We enjoyed our stay here. This is a very small, B&B, set up on a steep hill about a 5 min. taxi ride into the main town area or, a 15 min. walk. If you don't rent a car, know that you need to find transportation into town (taxi or walk). Street is very narrow so walking is a little challenging at night. What we loved about this place was its local charm and the peaceful feeling of being here. The staff is very friendly but, the owner does not speak one word of English so we communicated through Google translator. This challenge though helped us to know we were in the real Italy! Room was very comfortable, breakfast is simple but good. Pool was cold so we did not use it. Only recommendations for the B&B is the shower area in our room could have been a little cleaner and the pool could have been cleaner (but, water was cold so it didn't matter), and maybe time for a spruce-up of outdoor cushions. Not complaining here, just suggestions. B&B is located in a part of town that we enjoyed, close to restaurants, shopping, churches, waterfront area. We toured the Island and very much recommend doing this as Ischia is a beautiful island with lots to see. The Castle is over the top, the Thermal Baths (we did Poseiden) are amazing and the island flavor feels so real after being on the Amalfi Coast.

We are a family of 5 (2 + children of 21, 19 and 11) and had two rooms on the fourth floor a double and triple which on request were next to one another. The rooms were not large but perfectly big enough for our needs, had balconies with great views over towards Naples, powerful but quiet air conditioning and bathrooms with good strong showers. We were made to feel very welcome right from the off made easier by my basic Italian made irrelevant by many of the team here having a good standard of English. Elan (? apologies if I’ve got that wrong) was especially good and couldn’t do more to help although that pretty much applies to everyone here. It is obvious that this is a family run hotel for their is a genuine sense of caring which is often sadly missing from large corporate hotel chains. The location is outside the main centre but it’s only a 5-10 minute walk away but still supported by the free shuttle bus. This has the advantage of making it a more peaceful location and as it’s on the hill, of providing great views over the sea and to the Aragonese Castle (well worth a visit) which if your reasonably fit is walkable. The photos make the pool look small but we never had difficulty in getting sun beds and neither pool ever felt crowded so don’t let that put you off. I saw some poor reviews of breakfast but can’t understand why. There is a good selection of yoghurt and cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, breads, m cold meats and cheese with omelettes cooked to order. A coffee machine for latte’s espresso etc, natural and favoured water and three choices of fruit juice are also available. Even my daughters gluten free needs were well catered. On the fourth floor there is a terrace where we often took a light lunch or dinner purchased from the local shops or just played cards as we watched the sun set. Giving a nice balance of eating out while still being to sample local produce. The slightly larger supermarket near the bank has a deli counter with some very nice dishes. The shuttle bus picks up and drops off next to the roadside scooter park, opposite the bank which is at the crossroads at the bottom of the hill and runs more or less every hour until 7pm with a couple of later options. That is right on the edge of the town centre and just a short walk from the port and main bus station. The bus is clearly marked with the hotel name and so you can’t miss it. I could go in but hopefully this gives you a feel for the hotel, it’s people and location. If you value substance and service over glitz and glamour then this is the hotel for you. If we return to Ischia this is the hotel we’ll return to.

We stayed here for 3 nights in February. We absolutely loved the location of Villa Maria, so close to the buses all over the island and within walking distance of the entire Port all the way to the castle Aragonese. I felt comfortable and very well cared for here. The weather was typically bad, but the welcome always warm and the cappuccinos wonderul. OUr room overlooked the main street and port and I enjoyed the sunset over the everyday scene immensely. This hotel provides really clean rooms that are comfortable and functional. They are not super elegant or upscale, but the showers are always hot and strong, and the rooms spotless. I absolutely loved Villa Maria.

Not long back from a 2 week stay at this lovely hotel. It’s a great place to stay, 5 minutes from the pretty port and right in the resort centre amidst a bustling shopping area with an abundance of bars, gelaterias and restaurants and the beach is at the end of the street. All the hotel staff are brilliant (with no exceptions) and to name but a few.... Gabriella on reception, Rafaella on the bar, Mario in the restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble and Gabriella even hired a wheelchair for us so my husband could get me out and about! We had a good room on the 3rd floor with a small balcony which our lovely housekeeper kept spotless every day. We spent our mornings by the pool in a perfect little courtyard and our afternoons on the huge terrace on our floor which had sun loungers, umbrellas and 2 spa pools. The spa pools were surprisingly very hot but once you were in were very soothing even with the whirlpool gently pummelling away. We didn’t use the hotels indoor spa facilities but many other people did and some of them were on ‘spa break’ stays. The restaurant gave us a wide variety of traditional menus and we didn’t get a repeat menu for the entire 2 week stay. The food was as locally produced as possible and tasty and the portions were huge!! We would definitely go back and stay and maybe take advantage of some of the excursions (of which there are many: to Procida, Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Amalfi coast etc.). The island is relatively small but there is so much going on (even in September) with the impressive Aragonese castle within walking distance (a bit of an adventure with the wheelchair - cobbled streets, narrow footpaths, very few dropped curbs but all added to the fun!!) and local small buses to take you around the whole island to visit the beautiful traditional fishing villages, spa gardens and festas etc. There was a couple of ladies who told us this was their 9th stay at the hotel as they loved it so much! At the time we stayed we were the only British guests (until another couple arrived a few days before we left) but this wasn’t a problem (in fact we enjoyed the experience immensely and managed to use our limited Italian to the amusement of the staff!!). We travelled with Jet2 who, I must say, were brilliant both outbound and inbound. Everything went so smoothly despite having to transfer by car from the airport to Naples port and then a fast ferry to Ischia and on to our hotel and it was the same in reverse on our return. A simply wonderful holiday!

Hotel Vittoria is a fantastic gem in the heart of Ischia Porto. It’s just off the main street, so it’s very quiet but all the main shopping streets are few minutes walk away. It took us about 10/15 minutes to meander to the beach. The interior is stunning with hot tub and pool in the back garden and a terrace overlooking the mountains. You can enjoy the sunset from the terrace! Our room was great with a view into the street. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones and the air conditioning with a sleep mode was a life saver! Breakfast was delicious and the staff (a family) went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible! The room does not have a safe but the owners kept all our valuables save with them. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and loved it! Whilst walking around the Ischia Port we certainly felt we were staying in the best place possible and would certainly stay there again. My husband and I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels, small or big and this hotel has been one the best so far! I can recommend this place to anyone!

We stayed in Ischia Porto because I wanted to be able to walk to the hotel from the port because we knew we were going back and forth for a day trip. We stayed at Hotel Postiglione, which was a perfect introduction to Italy for the kids. (First time in Europe for them.) We had a third-floor quad with a tiny balcony. Good AC, good towels, decent beds, good bathroom, excellent coffee, basic breakfast included. Very nice people. The location was great: about 10 min walk from port, right between a main road (Via Alfredo de Luca) and the shopping/pedestrian area (Via Rome/Corso Vittoria Colonna). “The Corso” is full of shops and restaurants. After dark, there’s tons of people out walking. The “bars” give you a good view of the scene, and give you snacks with your cocktails. Good with kids. About a 30 min walk to the Castle. Bus service was good; easy to get to Forio.

We had a room with a big balcony and double aspect windows - It would be difficult to beat the amazing views we had of the sea and the castle. The hotel staff were really helpful and the hotel is really lovely. I would highly recommend it. The breakfast room is beautiful with gorgeous views out to sea and the garden is really pretty. It was our favourite hotel for views whilst we travelled around Ischia. I just wanted to add that maybe getting a taxi from the port would be a good idea because we decided to walk from the Port when we got off the ferry and It took us about 25 mins in the end . We walked along the Via Antonio Sogliuzzo and then turned left towards the seafront at some point . Eventually, by the two large pink hotels on the seafront in Ponte (one of which you can clearly see on Villa Panoramica's photos.)we finally found a sign for the hotel which directed us (strangely) through a car park and then up some steep steps which led to the hotels garden and entrance facing the sea. However, we later found that there was a road by the 1st pink hotel we came to that was easier to walk up until you reach the big metal gates to the hotels grounds. Easier again, from the main road called Via Antonio Sogliuzzoo look for a road named Via Mirabella - there are 2 and either is acceptable to go down and the hotel is not far down that road, with easy flat access to the hotel. Just thought I would mention this for anyone who has difficulty with stairs/heavy luggage. We loved our stay in Ischia Ponte. A very memorable experience. We will return as soon as we can.

The staff here were brilliant! They really went the extra yard to get us an upgrade to our room and we were really pleased with the outcome. The pretty little gardens and patios and views at this hotel are worth the climb up its stairs from the road. It felt very private relaxing and quiet, exactly the chilled location and venue we were after. We arrived by hydrofoil from Naples Porto, journey was about an hour and smooth. The port at Ischia was small and busy with many taxi's available. The Taxi to the hotel was quick and cost us 15Euros but the drivers always wanted an extra 5 extra as tip. We had a room at the side of the hotel at first but asked for and received a upgrade to a room at the front with an amazing picture perfect seaview of the Aragonese Castle and the island of Capri in the distance. The hotel had a really cute small private pool, and also partnered with the Gardenia Mare restaurant just across the road to allow discounts for guest to use their private beach at 10Euros a day. We did this for 3 of the 5 days we stayed. The Gardenia Mare restaurant is a fantastic place for lunch and romantic dinner by the sea (bit pricey tho). They also provide discounted meals for guests at Hotel Delfini just up the road. The hotel is located near the Aragonese Castle, you can take a bus for a couple of euros or get a bus pass for several days to a week, however if your up for it, its a pleasant (but somewhat hilly) 20 min walk with a view of the coast, to the cute promenade along Via Luigi Mazzella, make sure you visit Ristorante Pizzeria Aglio olio & Pomodoro and Porcavacca Ischia Steak House and ‘aParanza Sea Restaurant but make sure you book or you might miss a table! thankfully all the restaurants and gelato fronts stay open until quite late. Make sure you visit the castle its a surprisingly beautiful tranquil and lush oasis. I would also recommend spending some evening at the Porto d'Ischia. There are many lovely bars like Porto51 and restaurants like Taverna Antonio. Check out the swanky posh yachts that line the marinas. Stroll along pretty busier promenades along Via Roma and Corso Vittoria Colonna and browse the boutique shops and bars and just enjoy the atmosphere.

This place is like having a holiday apartment on Ishcia, complete with friends! It's a great set up with only 4 rooms, a common room and a beautiful rooftop terrace which has sweeping views of the Castello Aragonese and the bay. The perfect place to enjoy their breakfast or a drink before dinner, or just plain chill out. And you will be hosted by two of the friendliest people I have come across in all my travels, Anna and Francesca. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and give you tips on basically everything Ischia has to offer. Villa Lieta itself is right in the heart of Ischia Ponte, the main town on Ishcia, and a couple of minutes walk across the causeway to the amazing Castello Aragonese which is well worth a visit for the history and spectacular views. Plus there are excellent restaurants just downstairs and the local beach - Spiaggia dei Pescatori - is a 10 minute walk away if you are there in the warmer months (or just jump off the pier round the corner from Villa Lieta and go for a swim right under the Castello like the local kids do... fantastic!). Also the picturesque beach Spiaggia di Cartaromana is a 10 minute water taxi ride from the pier and is worth a visit. So whether you choose to base yourself at Villa Lieta during your stay on Ischia, or just spend a night or two to see the castello and the local town, Villa Lieta is a great place to stay and enjoy your time on this amazing island. Grazie Anna e Francy, hope to see you again soon!!

I recently spent a night at Da Maria and had a lovely experience. The property itself is in a magical setting, nestled into the hillside and running down to its own black sand/pebble beach on the Bay of Naples. From the moment you step off the water taxi, you will be captivated by the beautiful view of the Castello Aragonese, the surrounding hillsides and the hotel itself. The giant patio is beautiful and the pool is filled with warm thermal spring water. Our room looked directly out on the water with a balcony and was very clean, modern and obviously recently remodeled. The attached restaurant overlooking the beach served an excellent lunch, with many seafood options. The staff could not have been more helpful and Onofrio at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating. All in all, it was a magical experience and highly recommended.

This hotel is in a convenient location if you want to walk to the port, the castle, or the town centers (new or old town) of Ischia. This hotel, as with Ischia in general, is heavily populated with mostly older German tourists. We are in our late 30s and the majority of guests seemed to be 60-80 years old. This place felt a bit like a retirement home at certain times. The hotel has an older but good sized pool and very basic spa. Non functioning outdoor hot tub. No view but a nice garden and park next door. Mosquitoes come out at dusk due to the nature park next door. You get free access to a very small beach about 1/2 mile from the hotel, well kinda. Chairs are free. Loungers are 2 euro. No towels available. The beaches here are fenced off (German influence is obvious) in tiny patches about 10 meters wide for each hotel, bar, etc. This system of fences detracts from the natural beauty. Would have been better to hang out with the local Italians at the bigger, free public beach next door, in my opinion. It is worth it to bus to Maronti for a nice beach. The staff here was mostly good. The lunch/snack at the pool bar was good for the price (5-8 euro). Drinks were ok. The front desk receptionist was fairly helpful but failed to let us know about several important things at check in: how to arrange a shuttle, the fact that towels are not available at the hotel beach or the spa. They also messed up that I paid for included dinner in my reservation and we somehow did not get on the list to get in the hot springs (Castiglione) which was supposed to be complimentary. The shuttle, once we figured it out, to the Castiglione hot spring spa was 5 euro each and wasn’t available regularly (had to wait two hours). The receptionist kept telling us the Castle was free but it was $10. Overall the front desk was minimally helpful when it came to inquiring about activities. Food ranged from ok to pretty good. Omelets available at breakfast. The rest of the breakfast was typical inexpensive Italian hotel i.e. not good. Dinner was very good but they serve it in the basement in a brightly lit room with no music. Felt a bit like a retirement home cafeteria honestly. Overall I would not pay the $15 for the dinners here, you can walk downtown and eat better. They did have one “candle light” dinner with a guest chef that was quite good. They should do candlelight tables every night because the normal basement lighting is harsh. And add dinner music...that would drastically improve the ambiance. The room was typical of an Italian hotel, but with a below average bed. WiFi super slow. Overall I think this hotel is a solid value, but I probably wouldn’t come back here, mostly because the views are too good on Ischia not to stay on the coastline and Ischia Porto didn’t have much in the way of nightlife or shopping to make the proximity worthwhile. Ischia overall is a bit sleepy. Not much to see. Relaxation is the thing here.
