bit of help and Google translate it went fine and with a little knowledge of French it will go fine. Was a bit weird that even when they knew we mostly spoke English and German then those waiters didn't serve us but only the once that knew other languages. We had an amazing stay in Lausanne but felt a bit out of place.

It looks like a small castle, the interior decoration is very modern and the layout is very reasonable. Originally wanted to book the Mei'an Palace, because the price was too high to give up, to a look, and the US shore is very close, the same lake view, not bad, worth. The service staff is very welcoming and the check-in is very detailed. The only downside is that it is a little smaller, but the Swiss room is really small.

This was a very surprising experience because ALL of the other hotels we have been were so clean and great in every way. Switzerland is a very clean country even the railway stations are clean not to mention the train carriages and all the other hotels we have seen, and on this trip we visited by now 7 other similar category ones all spotless. So if I wanted to be kind I would say it’s all run down and the owner has a terminal disease whereby he would not care for the property anymore.., but if I want to be realistic it was downright dirty and disgusting. The room was large with old style furniture probably furnished twenty years ago and never cleaned the upholstery. There were dark spots on the little sofa and chairs most likely from someone’s shoes. The wall paper was all faded and also dirty. There was a note on the night stand to say they only change the linen every three days due to being “greens” so when I checked a pillow and seen a huge dark stain poking out from under the sham we just did not use that.. next to the bed there was a sticky spot on the blue carpet and in a good case scenario it must have been hair gel..(?) whatever it was they just ignored it. The shutters on the windows were half way broken off their rails.. the wood of the furniture was so scuffed I could not tell if it was a dark or a light stain originally ( ?!!) It is a 4 star hotel?!)? OMG And in Switzerland where even the WC / toilet is sanitary and clean.. I have to make a distinction though, the junior stuff was extremely nice and helpful at the reception and a test it is the fault of the manager or owner or both, not the employees. They were very great. The manager ( who seemed like the boss ) was giving them all instructions when we got in the door and proceeded to tell us that our accommodations are ready and since it’s a mini suite it will be phenomenal. The location is amazing right across the station so it suited us. And other then the horrible grunginess and dirty conditions it would have been fine. The bathroom was fine but the room really made me write this bad review. It is a shame to have a hotel saying they have four star rating and not clean up their act ( in this case literally). Mitzi

We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Mirabeau in April 2022. The hotel is immaculate, rooms, hallways, restaurant - everywhere. Hotel is very centrally located, and with the Lausanne transportation pass you can take the metro up or down the hills, or to the villages along the lake for free during your stay. The breakfast buffet was very good, large selection of hot and cold items. The chocolate croissants were a particular favorite. We booked 2 rooms, one a regular room and the 2nd a balcony room. The hotel upgraded the regular room so we were next door to each other. The balcony room was lovely - a balcony with table and 2 chairs, a sofa, chair, desk, coffee table and fridge in addition to our king size bed. I'd recommend springing for the balcony room. Bed was very soft but comfortable. There was plenty of room for 4 adults to sit around and visit. We would definitely stay here again.

We chose this because it is near the station, and it is only about 100 m away down a side street, so not noisy. It appears to be quite an old hotel with rooms around a 5-storey high light-well. Our room was large with a large bathroom (but only shower not bath). There was only one usable power point as the others required a swiss-style plug not the continental type which works nearly everywhere else in Europe. Breakfast was buffet-style but rather basic, certainly the least attractive one we had of 6 hotels in 3 countries on this trip. But we had a few problems. The reception is on the 1st floor, and there is a lift which goes from the ground level, but the door to it seemed permanently locked, so you have to carry your luggage up a longish flight of starts to reach reception and the lift. When we arrived the receptionist could not find our reservation - thought it was made online directly with the hotel. It turned out that the confirmations are not automatically generated as one might assume, but have a human in the chain. And that human had entered it for the wrong date. After a 10-minute delay they found our booking and fortunately still had a room for us. They admitted that it had been entirely their mistake. I think most hotels would have given us an upgrade or a discount to compensate for this error - but not here. Then when checking out the bill was too large. First they had charged us for breakfasts even though our booking said they were included. After some delay and argument they rather grudgingly made out a new bill. Then we found the new bill included the city tax as an extra, even though the original booking said very clearly that ALL taxes were included. It took about 20 minutes of argument, including a phone call to some manager, to get that resolved in our favour. Whey the wanted all that aggravation just to save a couple of francs I've no idea. We shall now never use that hotel again. The staff clearly need much better training and they need to ensure that if some taxes are not included then all confirmations state that clearly.

The staff was very nice, everything was uncomplicated. The atmosphere in the (one-single) room was actually as in jail. Naked wash-beton (surely so wanted by the architect), the simplest room equipment, but: bed was ok. The room was clean, but renovation would be necessary. Color blades from etc. Breakfast was inclusive, simply with Mensa-Atmo, no special highlight, bread instead of breads - but prima espresso and orange juice. Concluded: not very bad, but also not very good. Clearly: this is a youth hostel and not a hotel. But: for the price (＜ 100,- chf/night) the performance is not true.

We would like to thank the wonderful staffs for their excellent service. The guy in charge of the hotel at the day of our arrival allowed us to use their washer and dryer in the basement with a very reasonable fee, and helped us to operate the machines even after his shift was ended. At the day of our departure, breakfast was not supposed to be served until 8 am (it was a weekend), and it may be too late for us to catch the train at 8:25. We asked if they could allow us to have the breakfast 15 min earlier. They told us that they would try their best but would not guarantee that. We were pleasantly surprised that the young lady in charge of the breakfast on that day did have everything ready by 7:45 am, and the breakfast was really delicious. In contrast to the excellent service, the condition of our room could be improved. We lived in a room with a private bathroom, and had to take showers in standing water as the water did not drain quickly enough in the shower unit. The entire room also was not adequately lighted in the evening.

Nice location, modern room, fair price. Carpet is totally wet at the entrance. Shower is stuck and the bathroom became a swimming pool. Likely happened to guest before me. I mentioned but they didn’t do anything nor suggest to change the room. A pity
