I booked this hotel for myself and my friend as part of Andre Rieus package deals. I chose the highest price bracket hotel they offered as thought it would be better than the slightly lower grade one i stayed last time I went. It was classed as 4/5 star-more like a 3, I would say. So terribly disappointing! I wanted it to be lovely for my friend as she had not been to Maastricht before. The room was advertised as "deluxe". Far from it! It had now view whatsoever-overlooked a wall and a tombstone! (Was backing onto the church wall). Quite large but very mediocre decor and none of the usual touches such as throws or cushions-very basic. Had to ask for more tissues. The hotel itself was disappointing. We had stayed at a 3 star the previous night which was beautiful and had a lovely reception area and free tea, coffee and ice creams all day in a downstairs room. This had none of that! Not even a proper reception area. But the worst part of the stay was the three course dinner we had also booked in advance though Andre Rieu Travel. The hotel seemed unable to cope with the number of people wanting meals as they were serving people outside as well. Even though we had pre booked many months in advance, we did not take priority. There seemed to be one poor girl serving everybody. They asked if we wanted to sit in or out when we arrived at our allotted time and opted outside. After ten minutes of nobody approaching us we thought we had better go inside as we were on the clock with the concert start time. We then waited 45 minutes before our order was taken. There was no choice-just one starter, one main and one dessert which did not appeal to a lot of the other diners. The starter finally arrived which was OK then we waited again for what seemed like hours! In the end everyone was just sitting there staring into space! I finally complained to a man whose sole function seemed to be to stand at the door and greet people. Strangely he came across some people he knew who got served straight away! Eventually the poor waitress said she had forgotten to "press the button" whatever that meant so our main course had not been ordered. When it eventually arrived after having to ask her how long it would be a few times, it was, in my opinion, inedible. It was veal but us and other diners agreed it seemed under cooked. So after all that wait I could not eat mine. We then waited yet again for the dessert which was OK. Later when we saw other restaurants in the Vrithof square, they seemed so well organised, carrying large trays of food out at the same time even though they had many people to serve. So all in all a very poor experience which somewhat marred our trip although the concert itself was wonderful. Anyone booking one of Andre's packages should read reviews carefully as it seems as the hotel was guaranteed customers, it did not care much about service. I must just say that after I got home I complained to the Andre Rieu company and they eventually, a

The hotel is located at a great location, just a view minutes from Vrijthof (city centre). We parked our car for 15 euros with a Hotel Dis parking permit at a safe place, only view minutes walk from the Hotel. The room was spacious and clean (only a bit of dust). The bed are comfortabel and we loved the shower gel from Rituals. The breakfast was very good too. So many things to choose from. Only disadantage about our room (no.6) was the noise of our neighbours above us.

Surprised to find the cleaning standards below average. The shower cubicle had finger prints on the glass cubicle, the power socket was full of dust. In these times, I want to feel safe and I didn’t really think the place was as clean as it could have been. This was a repeat visit, so I knew what to expect room wise. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom ok, although water pressure was very low this time , both for the shower and sink. Lockers are available to store luggage after check - out ( paying ) and there is a coffee machine (€1,50 for a coffee). Impossible to enter or leave the hotel without touching the door handle which is a shame as well in these pandemic times. Location is perfect and about 10/15’ walk from station and close to Center. Overall, ok and perfect for the price but cleanliness let it down this time.

We stayed here for one night, this was our first visit to Maastricht, having never visited we were unsure of the location to places. However, this hotel is fantastically located to the vrijthof square where the André Rieu concert are held and all the shops, bars and restaurants. The owner contacted us a couple of days before with useful information and to get an approximate time of arrival. The hotel is a little quirky with the decoration, but nice to stay somewhere a little different. We would definitely recommend and would have given a 5 star rating, the only thing was it was a really hot day and night and we struggled to get a good night sleep due to the room not having air conditioning.

What a lovely place and the owner has a good sense of humour and is very friendly. My only little critism is we need (as brits ha ha) access to tea in the mornings so a kettle and tea making facilities in the room would be a great addition. It is so central its great and we would definately stay there again. Love the moustaches placed around the place on various pictures and busts. Love the suitcases as tables. Had a great time and the local area has lovely resturants

The hotel is well located especially for tourism and for visitors to the local university, particularly the law school. It is a 15 minute walk from the train station almost in a straight line, The only problem is that the rough cobblestone pavement of the street is not very friendly to or pleasant for your suitcase's wheels...The hotel is definitely charming with an attractive inner little courtyard with flowers, greenery and a water pond with some fish in it and some seating....The breakfast room and the nearby sitting room are comfortable and inviting. The room I was given, in the building across the courtyard, was fine for one person. For two, it may have been a bit too small. There is a safe in the room even though it is not so easy to operate initially. It must be an older model. The bathroom was a bit small. A person not very agile or overweight may have found it impossible to squeeze in to finally sit on the WC commode. No bidet. There is no elevator and the staircase to the upper floor is quite steep. There is no porter to help take your suitcase up to the room. There is a coffee making machine (small cups) in the room with some prepackaged coffee capsules. No bottled water or tea. No fridge. Breakfast is OK, self-service, cold cuts, cheese, some fruits, hard boiled eggs. Coffee is brought to the table and it is rather bland. Staff does not seem to arrive until 7:30-8 am; thus if you have an early departure, you may not get served. No information was provided on how to contact staff once the reception closes in the early evening, should there be an emergency. Staff is polite. The area near the hotel is very quiet. However, the hotel is near the main square of the city and several churches, other monuments and restaurants. People with limitations on mobility or elderly or unable to carry a suitcase up steep staircases and go up and down them, should make sure to request a ground floor room or go elsewhere.

Lovely hotel situated in the heart of Maastricht. We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor, very clean and airy. One particular tip - the car park opposite is very convenient is €35 for 24hours. The hotel car park is €20. We opted for the hotel one, which is usually valet service, sadly not when we were there. It is a good 10 minute drive, 5 min walk from hotel. It is a very small courtyard with limited spaces, not suitable for a big car. We arrived to find other guests had parked badly and left no space for us so we returned to the hotel and parked in the public car park. The hotel had no hesitation in refunding us, were apologetic and helpful. We checked out earlier than planned and they offered to refund our late checkout payment as well. They were incredibly service oriented and friendly. A really good visit.

From the moment we walked into the hotel we were treated like Royalty. We were greeted by the Manageress who offered us a complimentary drink & then who along with a colleague carried our suitcases up the steep narrow staircase, whilst explaining that they were not allowed to install a lift due to the hotel being a listed building. The room was decorated to a high standard & included a modern tea/coffee making machine & underneath the bed was a movement sensor which switched on a light which was extremely useful in the dark, along with all the other ammenities you would expect from a hotel room of this quality. On the night of the concert the meal, efficiency/friendliness of the staff contributed to making it a truly memorable occasion. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, the only negative point we would like to say is how foolish we were not to book for longer. Kath & Noel from England

I visited Alex Maastricht on March 2020 with my wife. We only stayed for 1 day so it was crucial we stayed at a hotel located close to the city center. Alex Maastricht was in an excellent location, very close to central train station but also the city center. We walked to the city center and visited all important sights of the city without problems. The room was spacious, modern and very very clean! It also had an excellent view of the avenue. On the ground floor there is a bar restaurant which is very good also. The staff was very friendly and helpful! Breakfast was the hightlight of the stay . We could choose from 6 plates and order as much as we wanted. Very good dishes and we were full!! I definitely suggest Alex Maastricht if you are looking for a hotel in this city! Negative -None Positive -Room -Price -Staff -Quality breakfast -Location

Yes, the hotel is in the old town, wherever it is convenient, it is an old monastery remodeled. There is a Chinese restaurant opposite the hotel. The key is that Maastricht is very beautiful, there are not many people visiting in winter, and even less Chinese tour groups. Because of the junction of the three cities of the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, it is very international. Shopping is great, Belgians are running over to buy things. Classical architecture, beautiful lakes, and the “Paradise Bookstore” rebuilt by the church.

I stayed here to be close to the city center and really enjoyed my stay. I booked last minute and got their last room (a superior room on the street side) and thought the experience was great overall, with a few suggestions. They were fully booked but received a cancellation for my last night so I was able to stay on site, but moved to a standard room at the back of the property. The back is much quieter so if you're a light sleeper, book a room overlooking the garden, not the street. The main difference between the two other than price was the space around the bed. I liked both rooms - the superior room had great space and the standard room had a larger shower as well as the lift to take me and my bags to the second floor. There is not a lift (only stairs) in the building next door, so keep that in mind if you get a suite or a superior room. The property is funky, well designed, and has a great vibe. The hotel is in a main building and a building next door, for which you go outside to access. The second building doesn't have a lift and the stairs are a bit uneven, making it a tad tricky as you carry your bags up, but the charm makes up for it. The building has clearly been there a while and has aged well, but the rooms have a modern, chic vibe. The top floor has exposed beams and lower/slanted ceilings (so don't book the top floor if you're very tall). Beds are very comfortable. Check-in staff very friendly and accommodating. My suggestions: We were turned away for dinner without a reservation by a not-so-friendly staffer, but I get it and I'm glad to see their restaurant doing well. We also had breakfast once and the portion sizes could use some work - the scrambled egg was about a half an egg and the banana pancakes, while tasty, were very small. We didn't get full despite ordering a full american breakfast and the pancakes. Other than that, the Fitz Roy is a great choice for travelers wanting to access the city center, dozens of restaurants, the bus system and the market (held on Fridays).

I booked a deluxe one-bedroom room. The room is big and touching The poor size of European hotels everyone knows In fact, the concept of the hotel is similar to that of a shared apartment. The design is popular in Northern Europe + industry in recent years, suitable for online celebrities to take pictures. The location is great. It takes only 10 minutes to go to the city center to eat, drink and buy. The cafe downstairs, the organic supermarket, and the surrounding restaurants and cafes The hotel was rebuilt based on a porcelain burning factory, so it is very fashionable with the new and the old~ The concept focuses on "students" sharing, so the hotel service staff are more friendly and casual I gave an ice cream when I checked in. The details are pretty cute. Still have to pay attention: laundry and ironing can only go to the unified laundry room on the first floor of the hotel Laundry, coin-operated self-service type, ironing clothes, there are equipment at will

My friend and I came to Maastricht only for one day..but we should have booked longer. Lovely city and nice restaurants. The hotel ist just across the road from a large parkhouse which was very convenient. The rooms are spacious really nicely and modernly decorated. Large bathroom and although we slept to the street side, we weren't disturbed by traffic. The curtains let no light through so we were able to sleep longer although the sun shone brilliantly. As we checked out, the young man who checked us out was very charming, interested to hear where we had eaten and what we had done and gave us tips for the day. We will definitely be coming again.

Hotel is very old school. Still use the regular key instead of the electronic cards. You leave the key at the front desk every time you head out. Room seems a bit run-down and old. Since I don’t spend all my time in my room, it’s not a big deal because all the necessary amenities are there. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Location is perfect. Breakfast is standard European continental stuff. Nothing amazing but relatively cheap. It would appear that this place is independently run by a family rather than being part of a hotel group (I could be wrong). Rooms are located on top of a restaurant and cocktail bar. The restaurant food and cocktails are quite good. Not out of this world but definitely above average. Restaurant stop serving after 8pm if I remember correctly. Cocktails are served until late. Should note that there is no elevator here. It’s not a big issue for me but for others who may have problems with heavy luggage, you may want to ask for assistance from the hotel staff, as the steps on the stairs are a bit narrow and felt a bit steeper than normal.

This cute hotel is really close to the train station and walking distance to all attractions in town. The extra fee for breakfast is worth it with a large breakfast of breads, granola, yogourt, scrambled eggs, cheese and meats. It’s paired with OJ and good coffee, and makes a great start to the day. Wished it would have started a bit earlier than 9am. While the building is a cute antique, the walk up the steep stairs is not for people with mobility issues or big luggage. And there are few amenities in the meticulously clean room. They have your own personal bottles to refill with water as many times as you wish. Great idea! And they offer coffee pods if you need a quick cup. My only complaint is that the Key drop off wasn’t clear if you were leaving prior to 9am. It said to put the key in “the box below”, but there was no box below, just 3 boxes on an adjacent wall that looked like post boxes. Definitely not clear

Disclaimer: I run 2 succesful guesthouses and have worked as a hostel receptionist in 3 continents. This hostel does to live up to their promises: their main business is selling beds, all the rest is chaotic and insufficient. (1) the wellness had one broken sauna, as they only have 3 this was a disapointment. And thus busier than normal with people. (2) they opened the wellness half an hour later in the morning, offering no explanation or apologies even though we were waiting in our robes in a cold hallway. "The floor was very dirty" cleaners said, but they'd only started cleaning half hour before...and continued after opening, talking loudly to each other, disturbing the peace. Disrespectful. (3) Check-in was a mess!! Seriously understaffed welcome desk!! Only one lady (who we later heard is the owner) running the whole place, very stressed and not managing the time, facilities nor the queue efficiently- long waiting times, multiple people being helped (badly) simultaneously in a terse and unfriendly tone of voice, "yeah am running everything alone here, you just have to be patient" used too often as an excuse. Heard the word "Sorry" a lot. Being offered alternative options or honest communication about expectations would have been more professional. (4) Ordering a drink at their bar means going through reception. Not suggested (see point 3). (5) The design of the hostel is all a show, for instance the books in the bookcases are there for color coding purposes only, 99% are in Dutch so travelers cannot read them. Stickers and posters all over the building not really telling any useful info (for instance: if I am sleeping on the second floor, where the hell is the hand soap other than the free one all the way below and through cold hallway at reception? Not at all handy middle of the night)-they offer an app for your phone but it doesnt work on older models. CONCLUSION: mediocre, disorganized hostel which has nice packaging but has forgotten its core business...making sure guests are happy, want to return, and to live up to its promises

Found this resort by coincidence. Surprised my wife and booked a comfort house. Tucked away in a nice and quite area on the outskirts of Maastricht on the Dousberg Very smooth check in. Very comfortable house with a lot of green space. Free parking next to our house, which is fantastic when traveling with a little one. Kitchen had a proper gas stove, which is fantastic and the only way proper way to cook a decent meal. Due to COVID19 the restaurants were still closed. But the bakery was still open and offered nice bread and orange juice. We brought our own food, but did buy some bread at the bakery. It’s also possible to order a breakfast, which will be delivered to your house. The swimming pool was open, where we had a lot of fun with our baby son. You do need to reserve through reception, but if wasn’t that bad considering all the COVID19 measures. Maastricht is only a 20 minute car ride away. Other areas of interest in Zuid-Limburg can be reached in 30-45 minutes. The resort is very spacious and our house offered a lot of privacy. We opted for a late checkout, which was very convenient and cost us €45 extra. I’m very satisfied with our stay. Really nice place for some peace and quite in beautiful surroundings. Feel like the European hotel breakfast is almost the same, yogurt cereal, bread fruit, salami and cheese. Nothing is going on. The location is not very good, some distance from the train station and attractions, but there is a free shuttle bus to the train station

There is no elevator in the hotel, and the stairs are very difficult..... It is very inconvenient to take a large suitcase! But the decoration is very distinctive and very clean! Great location
